There is a problem with iMessage with what Apple says is a small number of iPhones and they are working on a fix. In the meantime try this:
    1. Settings > Messages > iMessage = Off
    2. Settings > FaceTime > FaceTime = Off
    3. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    4. Wait for the iPhone to Reboot
    5. Settings > FaceTime > FaceTime = On
    6. Settings > Messages > iMessage = On
You may have to repeat the steps a couple of times.

    Hi there Matidp,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

  • How do you make imessage work? The icon is there. You can type in the recipient but are not allowed to hit the send button

How do you make imessage work? We upgraded to verision5. The icon is there. You can type the message but the send button is not available.

There is some instability in  iMessage.  It is a versatile and confusing app even though there are so few options in its use.
I had issues trying to get iMessage work on both my iPads and my iPhone.
ON the iPhone, turning off WiFi service and then trying iMessage fixed the problem.
On the iPad 2, same thing.  Turning off WiFi service fixed it.
On the iPad 1, I took a suggestion from zoomzoom and changed the WiFi network configuration on the iPad to use 8.8.8.8 as a DNS server and then use iMessage.  That fixed it.   Now I put the DNS back to default and it still works.
I suspect the iPod Touch will have the same fix as the iPad.
If you have a WiFi and 3G iPad or iPhone, try turing off WiFi and see if that fixes it.
Why?  (beware, some of this is guesswork)
iMessage can talk SMS to cellphones and smartphones (that are using the cell-network).  It can also talk Apple iMessage format to iPhones and iPads whether they are on cell-network or on WiFi.  If you are talking to an SMS cellphone, iMessage figures that out and blindly sends your message.  If you are talking to a iOS5 device, iMessage figures that out too, checks to see that they are on-line, and then does something different if they are or are not on-line.  If you type in an email address, and not a phone number, I think iMessage attempts to see if the email address is registered with Apple (or iCloud or whatever) and if it is not, it does something to let you know, possibly by making the Send button not light up.
In order to register iMessage and an email, you have to let the iOS device see whatever service it is that iMessage uses.  That is where the problem happenes.  zoomzoom suggested manually setting the WiFi DNS to google's 8.8.8.8 IP address, then run IMessage, and that seemed to fix the problem.  Setting the iOS device to use 3G-only (by turning off WiFi) also fixed the problem.  I suspect going down to StarBucks or McDonalds and using their WiFi would also fix the problem.  Once the problem is fixed, it doesn't seem to come back so I can't test these 'fixes'.
To change the DNS on your iPad find your WiFi networks configuration, click on the blue arrow, touch DNS, backspace over the number that is shown, type in 8.8.8.8    Then click on the WiFiNetworks button at the top of the screen.  Now go run iMessage.  After that, you can delete the DNS entry again and leave it blank.  Your iPad will fill it in from the WiFi router when it needs it.

  • The send button is greyed out when I try to text some but not all people from my iPod touch. Any ideas how I can fix this?

The send buttin is greyed out when I try to text some but not all people from my iPod Touch. This happens even when they have iPhone 4s. Any ideas why and how I can fix this?

This issue can be caused by the McAfee SiteAdvisor extension.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • I am using a iPhone 5 but now I don't see the send button anymore in the mail application

Can any one tell me how to have the send, reply and delete buttens back on the bottom of the screen.   It appears also that when I hit the change button in the list of mails, I only can put a red mark before the mail but don't have a possibility to delete the mails I marked.   The only way to delete a mail is to slide gently up the mail then a button appears to delete it.

close out of the mail app, then double tap the home button find the mail app hold down and close out of it.
Then go back into the mail app and see if those features came back.
If it doesn't do the above step again and then power off your phone and then back on.

  • I can't send messages to two contacts that I have entered into my iPad. The send button is greyed out?

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem please?

First of all anybody that you want to message with has to have messages already set up on their devices and they have to be registered to use Messages on their own. You cannot add them, they actually have to add themselves to use Messages. Messages only works with other iOS devices as well. You cannot text with any other cell phone or smartphone.
But if the contacts were not registered you would get a different message than a grey send button I think. Go to Settings>messages>Show Subject field. Make sure that Show Subject Field is set to OFF.

  • Can reply to email but not send original email

I've had my iPhone 4 for a month with no problems. Suddenly, I cannot send original email - the "send" button is greyed out. But I can send my replies to email!
No settings were changed. I restored the phone as per the suggestion of someone in the Apple store, but it made no difference.

What type of account is he using -- POP, IMAP or .mac?
How is he connected to the internet -- Dial-up, broadband with modem only, modem plus router, and/or wireless?

  • When I use "Email Link" with Firefox, the "send" button in Thunderbird is grayed out.

    OS X 10.9.4
The option of manually copying the link and pasting would work, but I've always been able to use "Email Link" from the "File" menu until the last few days.
Restarting the computer did not help.

Do you have an address in the address field? The send button stays greyed out until there is something in the address field.

I see you are on 10.6.8.   There have been a few Mail problems of late, particularly I notice, since the last security update.
Suggest you run the Snow Leopard combo update Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1  (again) even if you have previously done it.  Won't do any harm.
Then check software update and try again with mail.   You should be on mail 4.6. (1085)

  • After installing Mavericks my email isn't allowing me to draft a new message. I can see my messages, but cannot create a new message or reply to any messages. When I try nothing happens, then Mail freezes all together.

I can see my messages, but cannot create a new message or reply to any messages.
When I try nothing happens, then Mail freezes all together and usually crashes.
I was able to get into my Mail settings and everything looks ok as far as I can tell.
Has anyone else seen this? My software is completely up to date now (unfortunately).
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

    Do a backup.
    Quit Mail.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail.  Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.
