Output from EBS Excel is XHTML, so anything that understands that ... from memory Excel 2003 or higher but check doco.

How to use didcoverer reports with EBS 11i

hi all
how can we use dicoverer reports with 11i
how to register them,run them from 11i.
and where are these reports stored.like if i created a open periods report that shows all the open periods in AR,AP modules,where do i need to place these reports to run from applications 11i.
i never used discoverer,i am just asking these questions assuming discoverer reports work similar to that of reports 6i

Discoverer can be called from Oracle Apps or more usually from it's own XML version (Plus) or from it's own HTML version (Viewer).
Discoverer reports (workbooks) are created with a client / server version (desktop) or the XML version (Plus).
Once a workbook has been written it is possible to call it directly from Apps, but again, it's more usual to firing up Discoverer directly and going from there.

Thank you Helios. We are also exploring PO/PR approvals through Blackberry utilizing EBS-11i Notification Alerts. I have three questions
1. Whats difference between oracle Notification/Email Alerts AND Oracle Workflow Notification Alerts.
2. Is EBS-11i sufficient to exploit its email sender to receive aswell and work with NID embedded in email
3. Why do we need Application Server Wireless component!?! if we can receive normal emails with NID tag embedded through non wireless App server 10g setup. Our blackberries since receiving normal email fine can/may also receive NID tagged emails in same traditional manner.
Please guide.

Custom reports do not run with error message: Routine FDPREP cannot read ..

Can anybody help me with this issue pls?
The dev system is cloned from production a few days ago. After running the post clone procedure, the dev is working fine except when we are trying to run custom reports, it errorred out with error message - Routine FDPREP cannot read the file /fmis/11.5.0/reports/US/POXPRPO1.rep. I have checked the env files, and they seem ok. $CUSTOM_TOP is set to the correct value. Other standard Oracle reports are running properly. The custom report file extension is in low case (.rdf). I've even tried to compile the report manually by using rwcon60.sh, the rep file was created under that folder but concurrent manager is still giving the same error message. So I am suspecting whther it is the path issue, as from the error message we can see up there, it is not showing the absolute path. Can anyone pls shed some lights on this for me?

Echo $FMIS_TOP(Custom Top) returns /global/app/fdev/home/fdevapp/findevappl/fmis/11.5.0, which is the correct path.
Interesting thing is I checked the custom forms and they are working properly , our current configuration is form server and web server are sitting on one node, and CM, admin and database are sitting on the other node. So it seems it is the CM node settings caused the problem. However, I've just compared the APPSORA.env, customfindev_XXXXXX.env $FMIS_TOP (Custom Top) on the two nodes, and nothing seems out of ordinary.

We need more information to effectively assist you. What platform? Reports Developer Tool or through Application Server? Which 10g version (9.0.4 or 10.1.2)?

Report for payment runs with multiple bank accounts

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a report that displays the results of a payment run(or payment runs) & throws in some payables and cash information as well. The report should include the following information:
Supplier | Source document ID | Invoice ID | External Reference ID | Payment Run ID | Payment ID | 'Supplier Bank Account' that the payment was paid to | Payment Status (or potentially invoice status) | Payment Method
I've tried combining several data sources but can't seem to find the correct sources to join in order to get all these fields...Any help would be appreciated.

When you enter bank details in master, update field "Partner bank type" LFBK-BVTYP with free form value, may be currency is good choice.
During invoice entry, this field is available for update, update which bank to be used for payment of this invoice. You may build logic to populate this field, like substitution to populate currency in this field during invoice posting.
During payment, system checks value in field Partner bank type in invoice and selects corresponding bank.

1. Install what?
2. You want to create custom apps -- you mean you will be developing ordinary applications using Application Express. Good.
3. "Link into the EBS tables" means you want to access EBS tables from your application's parsing schema. Just grant privileges on those tables and/or the APIs you'll be calling to your schema.
4. Search this forum for keywords like "e-business" and I think you'll get some useful hits.

How do I use FND_GLOBAL.APPS_INITIALIZE to integrate with EBS 11i security?

We are trying to integrate APEX with Oracle Ebusiness Suite 11i. We are trying to integrate with the HR/Payroll application which uses FND_GLOBAL.APPS_INITIALIZE to set the security context to a user, responsibility and application id which defines who the session has access to for the session. When we make the call to FND_GLOBAL.APPS_INITIALIZE in either a before header process or in the VPD security attribute, we get no data. Using the same call in SQL*PLUS we get the data expected.
Any suggestions on how to get this to work? What are we missing?

Thanks for the reply. I have not tried passing in the parameters yet. I currently have the following hardcoded in a before header process.

END;
I do have FND_GLOBAL.USER_ID and FND_GLOBAL.RESP_ID in a report. The values returned are the same as those I have in the before header process.
For this user_id, responsibility_id and application_id I should get 1 row from per_people_f. It works in sqlplus, I get no data found in APEX.
Any further suggestions on what might be happening here?

9i or 10g application running with JAWS - activating List Boxes

The keyboard shortcut for activating List Boxes in a Web environment (either 9i or 10G) is to use ALT+DOWNARROW key. THis works absolutely fine when running without JAWS screen reader, but as soon as JAWS is loaded then ALT+DOWNARROW does nothing -- this seems to render any FORMS application inaccessible. I cannot believe that this is the case, given Oracle's position regarding section 508 / accesibility etc. Has anyone come accross this problem before, any ideas??

For web application using PL/SQL and the old Oracle Application Server, it doesn't make a lot of difference between 9iASR2 and 10g. Last year we migrated one of our critical web application from OAS to 9iASR2 with no change of code. The new system is actually much more stable with less system crash.
I would still recommend to migrate directly to 10g and skip 9iASR2.
The reason is 10g(9.0.4) is really a maintenance version of 9iASR2(9.0.2) with all the required bug fix and some new features. We have been trying to migrate some applications to 9iASR2 for more than 1 year now but some technical issue stopped the production implementation. We are currently waiting for the 10g Windows version or we may try out the Linux version.
There is a lot of good feedback related to 10g.

No. If you are indeed maintaining an IBM iSeries (or AS/400) or zSeries you probably know that IBM ships it with its own DB2 database and that this database is fully integrated in the OS.

Report Launcher to run with different Menus

We have a situation where we run reports from two parts of the same application. Each part has a different Menu, therefore we would like qms0012f (report launcher) to have the menu of the calling form/menu.

I am unable to test but you can try something like this,

Upgrade Database from 10203 to 11202 with EBS 11i

We are planing to upgrade our DB from 10203 to 11202 on HPUX.
The Application tier version is 115102
Does this upgrade is "transparent" to the application ?
Are there any specific pacthes / action i should apply in the application tier because of this upgrade ?

Does this upgrade is "transparent" to the application ? You need to consider applying couple of application patches (i.e. latest AutoConfig patches, latest Developer Patchset, ..etc).
