Can Preview Slideshows Target A Different Display?
Can the Slideshow feature of Preview use a different display (without mirroring or rearranging displays)? I can drag Preview's Slideshow controls onto a different display, but there doesn't seem to be a way to tell Preview to use a different display for the Slideshow itself.
GraphicConverter, and PowerPoint have a preference. I would have thought Preview would be cool like Keynote, and use the display its primary active window is on.

It sounds like the screen may be zoomed in slightly. Go into System Preferences/Universal Access and turn screen zooming off.

On my solaris server, there is an application which, in order to display some information, opens the browser. The server can be accessed thorugh X windows by various users. The issue is that whn firefox is open on one display, it fails to open on another display.
The resolution for this problem as suggested by a lot of users on various forums is to create different profiles for various firefox instances. However, everytime my application will launch firefox, i will have to invoke it with -P option which will pop up the profile manager. I do not wish to show the pop up for creating profiles:(. Is there some way to allow multilple instances of firefox to run on different displays?when you lock the preferences with the mozilla.cfg file in the firefox program folder as it's described in the mozillazine kb article above, it should apply for all users...

Bridge CS5 preview / slideshow not working on 27" Apple Cinema Display
I'm using my 2009 (black key) MacBookPro and Mac OS X 10.6.7 running Snow Leopard.
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Adobe Bridge CS5 works beautifully on my MBP, my photography workflow depends on Bridge.
However, when I attach my 27" Apple Cinema Display and try to preview images by hitting the space bar I get a gray screen. Likewise, the slideshow renders only gray.
It's not the "black out other monitor". I've cleared the cache to re-render all the previews.
I've scoured these forums as well as the Apple ones, and the helpful folks currently at Photoshop World in Orlando advised me that, collectively, the kind people here know everything. I know I can't be the only photographer who uses this configuration. I'd like to use the display for client previews/ordering.
I would so appreciate any tips you may have for me; thank you in advance for your time.

My issue isn't low quality rendering in the preview and slideshow - my issue is NO rendering at all in slideshow and preview. It's just blank. Gray.
I deleted the cache in my library and through the Bridge program itself to rebuild the previews. I tried the various options of "software rendering" on and off, and different configurations in the preferences and none seem to make the preview or slideshow work. I have all the updates from Adobe and from Mac.
I tried importing the photos I need to show my clients (who are coming to my studio this evening!) into Lightroom 3, and the LR slideshow works. But using LR and having to import photos into it is an extra step not in my workflow.
Ideally, I can make Bridge work instead of making yet another resource-consuming copy of these photos on this computer via the Lr library.
So - current state is unsolved.
Lightroom 3 slideshow and preview works, but isn't ideal since it involves importing the images into Lr. Since that works - would that mean my video card is acceptable?
Bridge can show thumbnails on the 27" display but no preview or slideshow.
Bridge preview and slideshow works perfectly on my 15" MacBook Pro.
I'm so disappointed since I bought the 27" Apple Cinema Display this week and was told it would work with my computer "out of the box" - I was sure to ask several times, "so there's nothing else I need to buy or do to make this work with my programs? Just plugin and go?" and several times I was assured, "Yes... plugin and go."
I sure would appreciate anyone who's made Adobe Bridge work with a 27" display. Thank you!

Different display page layout in Display Layout mode and in Preview mode

can anybody help me to understand why it is different display page layout in
Display Layout mode:

and in Preview mode:
I have only one column
is there some option that I didn"t check in layout page properties?The only thing you can try, is to have a defined number of lines, where the last line only consists of a few words. That may(!) give enough room for different browser rendering. But there is definitely no guarantee.
You may as well force the text frame to be converted to an image (Place one single character – point, space – out of a system font. This will force Muse to convert the text into an image – thus preventing txt reflow) -
When I look at the thumbnails in finder, I press enter to look at the picture. And I scroll down to look at the other pictures. I want to move or delete the images when I look at them this way... Any suggestions? I would think that there was a program for this...?

When you drop a folder full of image files onto GraphicConverter, it automatically opens them all in a catalog-style window. You can then select each in turn and use keyboard shorcuts to move the selected one to a target folder of your choice. I believe you can have up to 30 different target folders preset for this purpose.
GC also provides a host of other file manipulation features.

How do I get Preview Slideshow to appear in external monitor/projector
In Preview in Snow Leopard, I could set up a slideshow and use it for presentations through an external monitor or on a screen using a projector. I did this by dragging the Preview window onto the external monitor and then clicking on View/Slideshow. A kind of poor man's PowerPoint presentation, but very quick to set up. Now, unless the displays are mirrored, as soon as I click on View/Slideshow, the slideshow is "sucked" back onto the screen on my MacBook, leaving the external screen blank.
I have found that there are alternatives to Preview available, like Xee, but with the Preview slideshow feature, only the pictures appear on the screen, with all the background being black, which looks more "professional".
Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to stop the Preview slideshow ending up back on the MacBook?
DavidThere is something terribly wrong with Lion's support for two monitors, compared to previous Mac OSes, and it looks like you have found another instance of that fact. Oddly enough it seems like QuickLook may work where Preview doesn't. Anyway, I have two monitors and if I move a folder full of images to the secondary monitor, then select the images and right click and then click QuickLook in the Contextual Menu, then click the full screen arrows and the play button, the slideshow will play on the second monitor. If I open the pix in Preview, move the Preview window to the second monitor, and select "Play Slideshow" it promptly moves everything to the main screen, ditto for clicking the full screen arrows within Preview--moves to main monitor and in effect turns off secondary monitor. So give QuickLook a try and see if that will work for your purposes.

Is there any way to set the time for displaying a picture using the slideshow feature in Preview. There doesn't seem to be any way to set it in Preview Preferences.
Sorry for the late reply. I've been having issues with my cable connection. The only reason for the Preview slideshow is that I can do a slideshow from the pictures off my memory card, without downloading them to iPhoto. In Preview Preferences, I select "Open all images in one window". I have a card reader & all I do is select the files on the memory card & then Preview slideshow. If you take a bunch of pictures & want to see them right away, without having to download them, for me, it's a lot easier to do a slideshow that way.

How to prevent energy saver while viewing Preview slideshow?
If you have the energy saver set to black out the screen relatively quickly, it will kick in while Preview is displaying a slideshow. For some other applications this does not happen, like DVD Player. Is this just an oversight? I cannot find any setting for this.
Yes, it does seem to me like what works in iMovie and DVD Player should work in a Preview slideshow too. Too bad that it doesn't.
You can file an enhancement request at http://bugreport.apple.com. It requires a (free) ADC membership. If Apple considers your request worth implementing, you can look for it in a subsequent software update. -

Source DSO has Employee + Wage + Post numner as key and Target has Employee + Wage Type as key.
DSO semantic grouping works like Group By clause in sql, is my understanding right ?
Also if someone can explain this with a small example, it would be great.

Semantic grouping is only usefull when you have written a routine in the transformation for calculations and in error handling .

We have both a Iphone 4s and a 4th Generation Ipod Touch both with the latest available IOS software on them. Since the Ipod touch was given to a preteen for Christmas and they aren't old enough to have their own email account or apple id 11 years old going on 12, is it possible to have a different displayed name for each device if they are both signed in with the same apple ID and not interfere with each others device in doing so?
@pdroth. Displayed name as in when you sign up for a apple id you sign up with email and a screen name(this is your display name). If you are using any apple device as like you do with an android device you have to sign in with either your google acct for android or apple id for a apple product. If one apple product is utilizing that apple id already aka Iphone and you can't set up a account for your child because of his or her age because of age restrictions, both devices will use the same info. So for instance when using things like facetime instead of seeing jane doe calling jane doe(basically making it show name of other person using your account instead of seeing your own name) can you make on jane doe and one john doe using the same apple id just different outgoing display name. Hopefully this helps.

Yes, it supports target display mode. Windows can be run with either Parallels or Boot Camp.

Photoshop crashing with 2 different display adapters
I am having trouble with Photoshop CC.
My laptop is a Sony Vaio Z Series model SVZ131190X. The internal display adapter is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, this is the Driver Node Strong Name from the device properties:

With both display adapters active Photoshop displays the splash screen, begins initialization, and then stops working. Windows asks if I want to debug it and the app closes. I can disable the monitors from either display adapter and Photoshop starts fine. Once Photoshop is running I can re-enable the monitors I disabled and it continues to work, I can move Photoshop from one screen to another and back again with no issue. My current setup is using both monitor outputs on the docking station, the VGA port is plugged into a Samsung 191t, the HDMI port is plugged into a ViewSonic VA2246M-LED (with an HDMI to DVI cable). The internal laptop monitor is not active (the lid is closed) and attached to the VGA port on the side of it is another ViewSonic VA2246M-LED.
The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1. It is the Sony OEM install of Windows aside from updates that have been installed since I bought it (xmas of 2012).

Slideshow Titles don't display; Music not controlled.
The Apple TV does not show titles on slideshows that I created in Macbook and synced to Apple TV. The music I chose for the slideshows is not the same as I selected on my Macbook - kind of random selection from the Apple TV Playlist. How can I get Apple TV to display picture titles and play the correct music?
it created an identical file (in Movies tab of iTunes), then gave me a message ""MovieName" was not copied to the Apple TV "Apple TV" because it cannot be played on this Apple TV." However, it actually did transfer to Apple TV, and would play, and it showed the titles.
I suspect that the reference to not being able to be played on the tv is as a result of the original file, which wouldn't be playable and why you created a new version, you can safely delete the original.
The drawback is that the "movie" slides are grainy, nowhere near the quality of using the iPhoto slideshow. Plus the movie does not fit my TV monitor where the slideshow fills the screen. I don't know if there is a solution to this problem.
Yes unfortunately the older imovie wasn't the best at creating movies. imovie 09 is much better, I've linked a couple of examples for you to try on your tv if you wish to see how the newer imovie does things a little better.

I'm using the latest release (10.0) and am looking for a way to stop the history from being displayed in the History menu without turning off History, so I can still access History by going into the library.
I suppose it would help if I knew not only what you wanted but why, as there are a few possibilities that may help.
You may use private browsing,to stop some events being logged into the history in the first place, you may also clear items,single ones if need be.

You can choose whether or not to display the history as suggested options from the location bar.

If you save History, then it can be displayed, I dare say there are methods of removing the button/option to display history from the UseIneterface but it would still be available from the Library.
Another option you may consider is settng up user accounts on the Operating System for different users, or even setting up separate firefox profiles for different users on the same OS account.
