Can see ATV on Mac but not XP

Hi I wonder if anyone could please help. I can see and have set up my ATV on my wireless network to sync with my Mac mini and its working with no problems. I would like to stream content from two PC's running XP that are on the network but no matter what I try I cant get the ATV to show up in iTunes. I have tried on 3 different PC's with no luck, I have tryed most of the suggestions that I could find from searching (firewall off, turn syncing on and off on ATV, reset ATV and router, reboot PC). I would be very grateful of any suggestions. Thanks in advance

When you set up for streaming content on XP computer did you request to connect to new itunes and receive a new password number. Once you receive this number Apple TV will show up briefly for you in the device list in itunes to enter the new password. Once you have entered this number Apple TV will disappear from the device list in itunes, but will appear in apple TV enabling you to stream content from your XP machine. Did you go through this procedure?

  • Can see song on mac but not at the spot placed on shuffle

    Hi,
My son's problem is he placed a song at a
certain place on his ipod shuffle. It can be seen
when it's mounted on our mac but it's not at that
    place when he's listening.
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Robert

I noticed that recently. I think it's a bug in iTunes (not sure when it started). I put a song (actually a podcast) first on the iPod's ordered list, as seen in iTunes. I see iTunes sync with the shuffle. When I play the shuffle in sequential play mode, it is not first. I used to do this often, so I know it worked before.
My work-around - After moving the song, click on the column header for Artist or Name (anything to change the sort order). Then, after iTunes syncs the change, click back on the left-most column header to change the sort order back to load order (the one where you can move songs around). When the iTunes updates the shuffle again, it seems to update the shuffle properly and that song will play in the correct order (on the iPod).
I wrote a bug report here,
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
so if it's the same thing I described, you may want to do the same thing, just so Apple has another report.

  • I can print from my Mac but not from my iPad.

I can print from my Mac but not from my iPad ,any ideas?

you can read here about airprint
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
if the printer don't support that then you need to find a printing app in app store
which will act the role as printer driver for the device to speak with the printer

  • Ipod nano, I can see it in windows but not itunes, Tried EVERYTHING!

    Please help.
Starting a few weeks ago my six month old ipod stopped being 'seen' by itunes. I can see it on explorer no problem. I have followed all the steps in the support pages, apart from re-installing windows.
However I have found it doesn't work on my main computer of either of my two laptops, which makes me thinks its an ipod problem NOT a computer/windows problem.
I have a shuffle which is working fine on itunes on the same computers.
The only thing I cannot do is restore the nano - because you need an itunes connection to do this.
    Can anyone help please?
Ipod Nano.   Windows XP   itunes 7.02.16

At least I'm not alone in this problem...
I'm in the same boat. My Nano did work with iTunes 7 for a while. The only glitch was that it couldn't update the iPod's software. Since it stopped appearing in iTunes a few weeks ago I've tried everything I can think of (except sending it away) to fix the problem (restart/reset, reinstall iTunes (6 & 7), check services, format comp., change drive letter, etc...). It won't appear in iTunes on other computers either. Further I've run the iPod diagnostics and everything gets a green light. Hardware, software, me? I haven't a clue as to what the problem is. Argh.
I like the music on my iPod but it would be nice if I could listen to something different! I'll have a chance to stop by the store it came from soon but in the mean time...does anybody out there have ideas?

  • IMac can see my Macbook Air but not my Macbook

Recently upgraded iMac and Macbook to 10.5.8, Macbook Air running 10.5.7
Both laptops connected to iMac via Netgear wireless router.
    All was fine until yesterday.
Now my iMac can't see the Macbook but can see the Macbook Air when I go to Finder/Network on the iMac.
Curiously, the Macbook and the Macbook Air can both see the iMac when I go to Finder/Network on the two laptops.
Have unplugged the wireless router from the mains for five mins to reboot it.
Can confirm that Security/Firewall on the Macbook is set to "Allow All Incoming Connections"
    Anyone any suggestions???

  • I can see songs in itunes but not in ipod

Hi everyone,i have this strange problem,i can see the songs in Itunes,i can see them in windows exporer,i can play the songs too,but the ipod shows that there is no songs in it,and in itunes and windows i have 905mb free space and ipod shows that is empty,What can i do,thank you

I have the same problem described by vickgeo1981.  Just downloaded itunes 11.3.1.2 on new PC with windows 7.  Accounts are now set up ok and itunes let me download my music and new podcasts to this pc.  itunes told me I had to upgrade ipod nano software so I did that to 1.0.3 PC.  itunes shows the ipod when connected.  settings are to sync all Music and all podcasts.  sync appears to work and itunes shows the ipad contains the songs, podcasts, and playlists.  After disconnecting ipod from pc it shows no music and no podcasts.  I have tried more than 1 usb port on my pc.  I have restarted my ipod.  I have restarted my pc.  I have again reloaded my ipod software.  No change in the result.  sync appears to work.  itunes shows the content on its window of the ipod but no content on the ipod itself.

  • Help: I can see playlist in cpu, but not on ipod

    Hi:
    1.  I have a bunch of playlists on my ipod touch (current iOS) but just recently developed a problem where I can see / listen to a specific playlist via my cpu but I can't see that specific playlist on my ipod touch (even though I can see / listen to all of the other playlists on my ipod touch).     Furthermore, when I hook up the ipod touch in my car, I can scroll to that playlist and listen to it as well.
    2.  Any solutions to this problem?
Thanks in advance for any advice.   Harry

Never mind...I think I just figured it out. I have a 300 GB hard drive with a volume label of "300GB" mapped as a network drive to E: on my laptop. I was just looking through other threads and I think my laptop is getting confused between the ipod and this network drive...I'll just map it to a different letter and see if that fixes it.

  • Time Machine can see my old backups, but not open them

I have been using Time Machine with a Time Capsule (1TB) since last June (on this machine) - quite a few backups in there.
Last night when I went to backup, first time in a few days, it said the machine had never been backed up and started the preparing the disk thing - I couldn't find a problem, everything looked fine on my time capsule - couldn't do anything else, so I let it run. This AM it had finished the backup (in fact several) and when I open Time Machine it shows me as having backups all the way to June '08 -- however, it cannot seem to open anything earlier than last nights -- if I try to scroll to them it greys out. If I try to directly click on one, I get an empty finder window that never seems to update (at least not for 5-10 min) and then I cannot get any response from anything, have to restart to get out.
There are two things that I can think of that could have caused this -- I updated to 10.5.6 since my last backup, and I backed up a second Mac to the same time capsule in the interim (that backup went fine and seems to be working, but very slow)
My console is not reporting any errors (for backup or for anything else). It would be nice to get back to my old files, it certainly seems to know they are there. Any thoughts?
    thanks

I'm having this same issue and would like to know what I might be able to do.
I started using TimeMachine so that I could wipe my internal HD and be able to restore the settings. Now that I've wiped the HD TimeMachine doesn't seem to be doing what I expected it to do or I don't know how to restore the files.
    Any help would be wonderful!

  • Can connect on one Mac but not other Mac, PC

I just moved and I had no problem connecting my Powerbook,iMac, and PC with my Airport Express in my last house. I have the same cable provider (Charter) and can connect my Powerbook in my new house. However, I have a iMac too with an Airport card and my girlfriend has a PC and both can't connect to the AE. They both see it but can't connect to the internet. I had no problem in my last house with any of the 3. Can anyone help? thanks

I don't mean to hijack, but I have very similar problems. My AE is flashing amber, but my 15"PB is online no problem. My roommates both have pcs, and neither can get internet from the AE, but they can connect and authenticate the WEP. When I choose to distribute using 192... (or the other number schemes) the internet stops for everyone, including my PB and the AE assigns an ip of 192.168.1.1 to itself (when working for PB:169:254:128:58). I am in San Diego, CA using Warner (I believe just a DHCP provider, no special instructions when they installed it 3 days ago)
Thanks for any help, and hope this helps chris too

Im trying to network my iMac G5 and my PC(Windows XP) over aa wireless network but I'm having problems.
    I enabled Windows File Sharing
I enabled folders to be shared on both Mac and PC

I was able to connect to the Mac from a PC no problem and copied some files from one to the other.
When I click Connect to Server from the Finder menu the computer sees the PC, but when I click to connect, it just takes a long time, then it says an error message about a broken alias.

  • Can see games in iTunes, but not in Summary-Games page

I had to reformat my hd. I copied all of the files I knew I needed to put back on that hd onto an external hd. I installed itunes onto the reformated hd and then copied all of the files from the "backup" on the external hd. All of my music, videos, and podcasts are fine and loaded onto my iPod. All of my games are visible in the Games section of iTunes, but the Summary Tab for games is blank. I'm running the most current version of iTunes and my iPod is recently updated. What's going on?????

  • I really wish my iPad had Flash. There are things I can watch on my Mac, but not on my iPad. Inconvenient.

Is the iPad ever going to allow Flash to be installed?

    Kilby,
Operating iPads in elementary schools, we've discovered a few ways around the 'no Flash' issue, and they're primarily cloud-based solutions:
Rover (a free app, on iTunes). Discovery Learning provides this app as a way for their client schools to access Discovery's libraries of flash-based interactive content. Works on other sites containing Flash as well.
Remote desktop apps: control to your Mac/PC from your iPad and view desired Flash content that way. I like 'SplashTop' (http://www.splashtop.com/remote) for its relatively easy configuration and good on-screen controls from the iPad.
More 'enterprise' solutions: Windows Remote Desktop -- try 'iTap Mobile RDP' app (iTunes) on your iPad to log into your Windows account at work. You get your full PC and all your files at your finger tips on your iPad.
Look for online subscriptions that offer HTML5 support (plays in Safari).
Then there's "OnLive Desktop", a cloud-based computing service (free or 'Plus') you can access via iPad. @Pogue recently wrote about it (NYTImes Feb 22, 2012: 'Windows on the iPad, and Speedy').
Stepping back a little, I think some of the iPad's popularity is due to how effective it is at slacking off. It's energy efficient, connected, and fun to use--while enjoying the computations of other 'real' computers. Still, it can be a pain in the @ when there's 'heavy lifting' to do.
