Can RMAN restore TS with different name?

Hi all,
I have the RMAN TS backup (let's say 'HR') and am trying to restore it in the same database into different TS (let's say HR_TEST). However, I could use expdp (datapump) method, but since I have RMAN TS backup running daily, and would like to take advantage of it. Any idea would greatly appreciated. By the way, I am running on 10.2.0.1 Sun Solaris. Thanks again.

I tried to export process. However, I ran into characterset problem and the error was
Export done in US7ASCII character set and AL16UTLF16NCHAR character set
Server uses WE8MSWIN1252 character set (possible charset conversion)
EXP-0056:ORACLE error 932 encountered
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected BLOB, CLOB got CHAR
I also set my global environment NLS_CHARACTERSET to WE8MSWIN1252, but did not work. Do you have any idea I should set my character set? Or maybe I should check into transport TS method? Thank you very much.

Error while restoring database with different name on subscriber

I am using merge replication in sql server 2008R2. Yesterday I wanted to create a test environment, so
I did:
1. on publisher I restored from backup production db with another name ( lets call it TEST and new files
.mdf, .ldf and no switch KEEP_REPLICATION). After this step original replication between production
dbs worked fine.
2. on subscriber I did the same: restore as new db TEST with new
files .mdf, .ldf and no switch KEEP_REPLICATION.
Unfortunately I noticed, that after second step replication stopped. SQL agent replication job on Subscriber
is gone.
Why restoring db with new name did affect original replication?
Finally the most important: replication was set up by external company and I have to bring it to live now
but I don't know this subject so good. How can I do it?
Assuming, that there is no data change on subscriber in replicated tables is it enough when I select ‘reinitialize’
on Publisher and Subscriber?

Sorry for late response, but I was out of the office during last week.
Regarding problem 1: restoring replication. I contacted guy who made originally our replication and he recreated subscription agent. So this is solved.
problem 2: why did it happen?
Lydia, in link which you provided I found only info about restoring db in replication, but I didn't want to restore replication.
I checked SQL Server and Server Agent logs and there were no entries on that time. The only entries are regarding db restoring. Below:

In Windows application log there were also no other entries, besides these above.
I also could not check job history, because the job was gone in SSMS jobs list, while the subscription was present in SSMS Replication with info, that last successful synchronization was at 12:42 (there is a 5 min. sync period).
I also don't understand how the job was deleted, because according this manual (http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/1803/auto-alert-for-sql-agent-jobs-when-they-are-enabled-or-disabled/) I have 2 triggers in sysjobs table and every time, when
job is deleted/disabled I got @ notification. In this case I got no @.
My SQL Server version:
Product_Version Product_Level Edition
10.50.2550.0 SP1 Standard Edition (64-bit)
Any idea what happened?

Can rman restore tablespace to a different tablespace name?

I was wondering that can RMAN restore a tablespace to a different name tablespace in the same instance? I have the full backup by RMAN, I wonder I can do that or not? Any helps would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
a tablespace is not necessarily a logical space to separate schema objects from one another (could be, but not necessarily, depends on your object distribution).
So what you need is: export your original user schema with the exp utility
then import this dump into another user schema with the imp tool (fromuser=old touser=new)
BEFORE you create the new user and you give it a different default tablespace. If you like to really separate the objects in tablespaces (like for transportable tablespaces) you may deny access to any of the tablespaces of old user to the new user. That makes sure data is not erroneously loaded in the old tablespaces.
Read the docs to understand this clearly if you like.

I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered

Backup and restore the wss_content db to the same server with different name

I want to restore the content db of 80 port in my sp 2013 web appln to a different web appl. is this possible?
By default wss_content is pointing to the 80 port. so if i wanna take the backup of this content db and restore it in the same machine as a different content db name, is this achievable?
if this is achieved, i want to mount this newly restored content db to a new web appln.

I can't restore 'library' with support files from Time Machine

backup - I can't restore 'library' with support files from Time Machine - Ask Different
Due to an accident, my entire applications folder with all the support files, including plists and caches got deleted.
I tried restoring by files from the most recent Time Machine backups but I cannot retrieve my applications with the support files.
I even tried it with migration assistant on a new image.
Is this impossible?
Must I start from scratch?
Details of the ‘accident’
I was using this app called ‘AppCleaner’ that also automatically deletes related support files which are normally left behind if one simply trashes an Application.
In the search view, I typed the app name and I selected all the apps in the results using Command + A. Unfortunately, this selected every single Application in the Applications Folder in the background and I trashed and deleted all files.
Anyway.
I tried to restore the applications and library from my Time Machine Back-ups but failed to do so because I didn’t have enough space to restore. (I have a 11inch Macbook Air 2012 64GB SSD
When I tried to restart in recovery mode, I had the same problem, I was disallowed the option to restore using my time capsule backups because my SSD didn’t have enough space for the backup.
I then tried to restore it to a totally different but new image on a 64GB USB3.0 Sandisk USB Stick, but the process stopped after hours of being stuck around 30.4 percent and the computer was unable to boot, leaving me with a persistent verbose message suggesting it couldn’t identify the os, kernel or anything.
I finally tried restoring the state using migration assistant on the very same SSD that had my files missing. This happened successfully and I have all my applications in the applications folder.
But now I have 13GB free (I had 2GB before) and all my application support files, saved states, preferences, caches and customizations are gone.
Basically, it feels like I just got a new macbook with my documents and itunes folder loaded on to it.
How can I get my apps back to the pre-deletion state or is this impossible? Do I have to start from scratch? I thought my Time Machine Backups would restore it to exactly the same state, am I wrong?

Can you simply navigate to your Time Machine backup with the Finder? Treat it like an external hardrive and just look for your old Applications folder. /Applications/
Also, quite a few apps put config and support files in ~/Library/Application\ Support/
So you may be able to get the files from there as well.

Install many executable on the same PC with different names

I'm trying to install several executables with different names in the same computer but at the end of install process the message is : "an higher or existing version is already installed in this computer"
I create the Executable and Setup with LabVIEW Application Builder and install the executable in the same Program Files root directory with a different sub-directory for each executable as this : Program Files-->MyProject-->SubProjet1 with exe1/SubProject2 with exe2 etc...
My OS is WinXP pro SP2 and I work with LabVIEW 8.5.

From what I understand, you are trying to create multiple executables of a vi project to co-exist on the same PC. Any time you re-use the LabView 8.x project file, it will generate
install package with the same product ID number. That means, if the
deployed PC has the previous version installed, which had been
generated from the same project file, the new install package will
remove the previous version and overwrite it with the new version. Or as in your case, not allow you to install lower versions of the executable. That
means, the previous version will be no longer available on the deployed
PC. If you are creating an upgraded version to the product this is
fine.
However, if you need to re-use the LabView 8.x project
file and generate a new product, which can potentially co-exist with
the previous on the end user PC, you need to generate a new installer
with a different product ID number. One of the way to do it:
Copy existing project file (e.g. "name1.lvproj") under a different name (e.g. "name2.lvproj")
Open the new instance of the project
Expand the "Build Specifications"
Right click on the installer specification, e.g. "name1 Installer"
Select "Duplicate" from the menu
You can now delete the instance "name1 Installer" and rename the "Copy of name1 Installer" to a suitable name, e.g. "name2 Installer"
Make changes that are needed between the two versions, for example:
Select a new source VI
Build a new exe file
Reflect the new exe file in the "name2 Installer"
Make
any other changes needed in "name2 Installer", for example different
documentation files included in install, change in the target install
directories, changes in the start menu shortcuts. etc.
Build the install.

To create multiple files with same content but with different names

here i have got a tricky situation on Idoc to File Scenario.
in my interface of an Idoc to file ,there is requirement to create multiple files with different file names but with same content based on one Idoc Segment.
which means there will be one Zsegment with two fields in the idoc,where one field with (content refers to the name which file name should start with .so lets say if this segment is repeated for 3 times then PI should create 3 files in the same directory with same content but with different file names (from the filed).
so here for now iam using one reciever file communication channel.
can any body give me the quick answer.

What do you mean by different names?
when i make proper setting in the Receiver Channel....on how to create the filename (what to append) like add Timestamp, counter, date, messageid.....even in this case you will ahve file with different names and that too from same File channel.
You can perform multi-mapping in XI/ PI and then your File channel will place the files in the target folder with relevant names. You cannot use Dynamic Configuration with Multi-Mapping!
If you intend to use different File channels, then do the configuration as required (normal)...even over here you can follow multi-mapping.
Do not use a BPM!

Do we have any utility or command in solaris 8 where we can check for files in two folders with different names and display them somewhere? Manual search for such files becomes very difficult when there are a large number of files in the folders. Please suggest.

Unable to copy database with different name in the same instance

I had a huge database and wanted to try some change optimization changes.
So wanted to make a copy of the database along with data in the same instance.
I have tried copy database wizard several times but always see the error as in attachment.
Can someone let me know how to troubleshoot further?
If this is not the correct way please suggest how do i copy a database with different name in the same instance along with data.

From the screenshot, the error 1813 happens when corrupt database log is attempted to attach to the SQL Server. To work around this issue, please preform the following steps, for more details, please review this
blog.
1. Create a new database with same name which you want to recover. Make sure that the MDF file and LDF file have same name with previous database data and log file.
2. Stop SQL Server. Move original MDF file from old location to new location by replacing just created MDF file. Delete the LDF file of new location just created.
3. Start SQL Server. At this point, the database is in suspect status.
4. Make sure that system tables of Master database allows to update the values. Please note that you will be performing this in query window.
Use Master
go
sp_configure 'allow updates',1
reconfigure with override
go
5. Change database mode to emergency mode.
SELECT *
FROM sysdatabases
WHERE name = 'DatabaseName'
BEGIN
UPDATE sysdatabases
SET status = 32768
WHERE name = ' DatabaseName '
COMMIT TRAN
6. Restart SQL Server. Then execute the following DBCC command in query window to create new log file.

DBCC REBUILD_LOG(databasename,'c:\yourdatabasename_log.ldf')

7. Reset the database status using following command.
sp_RESETSTATUS yourdatabasename
GO
8. Turn off the update to system tables of Master database running following script.
USE MASTER

sp_CONFIGURE 'allow updates',0
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
GO
9. Reset the database status to previous status.
BEGIN
UPDATE sysdatabases
SET status = (value retrieved in first query of step 5)
WHERE name = 'DatabaseName‘
COMMIT TRAN
GO
Make sure that you have done all the steps in order and restarted SQL Server where it is mentioned. Also run SQL Server Management Studio as administrator.(Right click-> Run as Administrator)

Same SKU with different names in 2 systems

Hello All,
I am wokring on a SNP scenario. We have a finished sku A and its sub component sku C.
A (FERT) ---> C (RM)
We have forecast on sku A and want to find dependent demand in sku C thru SNP
Forecast A -
> Find Dependent Demand C
sku A maintained in ERP1 R/3 system as FERT
sku C maintained in ERP 1 R/3 system with different name sku B as Raw material
sku C maintained in ERP2 R/3 system as FERT
Now product A is maintained in one R/3 system and product C is in another R/3 system. Both these R/3 systems are connected to APO and both these materials are also in APO now.
After heuristic planning in SNP, we want to pass the dependent demand to ERP2 system as Sales Order.
My concern is if sku C has different name in 2 systems, how should I pass the demand to other system?
Please advice.

Maybe you can create SKU D in APO (and R3) which is lined through PPMs or PDS to SKU B from ERP1 and SKU C from ERP2 and aggregate the dependent demand generated during Heuristics to SKU D
then you can only transfer only SKU D to ERP2? Am not sure how important it is for you to hav the link between SKU D and SKU c in ERP2
Alternately
Dont transfer SKU C from ERP2 to APO. Only create Dependent demand for SKU C from ERP1 and transfer it to ERP2. You can run MRP again in ERP1 for the aggregated requirement (unless you want some APO specific functionality, the result must be close to what you will get in APO)

Saving png photos with different names..

Hello guys,
I am not not so familiar with Labview so i would like some help. I have a Vi which is actually controlling 32 RBG lights.We use DMX protocol..everytime one led is on then we take a picture and then the led goes off..Then the second goes on end so on..we have 8leds in 4corners..So we have corner1_led1,corner1_led2 untill corner4_led8 .So in the end we have 32 png photos saved.What i want is to save the photos with different names and the numbers to start from 1 instead of 0.. For example if we select white light and save the images as "new" the images are going to be named "new_white_0_0" instead of "new_white_1_1" . Do you have any idea how i can change it?

The indexing terminal (the [ i ] in the for loop) starts at 0. When creating your filename, use the "increment" primitive from the numeric palette. Then your file names will start at 1 instead of 0.
I noticed from your VI that you do a lot of string concatenation to build the file name/path, you can use the format into string and build path VIs to make the block diagram look a little simpler. You could also update the deprecated functions (e.g. the open file) with the modern equivalents.

Is it posible to create objects with different names dinamically?

Hi,
I'm creating an app that manages different wireless nodes in a network and I was thinking that I could create a class called Node which would have a constructor that every time I created an object Node, I would pass the address and some other data about the Node and the constructor will save all that data and also create a unique ID for every Node object.
Now the problem is that I need to be able to discover all the nodes in my network every time the user clicks a Ping button. So every time the users clicks Ping I need to do a ping and create as many Node objects as nodes I have in my network. The thing is I don't know how to make it create the node objects with different names so after I've created all the nodes objects I can refer to one of them.
Something like this.
int Id=0;
id++;
Node node+Id = new Node();
I think its not possible to do something like that. If it isn't how can I do to refer to one of the objects I've created?

We are developing an Illutrator CS4 plug-in. we have source code of the plug-in. we need to add some extra features to that plug-in and build with new name. older one will work as it was. and newer one will work with new features. So both plug will resides same place with different name. the problem is, when I compile older soruce code and change the plug-in name. I'm getting error while loading plug-in it looks "older and newer version get conflict while name is different.
Is Illustrator maintain any unique ID for each plug-in. if so, then where should i look for in my code?
How do Illstrator recognize if same plug-in will place with different name?
Any help would be appriciated.

I don't believe Illustrator has anything like a UID for plugins. If you want them to co-exist, either make them named differently or put them in different sub-folders.
On a related note, you CAN optionally set a plugin's name. You could then iterate over the plugin list at start up (before you set your name) and see if there's already a plugin with the same name. We do this to *prevent* our plugin from loading twice, but you don't seem to want that. I only mention this because this is about as close to 'unique identifiers' that AI gets, and frankly nothing stops you from having multiple plugins with the same name.
