Can receive .png files (pictures) but can't forward them...

Here's a weird one. I've been getting fowards lately that have .png files in them for pictures. While I can view them on my iphone, when I forward them, it asks me it I want to attach them, of course I say yes, but the people I forward them to don't get the pictures. I don't think .png can be forwarded as it makes them turn in a question mark to the receiver.

Are you both using the same kind of mail account...are you both like Yahoo ...or are you using gmail and they are using a POP3 or yahoo or something else???
I'll have to test it later at home because I would have sworn that I sent .png files that were received fine by my recipient...
Could be wrong...we shall see.........

I've never done it so all I can do is see what the User Guide says:
Forward a message Open a message and tap , then tap Forward.
Add one or more email addresses, type your
message, then tap Send.
When you forward a message, you can include the

IF I'm reading this right, it looks like forwarding attachments is an optional action, not a default. Let me try it.
OK, it worked for me on my iPad. On my iMac I created a message with an attachment in my ISP account and sent it to an AOL account. I then read the message on my iPad after which I forwarded it to my Moble Me account. I then used my iMac to log into MobileMe and the message was there with the attachment.
Here are the steps I took on my iPad: After tapping on the forwarding icon, a drop down appeared asking me if I wanted to include the attachment. I said yes and then sent off the message. Is that what you did? My iPad has iOS 4.2.1 on it.

If the attachments are photos, when you forward them, look on the bottom right of your compose window, change to "actual size". It's probably set to small as displayed here:

If these are images that are completely under your control you could not store them as pngs, but instead create your own format, where you just store them as an array of pixels in RGB format (probably with a small header to include genreal information like the dimensions), something similar to BMP. When you load the image you wouldn't be using the Image.createImage() methods, but instead write your own method that creates a blank image and draws in the colors. This will allow you to edit the pictures any way you please even on MIDP 1.0 phones without any proprietary APIs. It means you would need to write a tool to export images in the format you create.
If you limit yourself to MIDP 2.0 then you could just load the image and use the getRGB() and createRGBImage() methods to manipulate pixels. With MIDP 1.0 you could also do this on certain phones, if they have extension APIs like Nokia's DirectGraphics class for example.

I can receive emails containing pictures but can not send pictures from my computer.

I have gone into my pictures on my computer and right clicked then picked send to, choose mail receipent and then choose picture size as smaller. It looks like it is going to go through to the email so that I can add an email address but nothing happens.
Please help

Try to compose the message in Thunderbird and then add the picture as an attachment.

HELP! My phone takes pictures but won't save them.

I have an iPhone 4, when I updated to iOS 7, the camera stopped working. Screenshots and taken pictures show up on the bottom left of the camera screen, showing that they were taken, but don't exist in the camera roll when I click on them (or in any other folders). As for video, the blinking red dot appears and goes away instantaneously, then the app crashes.

Also sync again to transfer any recent purchases to your iTunes library, then restore as you did before (by clicking on the name of your phone on the left side of iTunes, going to the Summary tab to the right and clicking on Restore). But this time, when you go through the setup assistant at the end of the process select Set up as New iPhone (see image below). Then take a photo and test whether or not you can see it now. If not, you'll have to make an appointment at the genius bar at a nearby Apple Store.
If it's working now, turn on iCloud syncing for calendars, contacts, etc. again (in Settings>iCloud) to recover your iCloud data (if prompted, choose merge), and sync with iTunes to transfer your apps, music, and other iTunes media back to your phone. You can sync any videos back to your phone by selecting to do so on the Movies tab of your iTuens sync settings., and put your imported photos into a folder and sync that back to your phone by selecting to do so on the Photos tab.

When I plug my iPhone into my mac it says no camera found. But i still have pictures but i cannot view them.

If anybody can help me with this please help. I need some pictures that are on my phone please help.

You should be able to transfer them again with whatever camera photo program you have on your computer. I use Picasa 3 to manually select my photos for transfer.

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs onto it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to manual in the iPod preferences. One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod

If the Photos are under 'Last Import' or 'Last N Months' then they are in the Library somewhere, just not where you are expecting them to be. We know this as both Last Import and 'Last N Months' are not places, just listings of elements in the the Library.
The two most common reasons that they can't be found is either an incorrect date on the camera or the Sorting (View Menu -> Sort Photos - or Sort Events, as appropriate) has changed.
Quick route to find them: Right-click on one of the images in Last Import and select 'Show Event'. This will bring you to the image in the Library.

Indesign CS5 with PNG file exporting as a PDF file but the text is random bold

Hello,
I am looking for help to teach me how to solve this problem.
I use Indesign CS5 to make a proposal. I set the page marker and sub title in the master page.
Of course, there are including dozens of pages and some pictures here.
And one of these page, I place a PNG file and type some text.
When I export this file as a PDF file, one page, which is including PNG file, the text becomes random bold.
Therefore, I have used PSD file to cover the PNG file. But finally getting the same problem.
So does anyone can help me how to solve this problem?

This sounds like a known issue with transparency on the page. When transparency is introduced ID uses a differnt method, apparently, of rendering text on that page and it appears bolder on screen and can print that way on low resolution devices like desktop printers. It usually is not a problem on press output.
The only way to mainatian consistency would be to introduce transparency on all pages, perhaps by adding a transparent object to your master page.

IWeb sites are slow to upload. text columns turn to heavy png files

Yes I've noticed that iweb sites for some odd reason are slower to load on any browser. No matter what the hosting is. I use Me.com for a few years and iWeb as I don't have the time or patience to bother with Dreamweaver. I use Me.com for hosting as well as another web hosting server. If there is graphic material on the page, it takes so long to open. Apple must do something about it for sure.
The program iWeb itself doesn't open up fast enough if you have more than 3 pages on it (which any normal site would have). I'm glad Apple made good changes in iWeb09, but it needs to do something about the speed of the program, the sites it makes and how it processes simple matter on it.
Even though, I have come across some good examples of iWeb made sites that are easy and relatively faster to open or they open at a normal speed. The authors also have used flash material on their iWeb sites. I have a non-registered program (web site Maestro) that claims to ease up and streamline the graphic and other heavy content on a iWeb site to make it lighter with loading.
But the unregistered version works on 70 percent files only. And I don't really notice any difference with it either. So I'm doubtful of buying the full version.
Any thoughts? Solutions? Would really appreciate.
ANOTHER ISSUE that I have discovered while making iWeb site is that a text column put on a shape after publishing turns into a heavy PNG picture file that can weight almost upto 1 whole megabyte!!!
And you keep wondering why the darn page is so slow to open!!! Cuz a simple text could've been just about 50kb. But it turns into a 900kb picture in png!!! Is there a way to change this?? I guess, taking out the picture from the published site folder and reediting it in - say - Photoshop reducing its size may help. But its so cumbersome and arduous to go into every darn folder and open all the text now converted into pics and re-edit them!! And then their reduced quality will make the text look feeble and bad quality too.
This is a problem that APPLE iWEB experts Must work on. iWeb gives a certain flexibility as its like a free flowing canvas. But then its also a known fact that iWeb sites are exceptionally heavier to open, unless you know many other tweaks here and there to make it work right. But again, this is contrary to the purpose of iWeb, cuz its made for amateur site makers.
I wish there is a work around this thing really.
ANY SUGGESTIONS FRIENDS?? WOULD LOVE TO HEAR. PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND SOLUTIONS.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Shapes by their very nature are graphic elements that end up a png file whether there's text in them or not. You should try adding the text in a text box above the shape and see if there's any difference. Just be sure to use a Web Safe Font and not add any enhancements that will turn it into a image file:

You may not notice a difference with loading with WSM but those with Internet Explorer should. Have you tested your site with and without WSM on a PC?
In WSM you can set the amount of optimizing for graphics. I've set it at about 60% (moderate) and haven't tested other settings for image quality. I'm sure a lower quality level, i.e. more compression, will have a impact on file loading. I just don't have a feel for the greatest amount of compression that will still have acceptable image quality. You'll just have to experiment.
If your site is a commercial site then using a commercial hosting server is the best option. Also, it's reported that using a Text Based Navbar instead of iWeb's java based one will help dark side compatibility.
Be sure to put in feature requests for the improvements that you see necessary to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html.

Keyframing trouble, Purple flash on PNG file

Ive been keyframing a PNG file and seem to be getting purple flashes at some point during editing. I tried rendering it and still flickers sometimes.. Help???

I don't know about the innards of the READ PNG FILE vi, but it's possible there is wastage in copying and resizing internal buffers.
      That is what i was thinking too, it's a shame i cant view the inner workings and create a similar VI with a smaller data type output specifically for 1-bit color depth files, and also try to minimize the number of copies in memory.
Though I would expect it to know that at the start and not waste time trying.
In any case, if you can read the file piecemeal (you'll have to know the PNG spec for that), then you can count them.
     That was my next step if i cant manage to get it working with more RAM and the built-in Read PNG File.vi. This would also take considerably more time as i would have to learn the PNG spec and write somethign to read it
     from scratch
Or maybe you can use an estimate? Open it in PicViewer and take a snapshot, then count the pixels in that and scale it up.
     Unfortunately I cant use an estimate. The reason we are using such a high resolution is that we are trying to very accurately measure the area of the black pads on this print. The reason we thought this might be a viable method is
      that this scanner can output up to 19200 dpi resolution, allowing us to measure down to ~50 um per pixel.

I receive an email from Outlook with attachments but when I forward it the attachments are lost.

One particular person sends attachments which I can open fine but I can't forward them unless I store them and re-attach. The attachments have "size unknown" label in the email.
A friend of mine who get the same emails from the same sender doesn't get the attachments at all. Her ISP gives "images blocked for your protection".
Can the sender do anything to fix this? All other mail and attachment work fine.

RTF = Microsoft proprietary and has no place in email. Email is HTML and Text.
Contact the sender and ask them to disable any RTF in their mail and point them to this http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/recipients-receive-a-winmail-dat-attachment-HA010153018.aspx..
The best solution is don't use Outlook.

How do I get Photoshop CS3 to always open .gif and .png files? Right now, fireworks opens them. Thanks.

Right click on image and select Open With. Follow leads and you can set a certain program to always open these types of files by program selected.
