Can Slides from Captivate 4 be pasted into Captivate 3?

I had never used Captivate but I downloaded the Captivate 4 demo and was able to create a training (this software is sweet). Anyhow, my company has Captivate 3 and I do not have this on my machine so instead of re-creating this training in Captivate 3, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if they are able to successfully copy slides from Captivate 4 to Captivate 3. ( I have already read that Captivate is not backward compatible and noticed there is no option in Captivate 4 to save this as a Captivate 3 file). Thanks for you help.

Hi there
You should be able to have version 4 as well as 3 on the same PC. Then copy slides from 4 and paste into 3.
Of course, you cannot expect any features specific to 4 to work in 3.

You do it sort of like the way you arrange your apps on the iPad and how you drag apps into groups. You do the same technic with your Keynote slides.

Can't copy text or images from webpages and paste into word documents or notepad

Today suddenly I cannot copy text or images from webpages (I tried many different ones) and paste into my word 2010 document or notepad. What can I do to get this ability back. Yesterday it worked fine. It does not appear to be a problem with word or notepad so I have to assume it is a problem with Firefox

Ok, it's quite absurd that there's no other workaround for now. I always used Adobe for webdesign, but I think it's time now to go and use some different applications, like Sketch and Macaw. I'm really curious about the last one.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I'm afraid it hasn't helped. I don't see anything wrong in my device manager.
I have also gone and updated every driver, especially the motherboard chipset and the Sata Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver.
Unfortunately, this hasn't made any difference.
Any other suggestions?

Hi learning_still and welcome to our community
Unfortunately it's not possible to do this. The best you can
do would be to open each version of Captivate. In version 3, open
the project you wish to "convert" to version 1. Note the dimensions
of the project.
In version 1, create a new blank project of the same
dimensions.
Now from version 3, copy the first slide. Paste into version
1. Rinse and repeat until each slide has been copied and pasted. I
haven't tried this, but you may be able to select *all* slides and
paste. That would save some time.
Note that any items that version 1 doesn't support won't be
copied, including question slides.

Importing Captivate CS3 project into Captivate CS5.5

Our company has a number old projects that were created and saved in Adobe Captivate CS3. We need up update the material using Captivate CS5.5; however, they will not open in this version. We believe it may be due to older Flash files and the drop in support of AS2 files. We can open these projects in Captivate CS4, then CS5.5, but this is not a long term solution for us. Is there a converter or some other option available??? Thank you very much.

Apart from opening Captivate files with other Captivate versions has you have already done, there is no other solution for upgrading your projects.
Bite the bullet and do this immediately to get your projects into CPTX format files. Cp7 or later versions will not open .cp format files. Only CPTX. So since you appear to currently have Cp versions that will open your old Cp3 files, you are best advised to do this right away. Otherwise your next upgrade to Cp7 or Cp8 later this year could see you tossing all courses built in the older Cp format.

Way to copy text only from Adobe and paste into Apple Pages?

I tried upgrading to Adobe ExportPDF and exporting to Word in hope that it would translated OK to Apple Pages. It did not, but I don't think it was because it had problems converting from Word to Pages. My guess is that it's because most of the text was wrapped around images. I know this because on the text that was NOT wrapped around image, I was able to paste it, though it was not a smooth convert in the sense that some fonts were substituted, certain characters were smooshed together and the spacing was uneven. That part was a conversion issue; however it is still more preferable than having to retype all the text.
Unless I can come up with another alternative this is what I will be forced to do on many, many PDF's that I need to convert (or successfully paste) into text-only documents.
It's weird because back in the day, I recall being able to simply highlight text that I wanted in a PDF document and then paste that text into a Pages document. Then it all changed and Adobe doesn't seem to allow you be able to do that.
Can anyone come up with a workaround for this problem? I don't have hours upon hours to convert all my PDF writing work into text only docs (to put on my online portfolio to make it easier for clients, etc., to read).
Any help with this problem would be most appreciated.

Can I have a button pasted into MSO trigger a different MSO?

I have a button pasted into a MSO, How can I have it trigger a "go to state" function to a completely different MSO?
As of right now, it only allows me to select the current MSO it is pasted into.

You can't jump to an MSO from a button that's part of a different MSO. This is an InDesign limitation.

How do I copy image from web and paste into Open Office Document

Whenever I choose Copy Image from Safari and then paste into open office, I only get the image url and not the image. I am sure that I am not selecting Copy Image Address.
When I copy images from my iTunes album artwork and paste into open office it works fine.
Any thoughts?

I have done the same thing using Firefox and it works just fine. It seems to be an issue with Safari.

Streaming from Flash Media Server into Captivate

We're fortunate to have a Flash Media Server (4) which we use to distribute video over our local network using Flash CS5 and have encountered no problems. However, when I try to use it for Captivate 5 files I've had no success (same with 4 incidentally). I've tried just about every string I can think of with no ext., with the ext, f4v's, flv's, /mp4:, different folders/ no folders (vod) etc etc. There must be something fundamentally wrong with what I'm doing but for the life of me I can't think what. The Media server currently delivers video over our Intranet and we also use it for Adobe Connect. Any help in this matter will be appreciated.
My string is rtmp://breezefms2/vod/<nameofvideo> (no ext.)

Applescript to copy cells from excel and paste into numbers

Hi  community! I find myself needing your assistance once again. I'm new to applescript and it's my first scripting language. I'm trying to create a script that will copy a block of cells in an excel spreadsheet with multiple sheets and paste that info (preferably with a keystroke) into a numbers template. I've written a successful script to activate Excel, go to the sheet with the info, copy it, then open a Numbers template from My Templates. The problem I can't solve on my own is how to select the right cell on the right table on the right sheet and Paste and Match Style.
Some helpful info:
-I've changed my [Command+V] keystroke in Numbers to "Paste and Match Style" because this is a very common action for me
-The Numbers template is pretty big, but does open on the correct sheet for the paste
Here's what I have so far: (sorry for the center justification, but it wasn't displaying correctly)

Copy from Acrobat CS4, Pastes into Photoshop as just a black box...

It only happens on maybe 50% of the PDFs that I work with. These are files I get from my clients (newspapers). When I select something from a page of the newspaper pdf, it seems to copy fine. Then I open up Photoshop, create a new document, and paste the image into it -- but instead of getting the images in my Photoshop document, I just get a big black block...
Any thoughts?

Alright... I was able to (somehow) get the problem reduced to only happening when I use the cursor, click on the photo, and right-click copy. However, I need to do that A LOT.
I believe Acrobat is copying the image out as a bitmap, and that's the source of the problem. Any way I can set the prefs to make all images copy out as jpegs???

16x9 Material from Old Sequence Pasted Into New Sequence Is Letterboxed

I'm trying to paste a series of edited (and some nested) clips from a 1440x1080 23.98fps sequence into a new blank sequence with the same settings. But the canvas is now a 4x3 image, the material is letterboxed and a few non-nested scenes are squeezed or out of sync. What am I doing wrong?

Anamorphic does not help. The sequence is a mix of clips. Apparently the ones I have nested are fine. The ones I did not are squeezed. So it's a mixed bag. I may use a workaround where I dupe the original sequence and delete everything but what I need. That way no change.

Illustrator CS 6 won't paste into a text box/paragraph of text, instead pastes a new line of text in the upper left corner of my document. How can I get it to paste into the selected paragraph or highlighted text like normal?

I've done it a million times, I copy a selection of type...I select the type that I want to replace it with, and then I paste. Now, Illustrator will only paste the text as a "point text" (a single line) somewhere else on the artboard—it seems to always be the upper left corner of the art board.

In cases of sudden appearance of strangenesses, the list may be relevant, hopefully the easy part at the top.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.
