Can SCCM delete print drivers?

Can SCCM remove print drivers from a deployed PC?
I may be in the wrong community.  If so, please point me in the correct direction.
We have roughly 400 printers installed on Server 2012 R2.  We are implementing a new Windows print solution due to our 2008 R2 cluster's erratic behavior.
We created a one node development box that is in place for now.
When we switched from the cluster to a stand alone solution, we had about 150 drivers that became corrupted and would not print until we performed a number of steps to remove the "broken" driver package and replace the driver of the same type from
our driver store by hand.
1. Select affected printer, go to local driver store to note location of the print driver files
2, Delete existing printer
3. Stop spooler
4. Delete driver files
5. Restart print spooler
6. Run GPUPDATE /FORCE to reapply the printer with a working driver.
Before we go live with our new solution we would like to remove the driver and package using SCCM if possible hoping to avoid the same situation.
Our current deployment method is using Security Groups (memberships) and separate GPOs to push the assigned printer to the proper Windows 7 32 bit OS PCs.
Any ideas?

The simple answer is If you can script those task then CM07 and deploy it out to either computers and/or user.

  • Find deleted printer drivers

Had a bit of a problem with my pc ... a software glitch , meaning i had to re install Leopard. In doing this , as i did not have room on my hard drive , i deleted Printer Drivers , Additional fonts and maybe something else. How can i get the Printer Drivers [2] back without having to reinstall them both again?

If you don't have enough room then try to install only the printer driver family you need instead of installing all of the printer drivers. If that's not going to work then you have to little free space on your hard drive which is a potential problem. You will need to delete files in your Home folder you no longer need or move them to an external hard drive. Long-term: replace the hard drive with a bigger one or start storing your files on external media.

How can I delete printed job list Delete jobs grayed

Apple lets you see a list of what is printed out but there is no way to erase the list and mine is two years of all that printed out. I want to erase it but there is no place to get rid of the list or the items on it. Epson said it was an Apple problem. Apple doesn't seem to know the answer. You can only delete jobs when it is not grayed out and it is usually for those you have not printed . I am hoping someone can figure it out.

  • Can't delete printer - client-error-not-found

After messing around with the installation of a cups based network printer (via a local Suse server) I came across some strange problems with my printer setup utility. Currently, I can neither delete nor add a printer from the list for the current user. When trying to delete a previously installed network printer I get an error message that the printer could not be removed (client-error-not-found). When trying to add a new printer I won't get an error message, but the printer is not being added to the list anyhow.
I already tried to reset the printing system both with the printer setup utility and with the Printer Setup Repair Tool from Fixamac, both without success.
I have to note that for user root everything works fine!
    Any suggestions?

Well, I succeeded in solving the problem by myself ...
The problem was a local .cupsrc file containing some apparently wrong settings. Removing this file solved the problem ...

  • Deleting print drivers on Windows Server 2008 R2 without Print Role

    Hi,
I'm using Windows Server 2008 R2 with Citrix Xenapp for published desktops meaning that i need to add a number of different printers to the server for the various users. Unfortunately i have some printer drivers that i think are conflicting and want to remove
    these from the server.
How can i do this without adding the Print and Document Services role? Without this role i don't believe i can access 'Print Management' in the same way that i would with a Windows 7 client and then remove the driver package.
Is there another way that i can do this or should i be adding this role just to remove these drivers and then perhaps removing the role (if necessary), assuming that this is possible?
    Thanks for any help.

add the tools for print management
    in elevated cmd window
    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:Printing-AdminTools-Collection
If you already have local shared prints on the server, add the role.  Adding the Role installs the tools and opens the File and print sharing firewall port which would have been achieved by adding a shared printer. You do not need to add the Print
role to setup a machine as a print server, it's not a requirement.

  • HP Connect vs Eprint can't delete print job causing log jam

I have used eprint for years and recently been transfered to HP Connected.
In Eprint if a job failed to print following jobs would not print until the problem job was deleted.
In HP Connected I can tick the box for the job causing the problem but the delete (and other options) at the top remain unshaded so it does not allow that job to be deleted.  This means I cannot clear the log jam.
Do I need to resort to making a new email for the printer and starting again ?
Any help much appreciated, I tried HP customer help but haven't had any luck so far.
    Joel

Hi Joel. To enable full use of the Collections tab, you should have received an email to 'confirm your email'. Have you received this email from HP Connected and clicked the big orange button?
The other factor, is that the jobs in the queue that are 'stuck' will most likely have to fail before they can be deleted. You will not have to get a new email, but you will have to figure out why they are stuck.
The hpconnected site will show you your printer status on the devices tab. Does it say you are online and ready?
You can turn off your printer (unplug it). Pull the plug on your router for 10 seconds or so and then plug it back in. When the router returns to life, power on the printer. When the printer comes back online you need to print an 'info page' or web services report. This can fix this sort of behavior. The process can vary from printer to printer (depending if it has an Eprint button, or Web Services Icon on the front of the printer). What is the model number of printer?

  • I can't download printer drivers to my HP Pavillon dv6-6108us Laptop

I am trying to dowload the printer drivers for a HP Photosmart Premium 309g-m printer.  I get the following error message:
My operating system is not Windows XP, it's Windos 7, 64 bit.  See below:
I've tried multiple times to download the software and it either just stops installing or I get the above error message.

  • Issues With Deleting Printer Drivers

I'm currently using an Epson Stylus Photo 1400, and when I went to Epson.com to try and download the software that checks the ink levels, does diagnostics, etc, I accidently downloaded their EasyPrint which basically strips down the settings available from the print windows in applications to make it "easier" to print. As a serious photographer, I need to be able to alter all of the settings I'm used to, such as print quality, color settings, etc, which are not accessible now that EasyPrint is installed... I've tried installing the printer's normal drivers again, deleting it from my printer list and adding it back (and selecting the correct driver), but I still cannot access the more advanced controls. I tried looking in the Library>Printers folder, but there's only an icon for my printer's queue. Any ideas as to how I can uninstall this pesky software?

I'm not too familiar with Epson printers, but I know that HP printers have to be uninstalled using a special HP uninstaller. Perhaps Epson has something similar. You might see if the support section of the Epson website can tell you how to completely uninstall what you have now so you can do a fresh install of what you really need.
    Good luck!

  • Can't find printer drivers on HP or Apple websites for Mavericks

I have a HP 3050 j610a All-In-One printer that I can not install on my Mac running the latest Mavericks 10.9 OSX.  The HP website sends me to Apple Software Update and Apple says software for this printer is not available (although I found a list of supported printers that includes this printer).  So I am literally stuck in the HP-Apple limboland.  Any ideas anyone?

    Hi,
Click the Apple icon, select Software Update and select any listed HP or Apple Update, then reboot your Mac and try adding the printer again.
If the same persists, rey resetting the printing system as following:
*Be aware that resetting the printer system will remove any existing print queue and reset any customized driver settings.
Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences .
    Select Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl + click) your product in the Printers list in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system .
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type your user Name and Password .
Click OK . The printing system resets.
Now try adding the printer again.

    Competion?
    I don't think so..
I just explain with graphics your suggestion...
so you could be the winner
If you trash the preferences do you not have to go through all the Score Project Settings and reset them all? Layout, Numbers and Names.. many menus and details that would take a lot of time to re-set ( certainly in my system as most regular scores users have a lot of specific settings here).
Layout, number are song setting inside logic preferences project
if you delete Logc preferemces the song never will be affected by any change
Deleting preferences and exporting Key Commands is a *last resort* - you are misdirecting the OP's time to suggest this before trying my suggestion which applies directly to the problem he is having and which could solve his printing problem in about 2 seconds. What if there is nothing else wrong with his system? If my suggestion doesnt work then by all means try a lengthier one
seems that you don't understand... I'm talking about deleting Printer drivers preferences
this is the first my advice...
because print option is not Logic function... so, creating a new user could be a good idea in order to understand where is locoted the printing ERROR!
It is a common feature of the system that is shared by all applications!!!
PS yo fermusic ... an excellent graphic - as usual .. you remember I complimented you before.. so lets not get too cross with each other - peace
you are welcome... because My first directive is not the competition ... but it is to achieve a good result ...
I am not "errors free man"
but I know that these errors can help you (and maybe also me) to achieve a better result.

... but a winner there must be ... because this is stimulating for creativity ... the reasons are important! (just my opinion)

DO NOT DELETE ENGLISH OR ANY ARCHITECTURES UNLESS YOU ARE REALLY REALLY SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!!!
It will really really screw up your system, so as with anything system related make sure you have a full back-up before you do anything!
As for deleting printer drivers, I have no clue... anyone?
