Can selections be preserved?

If I make a selection within a clip in the event browser, marking an in and out point where I want them in the clip, then I decide to look at another clip instead, when I go back to the previous clip my selection is not preserved and I have to start all over again.
This makes little sense to me, since I will often audition a variety of clips, setting in and out points where I want them and moving on to the next before settling on the clip I prefer. I'm not about to send every clip I audition to the timeline just to keep the selection I made in tact - that would get messy and cumbersome quickly.
Is there something I'm missing here, or does FCP X assume that if you leave a clip in the event browser to view another clip, any work you did on the previous clip should be discarded? And if so, why and to what advantage does this serve?

You just blew my mind. You can even make multiple favourites in a single clip and return to them afterward. Awesome!
The whole vernacular change from FCP 7 to X is what seems to be throwing me off a lot of the time here as I learn my way through this. Thanks for clarifying this one for me!

Let me explain:
In the clock app for ios 6.0.2 I am a little confused. It allows you to go into your music library, and create a ringtone using any songs you choose. However, I cannot find a way to remove a song from this list, just like I cannot delete one of the preset ringtones (which I'm not trying to do, but just as an example)

I believe you just are able to delete them from iTunes.

iPods (except for iPod touch) are not linked to any iTunes "account." They are associated with your iTunes library. The account in iTunes is your Apple ID, and that is used to buy and download content from the iTunes Store. It is not required to use an iPod.
The 1st (and 2nd) gen shuffle can only be used with one iTunes library at a time. When you connect it, iTunes should prompt you to start using it with your iTunes library, and warn that the shuffle's existing content will be erased. Have iTunes erase the shuffle, and it will be associated with your iTunes library going forward. You can then add content to your shuffle.
The need for the previous owner's Apple ID and password should only come up if you are trying to transfer existing content from the shuffle to your iTunes library, AND the previous owner had content purchased from the iTunes Store. Just cancel out of that step, if iTunes asks.

I can't see the URL for site I am on; instead I have search engines I can select, and type subject to search.

I have a 2009 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard.

I don't recall when this happened, or what I could have done to cause it. In the area at the top of the FF window, where the URL is displayed, I have two fields. A small one that is labelled "mozilla.com" with a drop-down menu to the right of it. If I click on the drop down I see a list of websites and their URLs. This may be places I have been, but definitly isn't the most recent sites I have visited. Then to the right of that, taking up more than half of the width of the page is a filed where I can type something to search. There is also a drop down menu at the left end of the field, where I can select what Search Engine I want to use. I can manage that list - add or delete search engines. I prefer to use the standard search window, and be able to see the URL of what ever page I am at. Help!!!

Try to place the mouse between the small location bar and the large search bar. The mouse pointer should change to a resize pointer that you can drag to the right by pressing the left mouse button to make the location bar wider.

In order to delete or add individual songs from and to your iPod, you'll need to enable 'manual mode' on the device. This will allow you to add and remove exactly the content you desire.

It won't recognize any hard drive I put in the machine, so might it be the sata cable?

Boot the Recvoery USB, use Disk Utility to select the internal drive makers namea and size on the left.
Now select erase and select the midde option and click erase, it will take a bit to complete but it's best for the drive.
Now select Partiton tab, click the big box and Options: GUID and then Format: OS X Extended journaled and click apply.
Quit and you should be able to install OS X now with your Apple ID and password.

In the importing operation Firefox detects Internet Explorer and Opera as installed browsers. When i select Internet Explorer cookies, history, favourites etc. are listed in a box where you can select the items you want to import in Firefox. When i select Opera no items are listed that can be imported. Any idea how this comes?

I think that what you are searching be in Tools >> Options >> Privacy >> On Firefox will: change to "Use custom settings for history" then Button Show Cookies will be allowed and you will see the cookies in your browser in the next window
If you uncheck "Accept cookies from sites", probably the sites that need cookies will alert you that you need active the storage cookies

"Can select all" option in Oracle BI Publisher

I created a parameter in my report in Oracle BI Publisher and I selected "Multiple selection" and "Can select all" for this parameter.
My data model is a sql query where I use this parameter in the "IN" condition like:
where customer_name in (:customer)
When I select in the prompt one or two or more values to "customer_name", results are correct. But when I select "All" I don't obtain results.
I noted when I select "All" is passed the "NULL" value. I don't have "All values passed" and "NULL value passed" checkboxes.
My Oracle BI Publisher version is 10.1.3.2.
Can someone help me?

You can give range values in the Query designer.
You can include variable selection where user can enter the selections with their own selections.

You can sync multiple I tunes account from the same mac. You will need to authorize the account on the mac. Then you can share tunes and books across devices. just take you time when you connect and make sure you are setting up the sync criteria for the right device.
If you share apps, the originating itunes account goes with the app, so updating can get problematic, but it is pretty seamless with tunes and books.
You can also sync photos from the same master i photo system.
On each devise, you identify what you want to sync, and I tunes will remember them as seperate entries, so the next time you plug it, it will be starting from what you selected last time.

An incorrect email address I put in the BCC field has repeated itself infinitely and blocked outgoing messages. I can select but not delete the long list from the Warning. What can I do?

I put an incorrect email address in the BCC field of an email. A 'Warning' dropped down where the address was repeated until it fell off the bottom of the screen. No closure button at the top so I can't close it. I can select all the repeat addresses but can't delete them. I can't shut down or restart the computer because Mail can't close. Any ideas, please?

Aha! Pressed escape button and managed finally to close the Warning. Phew! I could then erase several hundred repeats of the mistaken address from the BCC field. Sorry to bother you all. Hellen.
