Can set up DSL with PC but not Mac
Hi,
Moving into a new apartment, I have a DSL account all ready to go. I never set one up before so am not familiar at all with how to do it. I tried first on the Mac and failed to get a connection. With the PC, I followed the Network Wizard and am able to connect online.
I retried the Mac and still can not get any success. Here is what I do. I went to system preferences/network. There clicked assist me and followed all instructions. When I had entered in my name and password, an unable to establish network connection error appeared. Clicking on diagnose button, I followed all the directions and selected PPPoE. After clicking continue, a connection message appears but then hangs. I then am told that network diagnostics cannot fix the current problem.
I then go back to my windows computer and plug right in and am immediately connected.
Can anyone understand why I cannot get my Mac up and running but my PC works just fine? I am too new at this to see what is wrong.

Ack! I was hoping that this was advice I would not get! You see, I am in China (and do not speak Chinese), so talking to someone here will be much harder than back when I was in the states.
Still, I may have to go that route to truly end this problem. I just do not understand why a PC can be hooked up in seconds and a Mac cannot? I turned off the DSL modem to try to start from square one with the Mac.
Another question: I have never had a wireless set up in my house before. Would going wireless fix this problem? Surely my Mac could connect to any wireless set up that was set up by this DSL modem.
Any thoughts on this and recommendations on how to get started?

Setting margins works with ExportToDisk, but not with ExportToStream...
I'm filling out a report with SetParameterValue, and not with database, and setting the margins with:

After that when i call ExportToDisk to write as pdf, the margins that i setted are there, but when i use ExportToStream like that:

And call stream.ToArray() as return in FileResult, the pdf that shows up on browser is without the margins that i setted. Why can't you simply export to Disk and then stream that file?
I need performance, and if i need to write a pdf with 10mb, and after read it, and next return (with asp.net mvc 3) to browser like a FileResult, i 'll lose performance.
What is the right way to change the margins and return it like a byte array without losing the margins that i setted? -
I can format new hdd with FAT but not for OSX
I have a Hitahchi travelstar 5K1000 in a cradle on USB on MBP 2008 with mavericks. It will format Mac OS journaled but will not allow install of Mavericks, reporting an unfixable error. Verify Disk & Repair Disk show errors that cannot be fixed, and suggest erase. Which is where I started. The disk accepts FAT format without problem.
The same result occurs with the disk installed IN 2011 MBP, or as USB ext HDD on the same. Diskutil on terminal, and Disk Utility, run from host MBP- from ext HDD with Mavericks intalled and from internet recovery. Also tried in target disk mode. Always the same. These machines successfully format the old HDD.
Problem is - this is the second disk tried - the first was seagate momentus 1TB. I was convinced the problem was the disk and returned it. Bought the Hitachi from a different supplier and have the same problem.
So I have tried 2 different disks, connected in 2 ways to two diferent MBPs, and several different methods. The only things in common are the OS and the disk size. Am I missing something here?
The original HDD (seagate momentus 500GB) has an intermittent harware failure. I can reformat and install mavericks, but it will soon die. The new disk was simply meant as a replacement for this.TFS and OS X will not write to an NTFS formatted drive. So the first thing you must do is reformat the drive to FAT. Then do the following:
1. Re-select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
2. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
3. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
5. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size. -
Screensharing works only one way since we moved from iChat to iMessage bêta. Before that we have never had any problem with screen sharing. We haven't changed anything else, just installed iMessage. What I need to do is share her screen, and the only thing I can do is share my screen...

On the whole I am finding it very stable. (it presents the same quirks in the same manner each time)
It has some things that are more Feature requests than "Bugs" per se about the way it works that I would like to change.
It can also be difficult to tell exactly what is going on whenyou are hearing about it third hand.

Can connect to wireless on Windows but not Mac OS?
I can connect to my wireless network on my newly boot camped Windows XP. However, now I cannot connect to it on my Mac OS X. I have 10.6.8. I can see my wireless network, it doesn't have a password and everytime I try to connect it attempts but then says the connection timed out. Help?
You need to check the setting for the "Automatic" location. Try this:
System Preferences > Network
Select the AirPort from the left hand side
Click on the Locations combo box and select "Automatic"
Click on Advanced
Select the AirPort tab and enter your network name. Delete all other named networks
Select TCP/IP tab.
Configure IPv4 Using DHCP
Now click on Renew DHCP Lease. After a few seconds you should get an IP address (probably 192.168.x.x)
Click on Proxies tab.
Select Auto Proxy Discovery and Use Passive FTP
Click on OK and Apply, etc.

IMessage only can send text with photo but not text only
How come my iMessage can only sent text with photo but not text only. While entered text the send button is blue and gray.the button could become blue and white when only photo was being inserted. My iPad 2 iOS version 5.0.1.

Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.

I set up my iCloud account on iPad with an exchange account and aol account. I can see exchange and aol emails but not those from .me account or apple email. I got it to show all 3 accounts on my iPhone with no problem. Hat am I missing?
I'm having a similar problem, but I do have the key and is not working anyway.
My old pc was running on windows 7 and my new one is an apple running on Lion.
My phone is an Iphone IV and I can see all the bookmarks there.
In order to sync, what I did was click on the "I don't have the device with me", I entered the key that was provided and the process finish ok. It says congratulations, etc, etc.
But the bookmarks are not there, I tried merging data and replacing data on this computer options but is the same.
Any suggestions? -
I have a ton of documents and databases in AppleWorks v 6.0 that I can no longer open on my MacBook Pro. Is there any way to recover this info? Some documents can be opened and resaved with textedit, but not my database with all important addresses.
I tried Peggy's List > Select All > Copy > Paste into an AW spreadsheet suggestion.
In my case, pasting into the spreadsheet lost all text formatting (mostly text set to bold). The results of formulas were pasted, and checkboxes were pasted as "on" or "off". The DB did not contain any pop-up menus or radio buttons, but I expect they would transfer as a number showing the list position of the chosen item.
Pasting the copied List view data into a Numbers table gave a result similar to that with AppleWorks. I selected B2 as the target cell (for top left cell of the pasted data) to avoid any effects of posting into a header row or column. Bold and regular text formatting looked the same as it had in AW's List view.
Based on that, I'd slip the 'paste into an AppleWorks Spreadsheet step, and paste directly into a Numbers Table.

The AirPorts, unlike routers provided by other manufacturers, do not provide a web-based administration interface ... so the PS3 or any browser would not work.

how do I set up my Imac to allow using both my computer speakers and a Bose SoundLink system as outputs at the same time. I can use one or the other, but not both. From systems Preferences I must select one or the other. I want both to work all the time.

I would recommend you to use 0FI_AP_4 rather using both, particularly for many reasons -
1. DS: 0FI_AP_4 replaces DataSource 0FI_AP_3 and still uses the same extraction structure. For more details refer to the OSS note 410797.
2. You can run the 0FI_AP_4 independent of any other FI datasources like 0FI_AR_4 and 0FI_GL_4 or even 0FI_GL_14. For more details refer to the OSS note: 551044.
3. Map the 0FI_AP_4 to DSO: 0FIAP_O03 (or create a Z one as per your requirement).
4. Load the same to a InfoCube (0FIAP_C03).

iPhoto frustrating error..The volume for "Df23.JPG" cannot be found. It prompts for all photos with this issue rather than offering an option to ignore. I can find the images in spotlight but not in Find Photo. Does anyone have a solution?
Unless you have the source files that were on the TC or Windows machine you will have to start over with a new library as follows:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
2. Open the library package like this.

3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
4. Drag the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.

This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects. Your original library will remain intact for further attempts at fixes is so desired.

Yes. get a computer with iTune 10.5 and:
- Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other stuff using a third-party program like one of those discussed here. Most are good for music. It is harder to find one for other stuff like synced photos.

- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up
- Restore the iPod from backup and sync as neccessary. -
I have an Ipad mini with IOS7. A few days ago I began to have problems with wifi connectivity. I can connect to wifi with Google but cannot navigate in Safari nor any of my aps are able to acess wifi. Very strange. Not sure what to do!

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You may have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
