Can Reliably Lose Sound Effects On 10.4.5

I found a way to reliably lose sound effects on Mac OS X 10.4.5. I will report this to Apple using Mac OS X feedback.
1) Enable Fast User Switching.
2) Login as user1 and note that sound effects work.
3) Without logging out as user1, login as user2 and note that sound effects work.
4) Without logging out as user2, go back to user1 and note that sound effects still work. Then logout from user1.
5) Go back to user2 and note that sound effects no longer work.
6) Reboot system to restore sound effects.

One question: are you using USB speakers? Have you tested this using only the internal speakers on your iMac?

Push and hold the select button on the remote while the content is playing. You should get an audio options menu. Guessing you selected one of the the secondary audio track options by mistake somewhere.

It's almost impossible to identify the effect as it is blended in with others and has probably been modified as well by the editor.
It could be one of thousands.
I've emailed you something that may be suitable.

Can you license sound effects for release on albums?

I am curious to know if it is possible for Sony Music or a similar company to license the sound effects from films and television shows onto albums. Of course, the company that Sony has been contracted with will need some form of agreement in order to allow the sounds to be released without legal issues between the companies nor with the customers.

Sound effects not working

Suddenly my iPad 3 with Retina display isn't playing sound effects in many apps. Music and videos playback audio fine. Sound effects in the Settings app work fine.
I can change the sound effect for sending Mail through the Settings app and hear what it should sound like, but when I send mail through the Mail app, I hear nothing. Some 3rd party apps sound fine, while others are now missing sound effects.

This might be caused by account settings.
If you have multiple accounts on your Mac sometimes when you do a fast
userswitch settings of the previous account don't update. If the previous user
had the volume muted in his settings, the account switch might not reset
this to the settings you set in your account. Now an os update or big server
maintenance, account cleaning session can cause these issues as well.
Try to log in to the account you used previously, make sure that sound
settings are ok, When sound is working now it's ok for your other account.

Bullet sound effects

Can you add sound effects to individual bullets in a presentation created with Keynote 3? If so, how?

When constructing the slide, if you pick a master slide with bullets, then you will only have a choice with "first bullet" and "other bullets", as you described. If I wanted to create the effect of sound intermixed with each individual bullet, then I would build it on a BLANK master slide, and create my own bullets, one by one. This way, you can control the actions of each bullet individually and synchronize it with the sound effects.
Let me know if you do ok with this. It would be nice if you could make use of the points system to award us points if our solutions were either "helpful" or solved the problem. Good luck

Soundtrack comes with loads of them. Also check out Garage Band's effects if you have it installed, here: Hard Drive/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/iLife Sound Effects.

Firefox and sound effects

How can I disable sound effects in Firefox?
For example, when right-clicking a link and clicking "open in a new tab" I hear a click. When closing a window with multiple tabs open I get a something like a "blip".
I'm using KDE and I have all other sound notifications disabled. No KDE application plays sound notifications, only Firefox does. I guess it could be related to Gnome, but I don't know how to turn the sounds of as I'm not using Gnome.

Sound effects at the touch of a button (key)?

Can anyone tell me how, using GarageBand or some other app, you can queue up sound effects, audio clips, etc. for instant replay? I hear this often done in podcasts or even live steams, but can't figure out any way to do it with the Mac. Yes, easy enough to generate GarageBand audio tracks and select them one-by-one for playback, but I'm looking for something with faster access. Ideally I could assign a key to each clip with an onscreen guide showing the assignments. For example, push '1' and you get the sound of a dog barking, push '2' to play back a voice recording, etc.

Great! That's exactly what I was looking for. I need help with one more item... I chose 'Sound Effect', Natural Sounds, etc., How do I get a list of those sounds so I can drag then to the keyboard? By accident, I somehow managed to do that. In the window below the timeline was a list of all the sounds available for that category, with small icons to the left of each. If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

Can i use purchased sound effects off iTunes in an iOS app? - copyright issue

basically I'm making an iOS app, and i need a sound effect that i purchased off the iTunes store, aka from some company. Can i use this sound effect in my app without being sued a lot of money? If i payed for the file i should be okay correct?

Here is the statement from the Terms and Conditions of the iTunes Store:
"You shall be authorized to use iTunes Products only for personal, noncommercial use."
We do not give legal advice on this Forum, but I think the statement is pretty clear.

Volume on max. Testing sound effects work perfectly.
Can hear usual sounds but not sound effects.
