Can Poster Frames flow in from Premiere 2.0?

If I am creating a timeline in Premiere 2.0 and then exporting as an AVI for import into Encore 2.0, I can mark chapters in Premiere and they will be included in the AVI file in Encore. However, Premiere does not seem to let me indicate poster frames for these chapters that will flow into Encore. Thus I have to create the poster frames in Encore. If I have to remake the file in Premiere, then I have to re-create the poster frames again when re-importing to Encore. Any ideas on how to solve this issue? Am I doing something I should not be doing? Thanks.

There is no way to indicate poster frames in PPro 2.
However, one workflow item you may be missing is to embed a project link before exporting from PPro 2. Then if you want to change anything in the video file after creating your chapter points and poster frames in Encore, select the asset, then choose Edit > Edit Original. The clip will be opened in PPro 2, and you can change it as desired, then re-export it.
Return to Encore after re-export has concluded and your asset will be updated.
Note you may still have to update your poster frames in Encore if the duration of the asset used changed.

Not sure what you are referring to. If you have any files MIA, simply re-download and reinstall the app via AAM.

  • Can I import a menu from Premiere elements 7(the Popcorn menu) into Encore CS4?

Can I import a menu from Premiere elements 7(the Popcorn menu) into Encore CS4?
If so how do I accomplish this act?
Are their additional menus available for Encore CS4?

The Menus in PrE are in Menu Sets. Each set is a Main Menu and a Scene Selection Menu. As PrE does the authoring semi-automatically, there are many "extras" in those PSD's, in the Button Layer Sets. All you have to do is make a Copy of your two Menus into a separate folder, so that you do not worry about messing up your Menu Sets in PrE. I'd do this in a new sub-folder in the Encore Library folder hierarchy. Then, Open each of these two Menus in PS. Go in and clean out all of the other languages for the Text and Button Text. Match the Layer Set/Button Layer Set names to those naming conventions in the Encore Library Menus, as you will not be getting any semi-automation. Where you do not need, say a Next Button, just eliminate that Button's Layer Set. Remember, PrE will do this semi-automatically, plus will give you the number of Scene Selection Menus, that your Project calls for - Encore will not. You must count the Scenes, divide by the number of Buttons on that Scene Selection Menu, and do Copies of that Menu, to accommodate what you require.
As for Encore, it comes with a full compliment of Menus, Buttons, and other Assets, like EM files (Templates), with Motion and Audio Assets. All can be completely customized in PS. Note: in PSElements, I do not believe that you can create Layer Sets, so that will be a limitation. The full PS has no limitations, with the single exception that to change Button Sub-picture Highlight colors, this must be done in Encore's Menu Editor, unless it's been added to PS CS5.
    Good luck,

PS - remember, work on Copies of the two Menus in the PrE Menu Set, and NOT on the originals, or you will be doing a Repair Install to get those back.

  • Can I print to Tape from Premiere with a Black Majic Card? SDI?

I'm trying to print to HDCAM. Is this even possible? Is there a Plug In I need?

From what I understand you can't "print to tape" from Premiere. What you can do, is set your BM card to take output from Premiere's program monitor and record to your HDCAM that way. FYI, you'll need to turn off your Hardware enabled MPE for this work.

  • I can't export an AAF from Premiere to Avid.

Why can I not open an AAF from Premiere CC 2015 in Avid Media Composer 7.0.4?
It is a simple edit in Premiere in 1080p 2997.  The AAF imports to Avid but the video is offline
but the audio embeds in the AAF but the timecode of the audio is not matching the video.
The audio is stereo, not 5.1 dolby.  Is there a metadata glitch somewhere?  This is a bit
    maddening.  Thanks for any help.

    Hi Dave,
Why can I not open an AAF from Premiere CC 2015 in Avid Media Composer 7.0.4?
There's no such thing as "Premiere CC 2015." Check the "About" splash screen and inspect the version number in the lower left corner. It should be 8.0, 8.1, or 8.2.
Regarding your issue, my guess is that the two are incompatible as much work was done on AAF for Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (8.2), however, I do not know how far back it will affect versions of Media Composer imports. Can you try a trial of the current version of Media Composer and see if it works?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

It has been the case that you cannot open a Premiere Elements project file (.prel) created in a later version in an earlier version.
And, you cannot open a Premiere Elements Windows project file in Premiere Elements Mac and vice versa.

  • Can't export MP3 audio from Premiere Elements 9

I want to export the audio from my movie.  The File, Export option appears to be unavailable, regardless of what I do; I saw elsewhere on the forum that all exporting is now done through the Share tab, and referring to PE8, the post recommended the "share to computer" tab.  Under advanced options, I set the audio to be exported as an MP3, with no video.  However, the "advanced" button leads to a screen with 3 tabs: "Format," "Video," and "Audio."  I can make those changes under the "Audio" tab with no problem, and because I have chosen to export only the audio, there is no information under the "video" tab.  The problem is that the "Format" tab only gives me two options, ".flv" and ".fl4" or something like that, and the resulting file appears to be a 7 second long, blank and silent video, played by Windows Live Movie Maker.  How can I get my audio exported?

Are you using version 8 or version 9? It's hard to tell because you reference both.
In version 9, if you go to the Share tab and select the Computer option, you'll be taken to a screen with seven output options.
Audio wil be listed as your last option. (You do have to click on the Audio listing to select it.) and MP3s are certainly among the options listed on the Preset menu.
If you can't see it, you need to scroll down or resize your panels -- or your computer monitor may not be large enough. But it's there.

  • How to move/rename files directly from Premiere 5 ?

I need to organize better my files, now they are in too many folders and the file name structure is uncorrect.
Can I manage them directly from Premiere without having to tell the new position as when you do it from out Premiere? just like you can do in Lightroom's library, moving renaming making folders...
I tried the rename but it only appears different in my project window, the actual filename remains the same..
    Thanks

It's not an easy thing to do. Many of the video camera formats use very specific folder structures and file naming schemes, particularly those that use more than one file to represent a specific clip--Panasonic P2, for example. To properly maintain expected functionality of the various importers and supported formats, Adobe has to respect those, regardless of how bizarre and labyrinthine they are. They are held hostage to the whims of the camera manufacturers and format consortiums, just as we are. For example, I'm pretty sure that renaming MTS files will break clip spanning, so you have to take responsibility for the loss of that functionality.
If you don't like it, file a feature request: Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form. But just saying something is an "easy task" and that they "just didn't think to do it" is a pretty loaded statement. Let Adobe know what you want, and hope for the best.

  • Export from Premiere Pro

    Hi!
    My problem:
When i am trying to export a sequenze from premiere like this: mark the sequenze, file -> export -> media, the program freezes (I only get plings, and nothing happens when I try to do whatever). I have to hit alt + f4, and then premiere is active, but can't export. I have done this many, many times before, so it can't be anything wrong with the installation. I have tried to open .VOB-files in premiere, burt without any luck. I saw somewhere now, that :VOB are not listed as compatible. Can this have caused the problem? In either cases, how can I export the sequences from premiere, when as described over does not work?
That moves me on to my next problem. I have a DVD with animations made in premiere, while the DVD with menues where made in Adobe Encore. I had a hard drive-crash, and lost the movies - but, luckily I still had a DVD. But the files on the DVD are .VOB-files, and Adobe doesn't like them. How can I edit my own films, made in Adobe programs, when Adobe won't?
    Thank you!

You are most welcome. Many think that VOB = MPEG-2. For the most part it does, but then there's that first VOB, that can contain other "stuff." So long as that is 100% DVD-compliant, there are few issues with CS4.2. However, many programs and hardware rather muck with the Menus and navigation, and suddenly PrPro cannot handle that initial VOB.
Side note: if you notice, all be maybe the last VOB will be right at 1GB in size. That is why one cannot have more Menus and navigation, than will fit in a 1GB space - part of the DVD-specs.
As for why one machine is acting wonky on you, maybe the tips in this ARTICLE will be helpful?
Good luck, and let us know what is different between the machine that works, and the one that does not.

  • Question: Exporting .aaf from Premiere Pro CC v8

I want to export an aaf from Premiere to be color corrected in Davinci Resolve. My export fails because some of the clips in my timeline have effects (horizontal flip, gaussian blur, volume). I get a pop-up saying "Translation Issue". What am I doing wrong?

I mean a .aaf file. I've read that it is compatible with Davinci Resolve, and I can round trip my sequence from Premiere to Resolve using .aaf. I've tried exporting it a Final Cut Pro xml as well. Both times almost immediately the export stops and a warning pops up listing all of the issues:
    Translation issue:
Sequence <Feature_Color> at 00:02:38:07, video track 7: Effect <Horizontal Flip> on Clip <JT_20131128_INTSmallMnt03.MOV> not translated.
    Translation issue:
Sequence <Feature_Color> at 00:08:57:04, video track 6: Effect <Track Matte Key> on Clip <DG_06_06_2014_Radio_CU_06.MOV> not translated.
    Translation issue:
Sequence <Feature_9> at 00:00:00:00, audio track 8: Effect <Internal Channel Volume Stereo> on Clip <ATF soundtrack_2.aif> not translated.

  • Exporting Jpeg2000 for DCP directly from Premiere

    Hello everyone,
I have to export a jpeg2000 sequence for a dcp. I`ve just installed the j2k plug in in premiere and after effects. My question ist do I have to export the jpeg2000 sequence from AE or can I do it directly from premiere? The problem is that I can`t change the color space to xyz in premiere, which I can do in AE, but is it necessary if the plug in seems to have a XYZ Conversion as an option? Did someone used it before that way?
my second question: in my timeline I have a dpx sequence, some psd graphics and titles made in Premiere Pro. Everything in Rec709. Do I have to convert everything to XYZ before exporting as jpeg2000 sequence in XYZ color space?
    thanks in advance!:-)

hi there, so I made some tests with exporting a jpeg2000 sequence
    1. directly form Premiere Pro, through the j2k plugin, with convertion to xyz color space
    2. from After Effects with convertion to xyz
    3. first I exported a tiff sequence from Premiere Pro and then exported it from OpenDCP as jpeg2000 sequence
the problem is that all of the final results are slightly different. the brightness is a little bit different and the colors too. any idea why?
btw. I`m using Premiere Pro CC 2014.0.1

  • Mac, wmv export from Premiere or MediaEncoder

    Hi,
    I use a mac
and worked with FCP and flip4mac.
How can I export wmv files from Premiere CC or Media Encoder ?
    br
    phil

Very strange that they want it in the Quicktime container. The only thing I can think of that you might be able to do is to use the MXF option in Premiere, then from there use FFMBC to rewrap the files into the Quicktime container. I know for the hyperdeck studio I used to be able to take the .mxf (DnxHD) files and wrap them into the .mov container ysubg ffmbc. According to their site it can do what you want it to do so I think it's worth a shot. If you're not sure about working with a CMD prompt though you might want to download a GUI that works with ffmpeg since if it works with ffmpeg it will work with ffmbc.  It says right on the front page it can do the task you need so I'd at least try it.
    http://code.google.com/p/ffmbc/
Also here is a link to the page where they show you the command line for encoding to xdcam 422 in the .mov container. If you do it this way you could export to a uncompressed or another lossless format and then use ffmbc to encode it to xdcam in the Quicktime container if you wanted.

  • Poster frame for cover flow view with safari bookmarks?

i have a friend on a pc who wanted to have his bookmarks display in a visual way so that he doesnt forget about them. so i told him to download safari for windows and use the cover flow view. he likes it, but some sites are not very recognisable by just the thumbnail of the front page. so i was wondering whether there is a way (or a workaround) to choose another image/icon for these bookmarks in the same way that it is possible to select any scene from a movie and have that be the icon/poster frame.
i hope i havent expressed this unclearly. thanks.

Since just moving all my music to a NAS I was here researching the same issue. I can see the other three (only when music is specifically selected) but not Cover Flow. I believe it has been disabled. I played around with grid view with 428 albums and iTunes for Windows loads the art fresh evertime you start it and, on the smallest art size in grid view, it took a bit of time to load all the art.
If Cover Flow needs to cache up all the art work in advance then I could see how it would easily take my setup between 45 seconds to a minute to cache them all up.
Perhaps that would feel too clunky for Apple especially if one were to aggressively swipe through a set that wasn't completely cached.
