Can projects compiled in RH8 work in a 64 bit application?

Using RH8 / RSC 1.3 / Windows XP
In the not too distant future my company will be developing 64-bit applications.  Will RH8 compiled Webhelp and chm projects work for those applications?
If not does RH10?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

The output from RoboHelp 8 or later has absolutely no issue with a 32 or 64 bit application.

  • I can't get CS6 to recognize R3D files. I put the plugin and the server files in the proper spot and I used 64 not 32 like it said. I still can't get it to work

The only thing to do to get the R3D files working is download a plugin pack with 2 files in it. one goes in your plugin folder the other in some other folder. I found both original files and replaced them with the new ones. I have rebooted twice... nothing. it won't recognize R3D files. The Camera is a Red brand Epic Dragon and it puts our R3D files. R3D's are easily manipulated in Redcine, but I can't add my .mov files on it so I need to be able to work with these files in PP.

    I'm sad now
Good thing I have a PC with 32-bit windows!
Now, I can only assume apple is working on a 64-bit
fix? I suppose that info/ETA is on the itunes page,
    I'll go take a look.
Who knows what Apple plans are? I do know that they do not discuss upcoming releases of anything until its available.

  • Encounter 64 bits work slower then 64 bits

The application i have when compiled in 64bits work slower than 32 bits.
Observed there are some site making the same claim.
Are there any mitigation can be made ?

    Hi
There are lots of issues in 32bit vs. 64 bit performance.
If you need to access a lot of memory (4G and over) then you have no choice, you must use 64bit apps.
Next, if you are using amd64, then in 64bit code it has more CPU registers available, which can make it significantly faster than 32bit code.
Counting against 64bit code is the fact that the larger size of longs and pointers means that there can be fewer of them in the caches, so there will be a lower cache hit rate.
64bit code is able transfer data more quickly (64bit data path), but at the same time needs to transfer more data (64bit pointers and longs). No idea what the balance is for this, plus I suspect that most 32bit CPUs these days already use a 64bit external data path.

  • Creative Audigy 2 ZS - ASIO don't work in Vista 64 bit APPs

;C Hello. I have the Creative Audigy 2 ZS card and Vista 64 bit OS. My problem: don't work ASIO in 64 bit applications, such as?cakewalk sonar 8 (64bit), Guitar Rig (64bit) etc. In options of these applications ASIO not available, but in 32 bit version of applications Creative ASIO is visible. I used all drivers from Creative Download Page for Audigy 2 ZS, even beta, but problem still actually. How it is possible to solve the given problem? Sorry for my english.

?I was having the same problem like your having, I have the X-Fi XtrememMusic soundcard, Vista 64-Bit OS and SONAR Home Studio 64-Bit. I could not get the Creative ASIO to load and activate. I now use the Cakewalk Driver Mode (below)?to switch between mode easy now without any problems.
This may or not work, Below is a separate program by cakewalk ?"Cakewalk Driver Mode" that forces?when selected the ASIO, ?WDM/KS and MME 32-Bit modes.
Just install and before going into your SONAR software, use the "Cakewalk Driver Mode" to see if your software is listed. Select that software your using and then select ASIO, click apply and go into your SONAR software.
If your software is NOT listed, this software will not work, But, try it out to see if this works.

  • Want to open another project from Quiz Results - can't get it to work.

I have been trying to get my course to open another project (an instruction slide) after the user completes a quiz and it is not working. The course always closes after the quiz results. I have set the Project End Options and the Pass or Fail options to all open another project (the instruction slide), but instead, after the user clicks 'Continue' on the quiz results page, the course always closes. What could I be missing? (Am using Captivate 5.)

Just finally getting my head above water and am able to respond and update. Yes, I was using a tool called RELOAD to update the imsmanifest file. Actually a great tool that I can recommend now that I worked out the kinks with Captivate. Please see this post for more information. http://www.caddicks.com/blog/2012/02/17/how-to-publish-a-multi-file-captivate-project-as-a -single-scorm-course/#comment-249711
Here's a quick summary of how I ended up resolving this - I can't even remember all the different options I tried until I settled on this! I never resolved the issue with launching another project from the quiz results page, but found a workaround that works even better.
The course starts with a brief introduction module. The 'Continue' button on the last slide is set to launch another project, which opens the course's 'main menu.'
The 'main menu' project has several buttons that launch appropriate sub-topic projects.
On the last slide of each of the 'sub-topic' projects has the 'Continue' button set to launch the 'main menu' again. Each of these had quiz questions, but feedback was set at the question level only - no quiz results page.
The last option on the 'main menu' project was a 'Course Completion' button - which launches a project containing the final quiz. (NOTE: This was always the only project that had the "Show score at the end of the quiz" set to display under Preferences / Quiz / Settings. After a lot of hair-pulling, I realized that it wasn't necessary to open another project to accomplish what I wanted to do, which was return the user to some basic instructions before they retook the quiz.)Here is how the last project was set up.
The first slide is a content slide with instructions for the quiz. When the user clicks the "Back" button from this slide, it will launch the 'main menu' project. 'Next' simply goes to the next slide.
    Slides 2-5 are quiz questions
Slide 6 is the quiz results slide (turned on under Preferences / Quiz / Settings). Buttons are: Review Quiz and Continue.
Slide 7 is a content slide with instructions on what to do next. This slide has a text button that I called "Retry" and under Properties / Reporting for the button the "Include in quiz" is NOT checked. The Retry button takes the user back to the first slide in the quiz.

  • Can you turn in hours worked on exchange task lists with project server exchange integration

Can you turn in hours worked on the task list in Exchange if you turn on exchange integration?  We are using Project Server 2010 and Exchange 2010.  We want to turn on timesheets to report time and were wondering if you can use Exhange to
turn in hours worked on a task that you were assigned.  Most people will use timesheets but for those individuals that only rarely work on a task in a project we want to allow them to turn the hours in on Exchange.
    Cletus51

    Hi
As per my undersatnding you want the resource to fill his no of hours  worked in exchange server,
    but the problem is like
The data you can update is not timephased, therefore you can only update the %complete or actual work.
You need to do some customisation to achieve the same.
Please go through the below link which may be helpful to you

I merge projects in aperture, it works fine until aperture restarts.  After aperture restarts, the projects are no longer merged, and are back the way they were.  Can anyone suugest how to make the merge permanent?

I tried the first aid tasks but the issue is still there.  I have more info now though.  It's not a problem with merging.
The problem is that new projects are being generated everytime aperture starts (with the same name, ie 01, 02.... and 01 (1), 02 (1) .....)
When aperture start, it shows "importing".  When I click on importing, it goes into the activity box.  In the activity box, has many lines as below.  The added projcts are all empty.  It's annoying because i have many useless projects being generated.

  • I saved an iMovie to DVD and now I can't find the original working files in iMovie Project library to make additional edits. What happened to the files? Thx!

I saved an iMovie to DVD and now I can't find the original working files in iMovie Project library to make additional edits. What happened to the files? Thx!

Did you do the moving of the image file in the Finder or do you have a reference library as asked by Larry? In either case moving the files is a recipe for disaster as you've found out. You must either move the files back to their original locations or try to get those photos back into iPhoto as follows:
1 - Find the folder you moved the files into and COPY it to the Desktop.
2 - in iPhoto delete the photos that you're having the problems with as you normally would even though you can't see see them. Also delete all the photos that are in the folder you moved the other files into.
3 - drag the folder on the Desktop into iPhoto to import them as one event. If you get a duplicate warning I'd let it import the duplicate and use Duplicate Annihilator to find them so you can cull out the duplicate you don't want.
Other than that you might have to start over from scratch as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
1 - Move the existing library folder to the desktop
2 - Open the library package like this.
3 - Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
4 - Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.

  • Unable to compile webhelp (RH8)

I've recently upgraded to RoboHelp 8 and am having problems compiling a webhelp project. When generating a webhelp output, RH8 always crashes while "updating files" (RoboHelp 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close). It seems to occur in the same spot each time. I created a test project and the webhelp output worked fine. I also tried a different output in the problematic project (i.e. WebHelp Pro) and the project compiled fine.
I was able to compile the problematic project 5 times out of 10 up until yesterday. Now the project is consistently crashing during compiling. I've tried deleting and reinstalling RoboHelp, and deleting and recreating my WebHelp SSL, to no avail. Any suggestions?

When you say you deleted the SSL, do you mean the folder or the layout in Project Manager? Try both as the first step.
I am guessing that will fail but it's worth the effort. Next make make a zip copy of the project and put it somewhere safe, you cannot accidentally open that and wreck the backup as well.
Unless the Output Log gives you a clue as to the rogue topic, delete half the topics and ignore broken link reports. Compile again, if it stil fails, delete another bunch until you can compile. Obviously the rogue is in the last batch deleted.
You can extract further copies of the backup but don't delete it!

  • Can't get display to work with nvidia drivers...

    hi everyone,
on my new system i can't get my nvidia geforce 6600 to work with the proprietary drivers.
i went through a new xorg.conf hassle to get a working display. vesa driver was suggested, it worked but slowly. nv driver works somewhat slowly as well.
using nvidia driver 8774, screen goes blank, my monitor fells asleep, and i don't have a clue about what's going on. i cannot switch to a text-based console (ctrl+alt+F2), all i can do i ctrl+alt+backspace to restart (?) X server, and after a few second, my system seems to reboot by itself.
any advice is appreciated. thanks !

  • Studio 12.4 tarball install can't compile programs on Linux

    Hi,
I just installed the tarball for 12.4 in /opt. I have previously used Studio 12.3, 12.2, and 12.0.
Problem #1 command line C and Fortran compilers fail
The IDE can compile and build an application but the command line compilers (C and Fortran) both fail:
EDIT: The IDE didn't build the project from existing code either. I was fooled by the fact dmake ran but it actually ignored my makefiles and did nothing. I got no error messages and the executables ran, so I ASSumed everything was ok. It now appears the tollowing error (Problem #2) below affects the IDE and command line tools and nothing works at all.
    user@sys:~/devel/C/hello$ cc -V
    cc: Sun C 5.13 Linux_i386 2014/10/20
    user@sys:~/devel/C/hello$ which cc
    /opt/solarisstudio12.4/bin/cc
    user@sys:~/devel/C/hello$ cc -o hello hello.c
"hello.c", line 4: internal compiler error: DBGGEN ERROR: FILE="../src/dbg_libdwarf.c", LINE=31, Could not load dwarf library: libdwarf.so : libelf.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [DBG_GEN 5.5.0]
    cc: acomp failed for hello.c
    user@sys:~/devel/C/hello$
Problem #2 building a project using the wizard:
Yesterday I was able to get the IDE to build one of my Fortran apps from existing source. Today I tried using the wizard to build a C project from scratch.
    I chose C/C++/Fortran application.
    Next
    It shows CppApplication_1
    Finish
I expand source files to edit main.c
after a few seconds I get a popup that says
    Project
    /home/user/SolStudioProjects/CppApplication_1
metadata was modified in file system and in current session
Reload the project from disk and
override current changes to the project settings?
If I select no I get warning icons on the filename and Studio refuses to open it in edit. If I delete the project from /home/user/SolStudioProjects and start all over again and answer yes instead of no here, the entire project has a warning on it, nothing expands and when I look in the CppApplication_1 folder in /home/user/SolStudioProjects it's completely empty.

Because your libelf is not .1 but rather .0.8.
Linux is a multi-faced beast so we do not dare to support all of its variances.
Besides the difference in system libraries (that you just hit) various flavours of Linux have rather huge variety in their linker versions/behavior
which is especially painful for C++ compiler which needs quite a bit of linker magic.
Anyway, you may get around your particular problem by installing a newer libelf on your system.
Not that there is any guarantee it will not get broken some other way

      Fedor.
But Libelf 0.8.13 is latest build from http://www.mr511.de/software/english.html
However RedHat uses Libelf from https://fedorahosted.org/elfutils/

  • Can't compile.

    Hi,
I was a VB developer and started to develop using java recently.
I had to do some modification in a existing java project uses tomcat as the web server. I'm using Jbuilder 9 toas my editor. what I'm doing is open files using jbuilder and do the modification. I did couple of changes in my jsp files and those changes are working fine. Recently I had to do a modification in one of .java file. So I opened the file using Jbuilder and did the modification. then when I tried to compile the file It gave a lot of errors. when i run the site without the change i did to .java file it's working perfectly.
    most of the error like.
    <file name>.package <path> doesnot exist at line <line number>, column<column number>
but those files exist in relavant folders reffered and i think when i'm compiling the .java file it can't refer those files.
How can I compile my .java file and make the .class file.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi arijit_datta,
Here I list down couple of errors I got when trying to compile.
