Can print from iPhone, kind of

When I attempt to eprint via e-mail directly from my photos on my iPhone 4, the print always fails. But I can go to my sent messages in my iphone mail and forward the same message to the same e-print e-mail addressand it works great. The failure is somewhere in the (probably HP) network because my mac mail says the message is sent, but the e-print website shows my message as "failed" with a yellow caution icon.
I have an HP photosmart 6510 and an iPhone4 (not 4S) and I do not use the iCloud. Also, airprint works beautifully over my local wi-fi.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? Please don't suggest the HP ePrint mobile app, I really shouldn't need another app to do this!

Hello printingfool,
When you airprint a photo from your iPhone, the default setting for photos is set to print on photo paper at 4x6 size. In order to change this you have to download an app from the App store to allow you more options when printing with airprint.
The app is called HP ePrint home & biz app. I know you said you did not want to download another app but since this is how airprint pictures are printed by default, the only way to change these options is to download the app and specify how you want the picture printed.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP.

I have the 6500A without plus and it is with a LAN cable connected with my Router.
First make sure you have the latest printer firmware installed.
Next restart the printer and the Router.
I had the same. Problem but it went away after rebooting the Router.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

  • I can print from my iPhone but not from my iPad

I Can print from my iPhone, but not from my iPad.  The options
select a printer and number of copies are active.  The print
button is not active ( hot ).

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

Are others having the same problems?

    Try this. Worked for me.
    - turn off your router
    - turn off you Mac's after removing all available printers
    - turn off all iDevices
    - do a factory reset of your printer remove all cables min. 30 sec.
    - turn on your router first
    - ran the network set up wizard
    - give your printer also a new name like "DeskJet 2015"
Something which you don't have used before.
    - turn on your Mac's and add your printer
    - turn on your iDevices at least.
    Should work after these steps.
It worked for me including all iDevices.

You will need to install an App like Print Central on the iPad to try to print to the printer. It will allow you to print to most printers. Check with their support folks if you need more info.

    Thanks again
I have a couple of HP printers, so I am somewhat familiar with this.
EPrint is not the same as air print.  EPrint is HPs way of sending documents over the Internet to an Internet-connected printer.  Air print, by contrast, is Apple's way of printing from an iPad or an iPhone over Wi-Fi.  So, even if your printer is capable of "printing from tablets", it is not at all clear whether it is only air print or ePrint or both.  The best thing you can do is check the list that was posted above and see if your model printer is in that list. If it is, you can use the air print function built into the latest iOS to print over Wi-Fi. On the other hand, if your printer is not on the list, you may still be able to print through ePrint. To do that, you should download and install the HP ePrint app that is available for free in the App Store. This will allow you to print over 3G to your wireless printer.

  • HT4356 Epson Artisan 837 will not print from IPhone

I have an IPhone 5 and an Epson Artisan 837 printer. When I attempt to print from my Ihone 5 I always receive an error message:
"out of paper, paper jammed, or incorrect paper size".
In reality,it is none of these things. I can print from my IPhone 5 to my Brother printer via the router connected to my computer, but the Epson is via WiFi/AirPrint.
Someone tried printing from their IPhone 5 to my Epson and it worked perfectly, but it WILL NOT PRINT FROM MY IPHONE 5.
