Can PSE import albums from Photoshop album starter edition 3?

My older parents have been using PS Album starter editions for years as they feared moving on to something else, but now's the time. What's the best option? Thanks.

  • Import data from photoshop album 4.0

I have purchased a new computer (windows 8) and installed photoshop elements 11. My problem: I used to work with photoshop album 4.0 (on my old pc) and have thousands of pictures mapped to varios tags (person, locations, events, etc.). How can I now import this information from photoshop album into the organizer of photoshop elements 11?

Thanks - this helped a lot!

How can I import photos from iPhoto-library to edit in Photoshop CC? - and save it back to the iPhoto-library?

How to access iPhoto images for use in Photoshop
    1. In the Finder, navigate to Users > [user name} > Pictures > iPhoto Library.
    2. Control-click the iPhoto Library file and choose Show Package Contents.
    3. A Finder window opens that shows the contents. The Masters folder (or called Originals folder) contains all of the photographs that are in iPhoto.
Photoshop cannot access this folder, but if you make a duplicate of the folder, the dupe will be accessible -- so:
    4. Control-click the folder named Masters (or Originals) and choose Duplicate.
5, Drag the duplicate folder which is named "Masters copy" or “Originals copy” from the iPhoto Library Finder window to the Desktop.
    6. Open images in Photoshop from file on desktop.
7  Rename the folder and move it elsewhere (probably to the Pictures folder), if desired.

CS6  Just upgraded my mac to Yosemite but now can't import graphics from photoshop to illustrator.  Does anyone have a solution?

My advice to you is, if you can, drop back to Mavericks. You will have better luck since CS4 is not supported (nor are CS5 or CS5.5) on Yosemite. The other alternative is to uninstall the entire suite, run the cleaner tool and reinstall completely from the original discs or a new download. Be prepared for other fun stuff as well.

  • Import settings from Photoshop Album Starter, to Photoshop elements 10?

Basically I am upgrading a computer from XP to Win7.
She had all her data organized in Adobe Photoshop Album Starter.
It saved all her pictures but did not organize them (out of the program).
I was wondering if there was a way to export the folder/organization system from Adobe Photoshop Album Starter, into Photoshop Elements 10?
Or does she have to go through all her pictures again, and re-organize them?
Any and all help would be much appreciated.

    I am curious
Is PS Album 2 running on a Windows XP PC ? Does PS Album run normally ?
PSE 4 on the same PC ?
Is PSE 9 running on the same computer as Photoshop Album 2 ?
Or perhaps is PSE 9 running on a new computer with Windows 7 ?
For PS Album 2, in addition to doing the repair of the Catalog (which you  have done), you should not have any disconnected files when you attempt a catalog upgrade. In PS Album 2, look for a command to Reconnect All Missing Files -- it may be under the File menu.  Run that command.

  • Importing Photos From Photoshop Album To Photoshop Elements 9

I recently transfered about 14,000 photos from Adobe Photoshop Album into a new computer with Photoshop Elements 9 installed.  In Photoshop Album, I often edited my photos and saved the originals.  However, only the edited version appeared on the organizer screen.  With Photoshop Elements installed, a thumbnail appeared for each Album-edited photo on the organizer screen as a version set with tags and photo description in place but no image.  In most cases clicking on the black right-pointed arrow brings up another imageless box (to the right of the previous thumbnail) that is identical to the first one, tags and all. In a few other cases, the edited image appears to the right with tags.  The latter isn't too bad since I can delete the original imageless thumbnail from the organizer.
I have tried importing a couple of files of photos from the new hard drive into the organizer.  I get the original which is tagged and the edited photos untagged.  I want to be able to bring up my edited photos when I use certain keyword tags rather than the originals so don't have to hunt for them in the organizer.  At the same time, I want to avoid having to retag several thousand edited photos.  Can anyone help.  Thanks for reading this message.

    Hi Fred,
I don't recommend using this software for anything other than
cataloging. If you want to move your images you should consider
Photoshop Elements because it is meant to perform this activity. PSA SE
is just a little cataloging applet that would get really confused if you
even tried it. You would have to completely redo your catalog.

  • Importing tags from Photoshop Album to Photoshop Elements 5

I have had Photoshop Album 2.0.2 for several years and it currently holds the information of 13000+ tagged items. I have a detailed tagging system set up which I don't want to lose.  I also have Photoshop Elements 5 and having just discovered that Photoshop Album is now discontinued I wanted to transfer my existing information into Elements.
I have spent some time trying varies options but cannot find the solution I want.
If I select a photo from file to import into Elements then the tagging information does not come with it.
If I export an image from Album to desktop and then import it into Elements no tags come with it.
If I email a photo from Album to myself then import that image it does come with the tags into Elements.
Obviously I can't email all 13000 images to myself to import them but can someone suggest how I can transfer this data - obviously the photos themselves don't need to move as both programmes only keep a link to the original location to the photos.
I'm not interested in using the online storage system but wonder if one solution might be to upload all my phots to that temporarily then reimport them to Elements.
Additionally is it possible to import my current tag structure  rather than have imported tags all appearing under a 'imported tags' tag.
    Any help grately appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gill

Thank you so much it worked - the only thing that didn't transfer was the folder pics I'd chosen for the tags so that didn't take long to redo - many thanks - I'd never have found that. It would have been so much more obvious if it showed 'open' or 'select catalogue' rather than just the word 'catalogue' with no other options visible from the dropdown menu.
    Happy Bunny here!

  • Import albums from Photoshop Album?

I have an older XP desktop with the long-discontinued Photoshop Album on it (and a few thousand photos organized into Albums with many captions etc.)
I now have a new Windows 7 laptop with Photoshop Elements 8.
Is it possible to somehow import the photos from the old machine in such a way that the album structure and captions are preserved? (Rather than me having to recreate/reorganize everything).
(Background - despite my previous use of Photoshop Album I would not consider myself anything more than a novice with the product and Adobe products in general).
Many thanks in advance for any guidance that can be provided - it is much appreciated.
    Regards
    Tony

A bit far fetched, but you could try this.  Copy the Album catalog file (*.psa) to the new machine.  Also copy the pictures, preferably maintaining the folder/file hierarchy, i.e. if all is in My Pictures, put everything in Pictures in Win7.
Next you can do a catalog conversion with PSE8, by pointing to the *.psa file.  If the conversion works, open the "new" catalog and probably everything will be disconnected.  Then let the Organizer reconnect.  Point it to the Pictures folder to search.
I have not tried this, but it may work and you can't really do any harm since you are working with copies only.

  • Can't import PSD from Photoshop

This is weird. Trying to import a PSD file. Error message from PPro cs6 is "We were unable to open the file on disk."
The file is a still image that came to me as a JPG. I read it into Photoshop cs6, cropped it, made the canvas 1920 x 1080 (to match the size of the PPro sequence), did some retouching, and ended by running the Broadcast Safe Luminance action on it. Then I saved it into the PPro project folder as a *.PSD file. Like I've done hundreds of times now with dozens of PPro projects.
Went to PPro cs6. Found the file using Media Browswer. File...Import From Media Browswer gives me a pop-up Preview In Source Monitor Failure window with the "We are unable to open the file on disk." error message.
What makes this all the more frustrating is that PPro can find and open the file that I worked on just prior to this one. Same conditions, same workflow, same directory, same protections on the files (I did check that). The two files look to be exactly the same except for the file name, and the file contents. Everything else is as identical as I can make it. And none of my disk drives are even half full, so it shouldn't be a space issue.
So if PPro can read one, why can't it read the other? And what can I do to get PPro to behave properly and read the file? The files don't seem to be corrupted -- Photoshop can read both of them just fine. In any case, I've recreated the problem file from the *.jpg source several times now so I think I can rule file corruption coming from Photoshop out. Maybe.
I've wracked my brain for 90 minutes trying to figure out what changed between the first file that works, and the second one that doesn't. I've come up empty. I worked on one, then the other, then imported the first on into PPro (which worked), then imported the second one into PPro (which failed). Exact same source (both files were *.jpg attachements on the same email), same workflow, saved into the same directory. ARGHHHH!!!
I've done most of the "usual suspects". I've exited out of both Photoshop and PPro and restarted. I've saved the problem file in other fomats (same error no matter what format). So I turned to Teh Google, which didn't turn up much that pertained. Couldn't find anything in the Adobe help docs. So, anyone here tell me what's going on?

Few things to check - is the Color Mode of the PSD RGB. It cannot be CMYK, or a few others.
I have had issues with Smart Objects, in that sometimes, they Import fine, but not always.
Tiny Layers (just a couple of pixels x pixels) have cause problems.
Adjustment Layers have been known to cause problems.
Normal Layers, so long as not tiny, always work perfectly for me.
Nothing else that comes to my mind, but good luck,

  • Importing problem from Photoshop Album 2 to PSE7

I have just upgraded from PSA2 to PSE7. Importing most of my pics and tags went without a hitch. But a couple of years ago I did a backup of PSA2 and moved most of my pics to a DVD. PSA2 then showed a small thumbnail of the pictures and a small disc symbol could be seen on all of these pics. If I double-clicked on these pics the program would ask me to insert the disc and the pictures would be imported. None of these thumbnails can be seen in PSE7, even though the tags are there. How do I fix this? There is a folder with these thumbnails in my Catolog directory, do I have to import them again and how will PSE7 know that the real files are stored on a disc?

As you mentioned in your other post (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2527844#2527844), you've already tried to convert to PSE 5, which didn't recover your offline photos.
In general, the PSE catalog upgrade conversion process has been very buggy.  And in the last couple of years, a number of people have reported problems with catalog conversions not properly preserving information about their offline archived files.  Adobe support has been completely useless.  They even asked one person to send in his catalog, and after many, many weeks, they effectively said they couldn't help.  I've concluded that Adobe will not support the offline/archiving feature and strongly recommend that people don't use it.
If you don't care about preserving tags, dates/times, captions, etc. you could simply reimport the photos from DVD into your PSE 7 catalog.  By default the import will copy the photos to your hard drive (which I recommend), or you could uncheck the box that says to copy the files on import (which I don't recommend).   The import may or may not successfully bring in the tags, etc. depending on whether PSA had been able to correctly write that information to the files when they were archived to DVD (PSA/PSE has always been very buggy about that).
But if you want to preserve the tags, etc., use PSA 2 to
move all of the archived files from DVD back to a hard drive, and then reconvert the catalog to PSE 7.  I don't remember how you do this in PSA, but in later versions of PSE, you select the thumbnails and invoke File > Move.  Then keep the photos on your hard drive (as recommended above).

  • PSE 8 - Coverting My Catalog from Photoshop Album 2.0

My free download PSE 8 begings the conversion of My Catalog (Photoshop Album 2.0) when only 6% of the way into the process it stops giving an error message; "Failed. Try repairing the catalog with the software that created it". Frankly I am not sure where to begin.
My entire catalog, only one by the way, was created with the Photoshop Album 2.0 application. In an attempt to identify what was in need of repair using the slideshow View over all of the photos in my catalog I did identify where some images' were not linked to the actual photo. Any such disconnect I have rectified and am able to view the entire slideshow without interruption suggesting that there is nothing to repair?
Our use of Photoshop Album 2.0 has been unsophisticated. We download our photos from camera/s mainly using the Photoshop application which automatically stores them in the Adobe sub-folder under My Pictures. We then move these into appropriately named separate folders and mapping them onto similarly named Collections within My Catalog. Here we edit and delete where necessary and also caption. Once that exercise is complete, to reduce storage, we go back to My Pictures and remove any duplication resulting from the editing process. As a final test we take a slideshow View of each collection to insure that there are no disconnect.
What can I try next? Is there any diagnostic tool within Elements 8 which can assist in identifying where we need to start with the repair job?

    Hi John
Despite successfully running Reconnect and Repair, PSE 8 is still unable to
convert My Catalog from Photoshop Album 2.0. The 'Problems converting
catalogs to PSE 6 or 7' notes suggests that I might need to first migrate to
Elements 5. Can I take you up on the offer find me a copy?
Actually John I may be making life unnecessarily difficult for myself. I
would like to upgrade my Adobe Photoshop software but have some thousands of
photos with captions. Is there a more simple way to migrate photos, edited
photos all with captions into PSE 8?
    Regards

  • Transfer tags from Photoshop Album Starter Edition to other Photoshop products?

Here's a scenario for you, which might require some expert advise:
We have a database (on a network server) with ~6000 pictures which are extensively tagged using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 installed on a client PC. The client PC had to be swapped out, so I installed a new PC with Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, and moved the tag database (....\All Users\bla bla bla) from the old to the new PC. Now, when I start Photoshop Album Starter Edition, I can see that the software has found my images and tags, but the software displays a pop-up asking for an unlock-code, and I cannot get past this popup.  When registering using the form in the popup, I receive an email from Adobe saying that the product is discontinued and cannot be used anymore. I have Googled like a maniac to find unlock codes, but when entering such codes in the unlock code window, the "unlock"-button stays disabled, so I am not able to start the software to access our image- and tags database.
    So I wonder:
    1) Is it possible to unlock the software and continue using it?
    2) Does any other version/variant of Adobe Photoshop allow import of the tags database from Photoshop Album Starter Edition?
Looking forward to your clever ideas on this one.
    With kind regards
    /Nils

  • Importing Pictures and Tags from Photoshop Album 2.0 to IPhoto

I will be getting a new imac in a few days and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way I can import all my photos from Photoshop Album 2.0 to iphoto'08 without losing the tags I already created for each photo (pulling the tags in and having them automatically set up as Keywords)?

    Hi,
I've managed to transfer all my Photoshop Album (PSA) tags to iPhoto. At this (http://www.cv2h.com/PSA2iPhoto/Welcome.html) little webpage you can read how I did it and download the files you need. It's not very hard to do.
In short: the PSA "My Catalog.psa" file is a Microsoft Access file. It's easy to export the necessary data from it as XML. After that it's necessary to convert the binary references to the tags to readable references in the Images file. Then, generate an applescript that tells iPhoto what tags to add to which photo. Then, execute the applescript and you're done.
    I hope this helps,
    hhv.

  • From Photoshop Album 1.0 to PSE 7.0 ??

I'm finally getting around to upgrading my laptop and now need to get my extensive tagged library of images (over 10,000) from Photoshop Album 1.0 (running on XP) to Photoshop Elements 7.0 (on Vista). Can someone on this forum help, or direct me to somewhere I can find out?
