Can see my networked ibook but greyed out after trying to connect
When I try to connect to my networked ibook everthing looks normal at first - I can see it in the network window, after selecting it I choose connect, enter user name and password and click ok, I select the name of the volume to mount from the list and .... well, normally within moments I would make the connection, see the HD etc. Now, suddenly, nothing happens. If I try again, this time after pressing connect I see the volume to mount list as before but the choices are greyed out. Any ideas?

I have an MSI Router (RG54G3) and I'm experiencing some problems trying to connect to the Internet. My computer detects very well the signal from the router, I can ping the router or any other machines connected to it, but when I try to ping for instance, www.google.com, I get nothing!
I've already tried every kind of router configuration (with no security, with WEP encryption, etc.), and still I can´t connect to the Internet.
I already set off the windows firewall thinking that might be it... but no.

Is the router connected to the modem properly? The router should be connected to the modem via a lan cable from the modem to the WAN connector on the router. The computers connect via the lan ports or wirelessly.
Does your ISP only allow one computer to connect to the service? Try to connect that computer directly to the modem to see it can get onto the net. Make sure you are running a firewall, windows or another before you do so. But, before you connect to the modem, turn the power off of the modem for a minute, plug it back in, let it get settled and then connect to the computer or turn on the computer. If you can get on the net, then you know it's not a modem issue. If you can't, then contact your ISP. Be
Okay, presuming you can get on the net when the computer is directly connected to the modem, let's try to address the router. Don't connect the router to the modem yet. Directly, physically, connect to the router with a lan cable to the computer that could access the net directly through the modem. Configure your router to clone the MAC address of that computer. Consult the manual for information about doing this. Once you've cloned the MAC address and applied the change, close your browser. Turn off the router. Connect the router to the modem, turn on or plug in the router and let it do it's setup. Once all the lights have settled, try to access the net. -
I have been trying to setup Airpot Expresses (both old and new models) for a while now with the Airpot Utility 5.6.1 for Windows without any luck. I have tried this on multiple windows machines, factory reseted the devices if I needed to, but I have not had any success since this software arrived. I see the routers on the Airport Utility UI, I click on it then try to connect to set it up. At this point, it gets stuck with a long progress bar trying to connect to the device without any success. I also have a Macbook Pro, and this device & software has had no trouble setting up the routers. The problem is, we are shipping these small routers out to customers who use Windows machines and it is vital that the user can modify the settings using Airpot Utility. I am at a loss for what to do and if we can't find any solutions, we are going to move on to a different company for the routers we ship out.
Thanks a lot i followed the instructions for safe mode (i found out that i was pressing the C button after restarting) i did whats written there but the repair couldn't be performed so in addition i needed to re-formate the HD so i erased the volume and then repaired the disk--> quite disk utilities --> start the installation from the installation DVD.

My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with two Macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network and it's telling me I'm connected but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?
Thank you, I've tried the support tips (resetting the network, checking security settings, etc.) and rebooting the network devices several times to no avail. I've actually been working on this for several days (when I can afford to have the network down).
What I have to determine is what has changed in the setup...from when it WAS working just fine with all devices. -
I have Comcast Internet and have it connected to a Motorla Surfboard modem and have that running directly to a 2TB Time Capsule. The TC is serving as our time machine as well as our wireless router. We lost power in a storm a week ago and can no longer connect to my wireless network I can see the network and sign into it via password, but cannot connect with any device(iMac, MacBook, iPhones, iPod touches, air tv, etc.). ALL of these devices worked gat before the power went out. I reset both modem and TC and still can't connect. I can connect to the Internet through Ethernet cord directly from the modems dn have confirmation(per Comcast service) that the Internet is working and we have a good connection.
The TC is less than six months old so I'm not sure what is wrong. I have reset settings with TC to no avail. I have reset the TC SEVERAL times and have no idea what could be wrong and what is prohibiting me from connecting. Anyone that has ANY suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this, PLEASE HELP!!! I'm going crazy using iPad 3G and not being able to connect to our wifi. The power went out and when it returned the network name and password was lost. I can see the network in my connections and connect to it. How do I get it back to the orginal name and password? I have an HP laptop.
Chances are, there was a signficant power surge or voltage fluctuation just before the power went out. This type of thing can cause the AirPort Extreme to reset back to default settings.
If this occurs, your only option is re-configure the device again, just as you did originally.
In order to improve your chances this next time this happens, (especially if you live in an area where thunderstorms are severe), a good quality surge suppressor / voltage limiting power strip will really help, and may save you the entire device or a nearby computer next time something like this occurs. -
Wireless devices can see wireless network but not connect
Can anyone please assist? I have a WRT54GS v2. My wired computer accesses the Net fine and I can see MAC address, IP Address, DNS, subnet mask, default gateway in the linksys browser software. The devices can see the network with strong bars but cannot connect.

Go to Solution.It is possible that the router could have encountered some wireless interference, doughboy17. You may try adjusting the wireless channels of the router. Use channels 6, 3, 1 and 11. Have you tried checking if you still have the correct Wi-Fi password?
If you have the correct network settings, try requesting for the firmware file and perform an update. That might help in resolving this matter. Or, you may proceed on doing a factory reset and configure the router again.

Are you able to transfer anything else from your iTunes library and computer via the iTunes sync process such as a movie, TV show, podcast, audio or print book, apps, and photos from your computer?
What is selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. -
i can't do anything when i open it up - it's greyed out -- have tried everything i can think of -- says restoring last session but never comes on - just says not responding if i try to click on toolbar or anywhere
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

This is my first posting so sorry for the messy title... I didn't realise how it all worked here.
I have a shiny new imac, shiny new ipad and have all my media on a network hard drive - itunes works fine on the mac - no problems - photos visible in finder and photoshop - no problems, but when I come to sync the new ipad - several things may happen (I have tried many times now)
1) a long wait - whirly gig round spinner thing - then music visible on the ipad but greyed out and useless
2) no photos at all synced
3) no videos synced
4) info syncs ok
5) apps seem to have synced OK
It is not a data size issue as the same amount of data synced before the new kit from my old windows pc on to an iPod - I daren't try syncing the ipod as I need it for my next business trip.
I tried removing the ipod cache files for the photos - no difference - I tried restoring the ipad - no difference
Have I completely wasted a large amount of money?ps when syncing it jumps through steps 1 - 4 real fast, i seem to remeber iphone showing the number of tracks transferring and names, but i see nothing? then it sits on 5 saying "waiting for changes to be applied"

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

when I connect my apple tv to my access point upstair and connect my ipad to the same access point i cant see my apple tv when i open up the airplay menu on my ipad. but i can see the apple tv in the living room downstair which connect to the main router.
Below is some info i get about ports.
I tried to set DMZ on my main router to have full access to ported to access point upstair which is in the ip of 192.168.1.2 and the main router in the living room is the gateway router with the 192.168.1.1 ip.
I still cant see apple tv after i try the DMZ method.
