Can Second Monitor Play VLC Videos?

I use a mid 2012 Mac Pro; run Mavericks. I plan to use my TV as a second monitor. I know that I have to use AppleTV to connect wirelessly to my TV. Will AppleTV allow me to play "VLC" videos?

Sounds like you have "other" issues, perhaps a corrupt cache file.
Backup your data off the machine just in case and disconnect all drives, then run all of OnyX's maintenance and cleaning aspects and be sure to reboot at the end.
See how that works for you, like giving your OS X a enema.

After uninstalling and downloading the latest Abobe Flash player, I can no lnger play youtube videos. I get the message "blocked plug-in". It works in Firefox, but not Safari.

How do I get my Mac Pro to see the second monitor through a video splitter and/or switcher?

In a recording studio we have a Mac Pro with two video display monitors in the control room and we want to be able to show the content of the second monitor to the person in the recording room on a big display monitor there. However, when we interpose a switcher or splitter between the computer and the second monitor so that we can (with a switcher) switch the second monitor signal from the control room monitor to the record room monitor or (with a splitter) split the signal to go to both monitors, we have no luck. On startup the computer does not see the monitor through the switcher, so it doesn't recognize its existence. If we start the computer up without the switcher in the signal chain, it sees the second monitor just fine, and (weirdly enough) we can then change the cabling to interpose the switch, which then works to switch back and forth between second monitors (control room and record room), but that cable swapping's a royal PITA. We want a simple solution that will allow us to start up the computer, see the second monitor in the control room, then choose to show it to the person in the record room with a simple flip of the switch (or even better, split the signal so it's available both places). We have a full ProTools HD Accel 3 system installed, so there's no room to install a second video card. Thanks.

I did say when you want to connect three monitors to 5x70's there are some rules to adhere to. These are covered in the first two apple docs mentioned above, or by title:

The general gist of these rules is that to drive three monitor son a 5x70 you need two active adapters. That is why one of your monitors was disabled when you tried to add a third.
Here's a good explanation of what's going in here and why you need two active adapters on these cards:

If you use DVI monitors and any of them have resolutions less than 1920 x 1200 then you can use single link active adapters. The "AMD Eyefinity Validated Dongles" chart shows some active (and passive) adapters that are acceptable. For example of a single link DVI active adapter is the Accell B087B-006B. An example of a dual link DVI active adapter would be the one from monoprice.com if you need to connect monitors with a resolution greater than 1920 x 1200.
I'm doubtful that SwitchResX would be able to convince the computer that there were only two monitors connected and direct the second monitor signal to the correct place, but it certainly seems worth a try, so thanks for the idea! Any other ideas are still welcome in the meantime.
I'm not doubtful. It is a very powerful utility for dealing with all aspects of multiple monitor configurations (they call them "Display Sets") complete with forcing EDID information if necessary. The different configurations can be controlled with a (contextual) menu and/or hot key.
SwitchResX is academic at this point if you want to have all three monitors connected. You would need to get that working first. Then use SwitchResX to vary the configuration combinations. So if you go this route the "name of the game" is figure out the active adapters you need.
I only described in general terms above about the adapters since you never said exactly what kind of connections these monitors require (single link DVI, dual link DVI, hdmi, mini-displayport, vga).

Actually, I myself was not satisfied at the quality at which the video CD was playing in the VLC player on my Mac. In fact I felt that the quality of video CD which I had watched on a small and even cheap DVD player I have was of a superior quality.
I shall try out what you have suggested but have this apprehension and this doubt: my apprehension is that the CD would be a protected one which I would'nt be able to copy; and my doubt is this...how or what app should I use to copy the video CD onto a drive?

Could I ask a couple of questions please?
It would almost seem from your description that the video is not completely or correctly recorded or that it is some how corrupted. From your description it appears that with the internet connection on - you are able to stream but not play it otherwise
1. Is this just one affected video or is it happening with other videos as well?
2. Any chance you can delete and re record the video and see if that solves the problem?

I can no longer play HD videos on any website.

I'm going to start off by saying, I'm almost certain it's not my internet. Latency in games and my browsing experience is exactly the same, the only thing that has changed is my video.
This has been a problem for a month or two, I used to be able to watch HD videos and streams with no trouble, but out of NOWHERE I tried to watch a video in 1080p and it was laggy.
It would load fine but the video itself would look really jerky, as if it was only loading a few frames per second. When I would pause the video the pictures would still play until the video caught up with the time it was at.
I've tried a handful of things such as; disk defrag, restoring computer to factory settings, downgrading to an older version of flash player, different browsers, deleting all of my history, uninstalling Shockwave Player and reinstalling it, watching 1080p videos on another computer in the house using the same internet (and it worked fine).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was making a joke about p**n videos. There are innumerable video codecs out there and only a few of them have Mac versions. The authors don't care if Mac users can't view the video, because they don't care if anyone can view the video. They just want Windows users to download and install the codec and, more importantly, the virus that comes with it. To add to what Mayahyuk asked, are you also using a previous version of iMovie '08 or performing a manual QT conversion of iMovie '08? As previously indicated, Sony video clips when imported to previous versions of iMovie or when converted by QT. This is because Sony stores its video in a "muxed" format that is only playback supported by QT. Previous versions of iMovie automatically convert such files for editing as part of the import process losing the audio. (Manually converting the files in QT applications does also loses the audio.)
Can I do something to make the sound play?
In the case of Sony's MPEG-1 clips, simply use an MPEG-based, third-party conversion application to convert the video arnd retain the audio. Applications like iSquint (free), MPEG Streamclip (free), FFmpegX (donation-ware), Visual Hub (pay-ware), etc. will handle this.

iSquint would likely help in your case as you can drop "handfuls" of clips to the "batch" processing window and allow it to automatically convert each in turn on its own.

Why can't I play VEVO videos with McTube Pro on my iPad?

Until recently VEVO music videos would play fine on my iPad and iPhone 5 with McTube Pro. I only noticed this week that they won't play anymore besides the ones I have already saved to the cache.
I get this error every time I try to access any VEVO video or channel.
"Playback Failed. You do not have permission to access the requested resource."
Since I have tried numerous times on two iOS devices and it doesn't work on either of them, I assume it's nothing to do with my devices specifically.
The videos work on the YouTube app and YouTube itself, just not McTube Pro. I wouldn't mind so much if only YouTube didn't have so many ads, some that can't even be skipped.

I checked the app store and saw that they have now removed the paying feature, so it's an entirely free app now. I'm also told I have never downloaded this app despite having it on all my devices, so I suspect it is being treated as a new app after those updates. That would explain why some people ended up paying twice at first.
I'm afraid that the issue won't ever be resolved now that they have stopped working on the "old" McTube Pro that, for many of us, still supports caching.
