Can Powerbook run external 1200x1600 monitor?

I have a 12" Powerbook G4 with a GeForce FX Go5200 64 MB graphics card in it. I want to purchase a 20" Samsung monitor with a 1600 x 1200 max. resolution screen. I need to use it for mirroring my powerbook's screen. Will this monitor work with my powerbook?
I actually need this for a client who will be using this to show Keynote presentations at trade shows on the 20" monitor. I put the presentation together for them (in 600 x 800 pixel format -- a good size to also use in projected slide shows). I like the 1200x1600 because the 600x800 scales up perfectly without letterboxing or stretching.
Any help with this is much appreciated.
12" Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

The PB 12" supports resolutions up to 1920x1200, including 1600x1200. So you or your client can use the monitor.
But better don't mirror the screen but show the slideshow on the external monitor having the slides preview/review, time etc. on the PB screen. But I guess that's what you were going to do

You can upgrade to Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion (coming next month), but you need Snow Leopard to upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion. Check this web to know how to add memory to your computer and the memory that it supports (probably, 3 GB).

  • Connecting Powerbook to External LCD Monitor

The D-BUS port on the external LCD monitor is a female port, so is the VGA port of the DVI Adapter, How can I connect these 2 if both are female ports, what do I need???

Sounds like you need a VGA cable with male VGA plugs at both ends. Quite common, for VGA monitors that don't have hard-wired cables.

  • Can I run an HDMI monitor from the Firewire port of my MBP?

This may be a strange one
I am running a late 2011 17" MBP running Mavericks (latest version as of July 2014).
Currently I have a 4TB external thunderbolt drive attached. There is no thru port.
My challenge is, I want to connect an external HDMI monitor, but this MBP only has the one Thunderbolt port, being used by the external drive.
My hope is, that somehow, I might be able to MacGyver  something using the Firewire port since I cannot afford another monitor with a TB through at the moment....Technically the cabling would be possible, albeit a bit freakish.
    Something like:
Firewire cable out from MBP, plugged into a FW to Thunderbolt converter, thunderbolt converter tip plugged into a MiniDisplayPort to HDMI converter box (like the Monoprice  MMP-MDP2H01), then from there to the HDMI monitor.
Would the MBP detect the monitor and route the video signal through the FW port accordingly?
Looking forward to some expert advice and any zany workaround suggestions you all might have!
    Respect.

The MDP to HDMI will work fine.

    Hi linacjsdad,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to help.
If you connect the monitor with a HDMI connection it will support the highest resolution.
Your HD 7670M DDR# graphic card will support resolutions of 2560x1600 which is higher then the monitor, therefore you should not have an issue.  Specifications of the AMD Radeon HD 7670M DDR3 GPU

  • Video display specs G5 2.7DP -- can I run two DVI monitors at once?

    Greetings,
    I have a G5 2.7DP
    M9749LL/A
With ATI Radeon 9650 with 256MB DDR SDRAM, one single-link and one dual-link DVI port
    Can I:
    port 1 (DVI-D): Apple 30" cinema display, resolution 2560x1600
port 2:(DVI-S): 20" DVI display, such as older Apple Studio Display (using ADC to DVI adapter) - Resolution: 1280 x 1024
Can I run both at maximum bit-depth (at the same time) ?
I did not find any specs or discussion about using both ports at the same time.
I currently use both ports, but not with the 30" cinema display -- rather, I use only a 1280x1024 on DVI port 1, and I have a VGA 1280x1024 on port 2 (using a DVI-VGA adapter).
My goal is to run the APple 30" cinema on port 1, and the 1280x10-24 DVI on port 2.
Can I do this, and will it be happy?
    Thanks,
    J

    Hi-
The 9650 can run up to one 30" and one 23" ACD simultaneously, both at optimal (native) resolution.

  • Can I run two 2560x1440 monitors (dual link DVI) on a new Mac Pro?

I have two Monoprice Zero-G IPS monitors, which can run at resolutions of 2560x1440 using a dual-link DVI adapter.  This is what I am currently using on my old 2008 Mac Pro.
If i get a new model Mac Pro, could I continue this arrangement at the max resolution by using two Thunderbolt/Minidisplay port to Dual link DVI adapters (and, I assume, using two of the USB ports as I do now)?
Frankly, I dont need the power of a new Mac Pro but my old one is long in the tooth.  I'd get a retina Macbook and use it as my desktop, but I cant think of any way to run both monitors at full resolution on the Macbook Pro.  I dont want to run them at HDMI resolution.
    Thanks in advance!

Adapters go from $9 to $54, the latter having heat-sink which is not needed in an open cMP.
Some support both as in either or but not two at the same time, SATA interface on the PCIe afapter, or an M.2 type
While other PCIe "solutions" exist they are not OS independent or machine, the XP941 suffers from none of those concerns as it is bootable in all Mac Pro 1,1 thru 5,1, and is the only one for 200-7 models (and 2008 are iffy) so you can 'take it with you' if you move to a new cMP.
Old controller, you need two SSDs in RAID0 to get 900MB/sec writes.
Does not appear to be any of the real issues of PCIe slot and bus master, outside of you would exclude the 1x slot in the 2006 of course!
The hardest part? getting these tiny M.2 blades, which are ~ 1" x 3.25" and have a tiny screw,  on the PCIe adapter.
250GB SSD today are ~$120 + many do want SATA III PCIe (to get 550MB/sec and allow continued use of 4 x SATA II drive bays) runs ~$80-299. In some cases you then need a 2nd SSD. So if you want speed (vs size) then $240 + $100 and the $300 for XP941 256GB isn't bad.
Finally, look for an Apple blade on ebay if running Yosemite - they vary, some are 2x (slow) M.2s and you want 4x but any are probably 700MB/sec and cost $400-700. No need with Apple part to worry about TRIM.
Comparing 128GB SATA II $83 + $15 adapter vs PCIe XP941 128GB $140 + $24 is a 'toss-up' in cost but not performance, and one frees up drive bay and uses PCIe slot. (Generally 250GB are faster and better, the 128GB use to have 135MB/sec writes and $40 extras for 550MB and double storage makes sense, you never want an SSD to get down to 20% free, and you want to have 11% set aside for over-provisioning).
So in a way you can get 1000MB/sec like nMP for $175-300 in any Mac Pro, and new faster blades are on the horizon offering 1400MB/sec.
Kind of amazing, that M.2 support is in that old EFI all along waiting

  • Can I run a 2560x1440 monitor with HP Pro 3381 MT

I have a Desktop 27 inch which has model "HP Pro 3381 MT" and monitor`s resolution is 1366*768 .
    My OS is IOS hackingtosh.
I want to run with my PC  as IMAC with 2560*1440 resolution.
    Can I solve this problem?

    Hi,
It does nit say much from the following information:
       http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/2432849
Looks like it is an old machine it may not be able to drive a high resolution monitor. And you need a monitor first.

  • Can aT30 run with two monitors , each monitor running a different application

    Hello,
    I have aT30 (model 2366 n6g) connected to a docking station.
the graphics system is ATI mobility radeon 7500  16mb ddr 4x AGP
    On the back of the docking station  there is of a VGA and a DVI  connection;
When I connect two monitors to the docking, it displays the same screen. The laptop is not recognizing the second screen, so I can extend it in order to receive two different screens.  Can anyone advise?

download the Omega Catalyst ATI driver, it should allow you to control the display setting a bit better. You should able to use the software to control the extended display property.

  • Can we run external mail program from JSP / Servlet deployed on tomcat

    Hi folks,
Had a tough time getting JavaMail API to work, finally when things seem to be working
there were some issues with the vendor's server, so finally gave up the idea.
On the server Apache and Tomcat are integrated via mod_jk and currently I redirect to a php page
which acts as a helper to send mail, however for the given business needs and server's limitations
    there are potential security holes.
So I was wondering if I could directly execute the linux sendmail program from JSP/Servlet
as we would in a standalone java program or do we need special settings on Tomcat to execute external
    programs.
Please let me know your views / ideas / comments on this
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
It's not designed for you to be able to do this, it needs to run through 10gAS or 11gWeblogic.

  • How can i run external application without specifying the full path?

for example, ms word executable file is winword.exe, but in java i am using the following command:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office10\\winword.exe\");
the thing is, i dont know where ms word is installed on every machine, so rather than making an assumption, do you know how i can run ms word without specifying the full path?
    thanks

    1) You could ask the user to tell you where it's at (and remember for next time)
    2) You could do a file search for it (and remember it for next time)

That is a very good point.  You do have to have focus within the WDA area of the browser otherwise the keyboard comamnd will be thrown to the surrounding browser.  Have you tried the URL parameter as suggested earlier?  This would eliminate the keyboard command/focus possibility.
Are you sure you system really is 7.01?  This functionality isn't available on 7.0.
