Can quicktime do this type of edit?

I have a tv show that I want to replace the commercials with different ones.
I know how to copy and paste the new commercial, but the problem is that it is not pasting in the closed captioning as well....
Can quicktime paste in video,audio,and CC?
I would love to be able to do this in Quicktime without going to fcp.

In my specific case, I want the cells in Column K, to change to a colour, if the values in any cell of Column P exceeds 1000.

when i mentioned that i really liked 2 of my wedding pictures, but i hated that my arm looked big from the angle, my wedding photographer said he could "liquify" the arm and make it look a bit thinner.
i just saw the changes and it's subtle, but totally amazing. now is there a tool on iPhoto that could do something similar to this?

The retouch tool in iPhoto's edit mode can approximate what you want to do depending on the background around the part you want to modify. Admittedly it's crude but might be coaxed into doing what you want. However, Terence's recommendation of Photoshop Elements for Mac is the best solution. It not only can get rid of double chins butunwanted ex's and backgrounds. .
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Im working with a portlet, created in javascript. I would like to call a function when the portlet is first displayed (meant to populate a database driven list). However since the body onload event is not able to be modified from within a portlet, how can I accomplish this same type of functionality within plumtree?

Because the portal page is a shared environment where several different portlets may all need to use the onload event handler, we cannot simply allow each portlet to register its own onload event handler. Each would overwrite the other, and only the last portlet on the page would receive the benefit of using the onload event.
To accommodate this, a client-side object called the PCC, short for Portlet Communication Component, exists to essentially "multiplex" a single onload event into multiple calls. To take advantage of this functionality, you will need to register the function you want called with the PCC.
Add a line of script to your portlet which looks something like:
document.PCC.RegisterForEvent(namespaceURN, eventName, sFunction)
namespaceURN = a namespace for your event, or just pass in false if you want to use the default window namespace.
eventName = the event you want to register your function with, 'onload' in your case.

I rented 3 episodes of a TV Show on my iPhone but it says can't play this type of file?

I paid for the rental, it was downloaded on an iPhone, yet when I go to play it it tells me "Cant play this type of file".
So confused - why did it allow the download, but can't play it? I have an iPhone 3G - anyone have a similar problem (or know a solution?)

First off, which nano? The 6th doesn't do video, and while I've never tried a TV show or movie, I have loaded some short video podcasts, which will play the audio, but not the video.
I'd look through the different tabs in iTunes to see if there is a checkbox that turns on the ability to use video on your 5th or earlier Nano, if that's what you have. Lastly, did you buy the show from the iTunes store, or somewhere else?

How Can I Create This Type of Workflow?

1. I need to create an editable workflow, for example a workflow that starts once you add a "Ms Word" document in a folder, then the initiater gets to choose who will be the firts reviewer and the who will be the second reviewer of the

2. can I have my workflows in a library and applied to multiple folders, where you have different pre maid workflows to choose from and then have your work collegues choose whcih one to pick.

The first one can be done by creating approval steps that plug into a Person/group look-up from your form. Have SPD return this as an email address and you can fairly easily configure something that will allow your users to input thier approvers.
I'll have a think on the second item, I think this will be harder to set-up.

How can i create this type of texture?

I'm trying to replicate/create the texture in this poster. It looks to me like a fresh paint brush strokes or some plywood.

Mylenium is an After Effects kind of a guy, which apparently is the go to app for fractal noise, although Render Clouds and fibers are also considered to be fractal noise. I actually tried to duplicate the texture, and while I got close, it was not close enough to put up as a suggestion. This has a base layer of a mid green, with an overlaying layer in which I used Render Clouds with blend mode set to Vivid Light. The trick is in selecting the right foreground and background colours, and then repeatedly using Ctrl Alt f to reapply render clouds with new random settings.
This is the same layer with some 90° Motion blur applied, and high settings of Smart Sharpen. Also set to Vivid Light.
Something else to try is adding some noise to your render clouds if you are going to use Motion blur, because it gives motion blur something to work on. After adding the noise, you need to soften it just a tiny bit (Blur > Blur more). Then Smart Sharpen again, but you'll need much lower settings this time.
I know that several requests for better Photoshop fractal noise have been put on the Photoshop feedback site, but the master of this stuff is Bert Monroy, and I can't actually remember him using Render Fibers (the other noise generator along with clouds and difference clouds). Bert tends to use noise and motion blur, because you get more predictable, and definitely more even results than from render fibers.

If I understand Flash correctly you can link several masked
layers to one mask layer, but the mask(s) themselves have to share
the same layer. If all of these small masks are on the same layer
how is that best achieved?

That DVD-R should work in your Mac.
The best way to check which media types are supported is to go to Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info > toggle Hardware and highlight Disc Burning... you should see a list of supported media for your Mac...
With that said, some brands do work better than others and some brands just don't work. The major brands all seem to work well, Verbatim DVD-R is my choice and it has not failed me yet.

Can iCal do this type of office schedule?

I am trying to find a program (currently using excel) to keep track of schedules of twenty physicians. I need to keep track of how many late Fridays each doc has worked, as well as keep track of nights on call. The nights have to be distributed fairly over total number for the year, as well as Friday and weekend nights.
I'm not sure if iCal is the right type of program for this, or if I should be looking for something else.

Can you create this type of circle?

i am trying to make a logo and have the logo the logo surrounded by a circle.
the logo has two letters in the center and then a circle going around it.
is it possible to make the circle thickness the same as the thickness of the strokes in the letters?
how do you set the parameters for this?

Easy.
Measure the stroke width of a letter.
Maybe copy/paste part of it and use Info to find the value.
Then enter the same value as the stoke weight of the circle.
Don't forget to enter the units (cm, mm, in, pt) before you click on Return, otherwise you will get points by default which is probably not the measuring unit that you're using.

I have an old highschool video where I look terrible, I was wondering since I know you can use photoshop to edit the photos (eg: remove bags from undereyes, change eye color ect..) can you do this type of stuff with after effects, and if so how? I'm thinking about purchasing it as long as it can do that type of thing.If it cant, is there any software out there that will?

Yes, you can change eye color and remove blemishes from skin with After Effects.
There are many ways to do this sort of thing in After Effects. Here are a couple of suggestions:
To change eye color, use the
Change Color effect. You can use masks on an adjustment layer to isolate the areas that the effect affects. You'll probably end up playing with blending modes to blend the result in with the original.
To remove blemishes, you can use the
Clone Stamp tool to sample a patch of clear skin and use it over the blemish, or you might just end up changing the colors of the blemishes.
I recommend starting by going to the
After Effects Community Help and Support page. Work your way through the material in the "Getting started" section. Then, after you've gone through those basic materials, come back here with detailed questions.
