"Can Portal Authenticate a single user into multiple Domains"

Hi All,
I have a requirement in the following way.is it Possible to achieve?
lets take user with user-id(SSO environment) ABC ,maintained in MS AD under domain name say "SAP.com"
We are going to migrate this domain into another domain say "SAP123.com" and so others,and we want to maintain the same user with same userID in new domain(SAP123.com) also.
In simple words user must be able to authenticate on both domains and he should be able to access all the applications in new domain also via role mechanism
This we are going to do only for test purpose,later we will be maintaining only 1 domain for 1 user.
My only question : is it possible to accomplish the above requirement by any means?and How?Does it make sense?

Hi Amit,
yes, I'm around, but unfortunately pretty busy at the moment (preparing the TechEd session for Amsterdam next week).
Here my answers:
1. As you can read from SAP Note 762419, "it is possible to use integrated Windows authentication in a multi-domain environment even if users' logon IDs (represented by the attribute "samaccountname") are not unique across all domains". Please make sure that you go through the limitations of the two options.
2. If you change the portal domain, SSO will work only with servers located in the same (new) domain as the portal. You don't need to make here any change if your (SAP) applications are also in the new domain. If not, please consult the documentation I gave you in my previous post.

Yes, you can. Apple doesn't "track" serial numbers, but you are doing the right thing by removing iWork '08 & it's registration. The file that keeps the serial number is the com.apple.iWork08.plist found in HD > Library > Preferences. This is the Library on the first level of your HD, not your user Library.

I have small doubt. According to your reply , If we have N number of segments in single IDOC with same fields in all segments then for splitting Single IDOC into Multiple IDOC's based on Segment Type we need to duplicate N number of target IDOC tree structure.
Is that possible to Split single IDOC into Multiple IDOC's based on Segment Type using only one Target IDOC structure without duplicating the Target IDOC structure tree.

I can't split a home DVD into multiple events. Why?

I have a DVD of old super 8 movies that I converted into a DVD years ago and want to extract selected segments as short movie clips. I have been able to load the entire DVD as a single event but I wanted to break this single event into multiple events based on various themes. My problem is that I don't seem to be able to split the content at all. The "Split event before selected Clip" always appears to be grayed out. What am I doing wrong?

I just figured it out. Somehow I didn't change it to the correct code of 1. So on the second shot of 5 allowed I realized I didn't change and save. Now the dvd played.

Splitting single video into multiple files - workflow improvements?

I regularly need to split a single video into multiple separate files that are used by other programs. I'm using Premiere Pro CS4 for a number of reasons including the ability to easily and accurately select a scene by individual frames, native audio and video effects/filters, and the ability to import and export various video types. I'm open to using other tools, but I haven't yet found one that is even close to Premiere Pro when it comes to accurately selecting split points.
I'm not a Premiere Pro expert. I have been doing this for about four months and have read many resources (books, forum posts, help guides) to refine the workflow I'm currently using. My question: does anyone know any improvements that might save me time/keystrokes.
Current workflow:
I've bound F8 to File > Export > Media
Import video file
Open in source monitor
Set In and Out points for scene in source monitor
Ctrl-drag from source monitor to Project Panel (creates a subclip)
Repeat 3 and 4 for all scenes/subclips
Select all subclips from Project Panel and drag to timeline
Set work area bar to first subclip in timeline by the following four keystrokes: Home, Alt-[, PageDown, Alt-]
Type F8 (File > Export > Media shortcut). Type output file name, click OK and the first subclip is put in the AME queue
For the remaining subclips, type: Alt-[, PageDown, Alt-], F8, output file name, OK and repeat until done
Any thoughts/ideas on workflow improvements?

For the sake of brevity, I didn't include all of the details about the various aspects of the projects.
Early on I was doing what you suggested and yes, it is a little quicker. I learned (painfully) a couple of months later that I sometimes have to go back and adjust the clips and this method (trim to timeline with no subclips) resulted in quite a bit of duplicate effort (to reobtain start/stop points). I've since learned that managing the "scenes" as subclips in topical bins allows me to go back and make adjustments, long after I've totally forgotten about the project content, without a lot of unnecessary reworking.

Single login for multiple domains

Can anyone point out a blog or post of a single login for
multiple domains? For example, let's say I own asite.com and
bsite.com.
I want a user who logins to asite.com to also be logged into
bsite.com if they visit that site. BSite.com is clearly a microsite
of asite.com but we'd like to continue to use that domain if the
visitor is on that site instead of redirecting them to keep login
credentials

If you're using cookie based login system, I'd imagine you
could set a cookie to be valid for both of your sites.
<cfcookie name="myAuthcookie" value="myAuthValue"
domain=".asite.com;.bsite.com">
That way both asite.com and bsite.com can read your cookie.
Note the notation; always include the preceeding dot in the domain
values. (two dots for top level domains, etc.)
Strangely CFCOOKIE documentation doesn't mention anything
about using semicolon separating multiple domains. It did in CF5
documentation, but not since.

How can point single user to multiple groups in ACS

we are having almost 150 NDG groups in my ACS Server, in that one group is specifically for Security devices like pix & ASA's.
Now My requirement is that i want to Restrict this Security NDG group to one Specific Group under Group setup menu in ACS.
is it possible in ACS Server.
If it possible how can i point multiple multiple groups to single user.
Because not all users required access to this Security NDG group. only few users require the access.

Splitting the single record into multiple records based on validity

basically i am an BI consultant with less knowledge on ABAP, can i request your help on the ABAP task.
I am working on HR module which is integrated with SAP BI, the reports will be executed based on calendar month the requirement is i should split the single record into a multiple records based on validity of the record. basically the HR data would be in data from and date to.
below is the logic
Check whether the start and end date of the record are in the same month and year.
If yes  nothing changes
If no  create multiple records
1st record  original start date of the record u2018till end of that month
Following record  1st of the next month u2018till last day of the month
u2026
Last record  1st of the month u2018till original end date.
All fields will have the same values, only the datefrom and dateto fields change.
Can any one please provide me the same code to proceed on my task.

Why can't I enter single user mode on my Mac Mini for an admin password reset?

Hi,
I recently created a new user account for my mac and deleted the old one, not realising that this was the only account with admin priveleges. As such, I no longer have access to administrator priveleges, and cannot grant them to my new user account.
I have tried to boot in single user mode and recovery mode but neither command results in any reaction on the part of my computer.
This thread follows on from a previous, unrelated disscussion:
BDAqua: If you hold alt key at bootup do you see a lock in the middle?
Yenots: No...what does this mean?
BDAqua: If it did, it would mean Firmware Password Protection was enabled, which prevents booting in other modes, so that's not the problem, are you using a wired Mac KB, or Windows KB?

Thanks for the link to MacPilot, and the sexy screenshot. I found an archived version for 10.4 on the koingosw website. That solves getting into single user/safe mode. Though I'd be interested to see whether sudo nvram boot-args="-s" will result in single user boot.
As for creating administrator priveleges for my new user account, I've found a method which looks good:
 \single user mode\
 cmd-s
 \mount drive\
 mount -uw
 \open 'directory access'\
 lauchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.opendirectory.plist
 \list users\
 ls /Users
 \change password\
 dscl . passwd /Users/<username> <password>
I think that this method intends that if I change the root users password I'll be changing the administrator password (as root is the only user with administrator priveleges), and subsequently be able to change my new user accounts priveleges using 'netinfomanager'. But I'm not 100%. Could you give me your opinion on this?
Furthermore, three keys 'L' 'O' and '(' aren't working on my keyboard, which means I can't try this until I find an intact keyboard to borrow. I was thinking maybe a mod version of the above instructions would work in terminal using sudo, so I could use the keyboard viewer to type the missing characters. If you have any ideas on constructing such a mod I would be interested to hear them.

Freezing with blue screen & can't boot from single user mode or disk

My keyboard is wired and plugged directly into my Intel iMac running OSX 10.5.8. I do not have the Leopard disks, but I do have the Tiger disks. I was trying to boot in single-user mode so that I could run AppleJack to try to fix another issue I'm having--I get the light blue startup screen flashed at me several times daily for the past week or so. When the blue screen flashes, it totally freezes my computer (obviously) and lasts from 1-10 seconds. I can't find anything that is triggering it. I haven't installed anything new that I'm aware of, and it happens whether the computer has previously been slept or not. I'm also not using an external display / additional monitor.
Also, for anyone who is nice enough to answer, please explain everything--I'm not an expert user.

Well since it is so time consuming and a security risk to turn off FileVault, I was hoping to hear from someone with more experience if this was the solution, or just something to "try"? Are you speaking from experience or just making a suggestion, leroydouglas? Thanks.

Can not startup in single-user mode

I can not get my MacBook to startup in single-user mode. I am holding Command-S at startup but it starts up normally.
I also tried starting up in verbose mode by holding Command-V. That didn't work either. I then used the Terminal command to make it start up every time in verbise mode. That worked but I don't really want it doing it every time.
So then I thought it was because I have a firmware password set. I then started up holding the Option key so I can enter the password. The password field popped up as it should, I entered the password, then held down the Command-S keys to startup in single-user mode. No dice.
Can anyone tell me why I can not get single-user or verbose startup modes working?

Because entering the password into the Startup Manager doesn't disable it or any of the other functions it provides. You need to use the Terminal method or take the password off.

How can I turn a recorded voice into multiple voices that sound like a group of singers?

I'm using Logic Pro 9. Could someone teach me how to turn a single recorded voice into multiple voices that sound like a group singing together
by mixing or other techniques ? I don't have the luxury of a group singing together with me when I do recording. Advices would be much appreciated!

By far the most natural way to achieve this is for the singer to perform multiple takes - even if you've only one singer. At it's simplest, you could just double track the vocal part, although I prefer 3 parts - panned centre, left & right. Then repeat this process for each harmony, & mix accordingly.
Melodyne & some of the above methods do work on am single voice, but phase cancellation can be an issue if your not careful with each part's timing & panning. If you can only get a couple of decent takes from the singer, far better to perform any harmony/pitching techniques on the second take to avoid any phase issues. It's not uncommon for a singer to perform each vocal part 5-10 times, then comp (edit) the best takes so that you end up with 3 decent takes.
If you've only only one voice to work with Antares Harmony EFX is a useful alternative.
