Can Run-Time Engine 6.0 runs on Window XP?

I have a 6i LabView application and I did build Run-Time Engine 6.0 for that! My boss asked me that if our customer has Window XP and does not have LabView 6i whatsoever, with Run-Time Engine 6.0 install, will have any problem?

As this Compatibility article states, you won't have to worry about.

  • LabVIEW 2009 SP1 Run-Time Engine (Minimum) (32-bit) for Windows - Supported Features

    Hi,
Can some one please point out what features are supported by the LV RTE (Minimum ) [LabVIEW 2009 SP1 Run-Time Engine (Minimum) (32-bit) for Windows]
    1) Is there a limit on the size of the exe which can be run on it?
    2) Will this support additional modules like DAQ etc.,? Or do we have to chose the regular installer ( 170 Mb ) for that purpose?
    3) If a list of what it does or does not support is available, it would be extremely helpful.
    Thanks In advance.
    Regards,
    Vijay

    Anand,
I did go through both the links that you had sent earlier before posting on the forum. For eaxample refer the following link where it says,
    http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/lang/en/id/1599
It does not contain the full run-time engine, but will allow some executables to run.
    1) What do they mean by 'some' executables. Is there a list of yay's and no's available?
    2) Can someone from NI reply to this and shed more knowledge?
    Regards,

  • Is Labview Run-Time engine 2009 SP1 compatible with Windows 8

I potentially need to install a Labview executable and Run-time engine 2009 on a Windows 8 OS.  From looking at the run-time engine support, it only looks like it only shows windows 7 down to XP.  Does anyone have any experience using Runtime 2009 on Windows 8?

    Hi Awhite144,
The first version of LabVIEW to officially support Windows 8 is LabVIEW 2012 SP1. That being said, I would expect LabVIEW 2009 to work fine on Windows 8, and if you run into any trouble, feel free to post it here. LabVIEW 2012 SP1 installs a number of older LabVIEW run-time engines (including LabVIEW 2009), so it will install on Windows 8.
I have not personally used LabVIEW 2009 on Windows 8, maybe if someone else has experience with it they can weigh in, but I expect it to work.
As an important consideration, I assume you are talking about the full version of Windows 8, not Windows 8 RT.

  • Run-time engine doesn't run ('network error')

    Hi,
I'm trying to get the RuntimeEngine 7.0 to work on my Win2K PC, which is behine a corporate firewall. The webpage is being setup at an university which I don't believe to have any access restrictions. When I try to access the data page I got the 'network error' message.
Is this because I'm behind the firewall? Is there any setting I can do to gain access?
    Thanks!

This sounds like a problem with your network setup. Have you tried running the page from a computer that is not behind the firewall? You might want to try talking with your network admin. The data for remote front panels is not wrapped in HTTP, which is probably why your firewall is rejecting the data.

  • Can't install LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 6.1 on Windows Terminal Server

With my system admin, we tried to install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 6.1 on our Windows Terminal Server NT4. And we get an error all the time:
    -install using the plugin
    -install using LVRTE.exe
    -install after rebooting the server
But I remember that we could install the Run-Time Engine 6.0 on another Windows Terminal Server NT4.
Is there any compatibility issues with the new Run-Time Engine 6.1 ??
    Thanks for your help
    Cyrille

    Cyrille,
What is the error that you get when trying to install the run-time engine?
Are you installing it from the LabVIEW CD, or did you download it from the web site?
To further troubleshoot this problem, it would be best if you send us an email to [email protected] and send the above information.
Also, try running the installer from the command prompt window, and use the following syntax:
    setup.exe/l*v
This will save the error log to the file you specify. Send us also this file to help us troubleshoot.

  • Error on installation of LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.5.1: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"

    Hi,
a colleague in India cannot install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.5.1 on Windows XP. On attempting to install, an error box is shown, which says:
    (window title)
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library:
    (message box text)
    Runtime error!
    Program: C:\National Instruments Downloads\LabVIEW 8.5.1\Runtime Engine\setup.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    http://img529.imageshack.us/my.php?image=runtimeerrorvt7.jpg
I didn't find any relevant clues for this in NI forums. A search at Google brought me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884538/en-us, offering a HotFix to solve the problem. Unfortunately, the installation of this HotFix does not solve the problem.
Do you know this behavior and do you have any ideas how the problem can be solved?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to install Vision run-time engine to a desktop PC converted to real-time target

    Hi, all
I don't know how can I install the vision run-time engine to a desktop PC which I converted to a real-time target.  The same problem applies to installing real-time run-time engine and labview run-time engine to the real-time target.  The only way to install software to real-time target is through "add/remove software" in MAX for remote system, but it is not for all types of run-time engine installation.
I am also confused about how to activate those run-time engines for the desktop PC as real-time target.
    Please help and great thanks.

  • Installing run-time engine 7.0 on windows NT

I attempted to Install Labview run-time engine 7.0 (LVRunTimeEng), on windows NT with workgroups 4, but got the message wrong OS. I am sure I downloaded the correct version (which is supposed to support Windows NT). Anyone have the same problem ? Anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance

This message comes from the MSI installer engine. The engine requires Service Pack 6 to be installed on NT 4.0 systems. Can you verify that you have this service pack.

    Hi,
There can be many reasons why this error would appear. Most probably, you have a broken installation of the Run-Time engine.
Just reinstall the run-time engine from the LabVIEW 6.1 CD. You can also download it from our web site:

  • Run-Time Engine 7.0 and Excel

I found out that Run-Time Engine 7.0 running executable generated at LabVIEW 7.0 environment (code written in LabVIEW 7.1 but save as 7.0) cannot open Excel 2000 files. If I replace Excel 2000 with Excel 2003 application on my pc, the executable code will open the Excel file (Run-Time Engine 7.0 works with Excel 2003).
Is the Excel 2003 and higher versions will only work with Run-Time Engine 7.0 and higher code?
How can I make executables using Run-Time Engine 7.0 work with Excel 2000 (Windows 98 operating system)??? (I cannot change Excel and Run-Time Engine and OS versions due to limitations, how can I work with what I have?).
    Thanks for your help.

  • The program doesn't find the run time engine

I create an executable before normaly and after like an installer. When I try it into computer with full LabView licence the program works, but if I install it into a different pc, it requires me to install the run time engine, but the run time engine is installed into the pc. What kind of error can generate this problem?

    Hi vsara
Mike is correct, you need the VISA runtime to use VISA functions in an executable. If you don't want to install it as a standalone you can include it in your installer as an additional installer.

  • Error involving Report Generation Toolkit and Labview Run Time Engine

Developed an application using LabVIEW 6.1 and LabVIEW Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office 1.0.1. From there, tried to build a shared application for use with the LabVIEW Run Time Engine. The Run Time version functions properly until "New Report.vi" is called and then an error is generated, code 7, calling out "Open VI Reference in New Report.vi" could not be found. When building the application, I did include the "NI Reports Support" in the advanced installer options. The machine used for original development and application build is running Windows XP Pro and Office XP. Any suggestions??

I am having the exact same problem but with LV 6.1 and M/S WORD 2000. It appears that the "New Report.vi" is trying to open "C:\APP.DIR\Word_Open.vi" and "C:\APP.Dir\Word_Open_Document.vi" by reference. The "OFFICE 2000.TXT" says that "_exclsub.llb and _wordsub.llb must be added as support files when building an application or a dynamic link library with the application builder." I added them as Support Files and I copied them to the "C:\TESTER\" where the TESTER.EXE is and I still get ERROR 7 in "NEW REPORT.VI" at VI OPEN REFERENCE.
Do I need to make a "C:\TESTER\DATA\" sub-dir and put the support files there?
I am building on MY COMPUTER on F: Drive on a network and transporting files to the real Tester.
    I displayed my App.Property of APP.DI
R at start up and it is C:\TESTER\ ! How would my application know that "Word_Open.vi" and "Word_Open_Document.vi" are actually inside the _wordsub.llb?
    Any ideas ?

  • Can't install run-time engine on Ubuntu 8.04. Get /bin/sh failed to load.

Simply receive a message when trying to install the LabView run-time engine .rpm file that says /bin/sh failed to load (or is required, I forget exactly).  I checked, I have BASH installed, and /bin/sh is a shortcut to an executable on my machine.  Is this a bug in the installer, or is there something else I need?

LabVIEW installation is not supported on Debian based Linux systems (of which Ubuntu is the most popular).  However, many people have had success installing to various flavors of Ubuntu.  You can search these forums using the key Ubuntu and find the problems they had and how they solved them.  If you cannot find an answer to your problem, let us know.

  • Can I run two separate versions of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine on one PC?

Hello, I am curious if anyone knew if it is possibly to install and use two separate versions of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine on one PC?  I currently have the 2009 Run-Time Engine installed on one machine and wanted to install the 2011 Run-Time Engine as well. I know that you can run two separate versions of the LabVIEW program on one machine, but what about the Run-Time Engine?
    Thanks!

I'm guessing this is a bug that NI needs to fix.  I see no reason you shouldn't be able to install the run-time engine of an older version.  I'd be interesed in if it allows you to install the older development environment, which also includes the older run-time engine.  There are some command line switches for NI installers as mentioned here:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C361087EE9F20810862577850073128E
I wonder if there is a force install option.

  • How can I uninstall Labview run time engine from the machine?

I understand that Labview has not given any provision to show customized 'License Agreement screen'. Isn't it? This is the main cause of my problem. Since I want to show our own license agreement (LA) screen, I made the one using Labview. To show this license agreement screen, I first install a small application which has only this LA screen with Labview run time engine. The customer can see License Agreement Screen with Labview Run Time Engine on his machine. If My customer accepts the LA, I will install the main application further by calling another setup.EXE file.
If my customer selects 'Do Not Agree' to the LA, I will quit the installation process. Here I also want to 'uninstall' Labview Run Time Engine
from his machine since he doesn't accept License. I would like to know how to uninstall Labview run time engine from his machine?
Another way which I could think is to run the LA screen from the CD with Labview run time engine on the CD. I will start installing the main S/W to the customer's machine with LABview Run Time Engine only after he accepts License agreement. I would like to know how to run the Labview application from CD without installing run time engine on the target machine?
Can anyone suggest solution to my problem?
    Thanks,
    Chander

    J-Tek,
I would suggest re-installing the Run-time Engine and then uninstalling it after a reboot. Also, you can download a program called Msicuu.exe (for NT, 2000, XP or Msicu.exe for 9x) to help clean up the registry for uninstalled programs.
