I have installed two virtual machines(win2k3 32bit and win2k3 64bit ) on Windows Server 2008 RC1 With Hyper-V Technologies (Beta) enterprise. Mouse is getting lost inside VM (using CTRL+ ATL + LEFT ARROW comes mouse control control in host OS).
Is there any setting to make mouse works? Insert Integration Serice setup Disk operation succeeds.all credits for mike_something
The problem is that the old mousedriver is hooked to the mouse device class.
To remove this dependency, go into the registry and navigate to the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Remove the value msvmmouf from the UpperFilters Regvalue.
Reboot....
tadaaa!!
If you wish you can take out the drivers completely by deleting these registry hives completely :
The driver:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\msvmmouf
The Service:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\VPCMap
The CopyHook Shell Extension: ( for folder access )

After a reboot you can delete the "Virtual Machine Additions" folder from program files...

PXE works on Virtual Machines by errors on physical
2012R2. Only 1 box for all roles. PXE has been working fine (both Virtial and Physical). 3 weeks ago all PXE stopped working. I was called in to look things over. Errors showed that the MP was having issues, so I uninstalled
the role and reinstalled. Now only Virtual machines will PXE....physicals throw the following error:
Support for Unknown computers is selected. I've tried both known and right out of the box computers with the same results.
Ideas?
-SuperDaleNo difference in hardware...the sccm box is virtual. about 3 weeks ago customer says PXE stopped working. I got in and saw that the MP was corrupt, removed the role, reinstalled, now just virtual machine will PXE, but physical machine give
me the above error. The physical machines are from a batch of 15...they deployed the first ten before having the PXE issue...now we can't get any (including machines that we've PXE'd in the past too).

Can't create a Virtual Machine on new host - Error (2915)
This error is appearing when a Virtual Machine is created from scratch, or from a template. I've tried all of the recommendations I can find. All updates are in place, VMM reports agents are current, server is "OK". VMM Agent is running. Rebooted

IP Virtualization not working in Virtual Machine on Hyper-V
Hello everyone. Have such issue. We are using cisco agent desktop for our users. For working in Terminal server environment it needs dedicated IP for each program session. Currently we'are using hardware server with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with RDS.
We've added IPpool in registry for Virtualisation per program. It works fine. Now i'm trying to create a virtual machine with WS 2012 R2 with the same configuration(Hyper-V 2012 R2). The problem is it doesn't work. When creating new session or launching new
program i get APIPA address or get nothing at all. Will it work or still this functionality doesn't work?have you setup the IP virtualization GPOs in the new environment?
computer configuration > administrative templates > windows components > remote desktop services > remote desktop session host > application compatibility
I'm not sure what regkeys you have implemented but you may want to see if they still apply to 2012 R2, you might have to remove them -

'file:/OVS/running_pool/OVM_EL4U5_X86_HVM_10GB/oracle10g_x86.img,hda,w',
',hdc:cdrom,r'......
to
disk = ['file:/OVS/running_pool/OVM_EL4U5_X86_HVM_10GB/system.img,hda,w',
'file:/OVS/running_pool/OVM_EL4U5_X86_HVM_10GB/oracle10g_x86.img,hba,w',
',hdc:cdrom,r' .......
this way you mount you system image root volume as a device [hda]
and your oracle10g image as a device [hdb]

Hence, I attempted to follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bridge_with_netctl to set up my network bridge and try again, and I'd still get the same error.
I also tried to do sudo virt-manager but I'd get:

Help Requested - Creating Solaris 10 x64 Virtual Machine on an ESX Server
Hi All,
I have been trying to create a Solaris 10 64 bit Virtual Machine on ESX and VMWare server Virtualization Platform.
One of the forum entries said - The installer doesn't really care. At every boot, the processor type will be determined and a 32-bit or a 64-bit kernel will be run (unless you override it)
I hence downloaded the iso from http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/get.jsp and I installed it. When I run uname -a command on the terminal, this is what is displayed -
SunOS unknown 5.10 Generic_127128-11 i86pc i386 i86pc
This indicates that the kernel is 32 bit right?
Please help me create the 64 bit VM.
Thanks in Advance,

I think it is possibly not mounting the nfs share. I

Why my application can't can run with ojvm virtual machine
in my application ,i select the ojvm virtual machine in run configuration,but only the following returned:
1.Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
2.Process exited.
Debugger connection to debuggee process has been lost.
Debugger disconnected from local process.
when i change ojvm to server or anthing else ,there is not that problem any more.
why?I have had this problem for months with no resolution from Oracle. Another similar machine works fine with OJVM. Go figure. Doesn't seem to be something Oracle is interested in resolving, but appears to be occurring on a variety of systems.

Expanding root partition in Solaris 10 VirtualBox virtual machine
I am running a Solaris 10 u8 x86 64-bit guest as a VirtualBox VM on a WinXP x64 host. I was running out of space in the guest VM, so I used CloneVDI (http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22422) to clone and expand the VM from 20GB to 30GB. Now I need to expand the / partition in the VM filesystem so that it sees the whole 30GB now available. What is the best way to do this within the Sol10 guest? Is there a way to simply add a new "extent" to the existing filesystem?
Thank you in advance...sparcmaster wrote:
The virtual disk is now expandable to 40GB.Do you mean you've already expanded it?
prtvtoc /dev/dsk/c0d0s0* /dev/dsk/c0d0s0 partition map
* Dimensions:
* 512 bytes/sector
* 63 sectors/track
* 255 tracks/cylinder
* 16065 sectors/cylinder
* 2717 cylinders
* 2715 accessible cylinders*And here's the problem. The OS didn't care. This VTOC shows only ~20GB
16065 x 2717 / 2 / 1024 / 1024 => 20.81
The only way to change this is to blow it away and recreate it and hope your data survives. If you do it right it should, but you need to be prepared for it to not work.
You'd boot from alternate media (CD/DVD/network), then use 'fdisk' on the root drive. It'll have a 20GB Solaris partition on it. Destroy it and create a new one that is full size (40G).
Now run 'prtvtoc' on the drive again. If the number of sectors per cylinder is the same (just the number of cylinders increased), then you should be okay and able to continue. If the size of a cylinder changed, then your data will probably not be accessible.
Now take your original 'prtvtoc' output file and remove the line with slice 2 in it
* First Sector Last
* Partition Tag Flags Sector Count Sector Mount Directory
0 2 00 6345675 37270800 43616474 /

2 5 00 0 43616475 43616474 <=== Remove this line
8 1 01 0 16065 16064
9 9 01 16065 32130 48194Use 'fmthard' to reapply the slices.
# fmthard -s <vtocfile> /dev/rdsk/c0d0s2Check the disk and all the slices should be back.
Verify root filesystem is still present and okay
# fsck -n /dev/rdsk/c0d0s0If all that is done, then you're really close. Since the root slice is at the end of the disk, increasing the size is simple. Just go into 'format -> partition' and edit slice 0. Keep the start cylinder the same, but change the number of cylinders to use the rest of the disk. When done type 'label' and exit format. If done correctly you can now run 'growfs /dev/rdsk/c0d0s0' to increase the size. Reboot and everything should come up.
The worst part is that when you increase the Solaris partition, I don't believe there's a guarantee that the cylinder size won't change. When I've attempted this, I haven't had any problems, but I've always been ready if it didn't work. When it works, it does save time.
Good luck!

Hi all,
I installed Solaris 10 on VM (VMWare).
For installing some application I need to partition disk like shown below (I added SCSI disk, 12 GB from VM settings):
DISKS:c2t0d0(12000)
SLICE:root:/:1024:-:-:-:c2t0d0s0:-
SLICE:swap:swap:512:-:-:-:c2t0d0s1:-
SLICE:var:/var:1200:-:-:-:c2t0d0s3:-
SLICE:opt:/opt:2048:-:-:-:c2t0d0s4:-
SLICE:log:/log:512:-:-:-:c2t0d0s5:-
SLICE:sybase_data_dev:/sybase_data_dev:4096:-:-:-:c2t0d0s6:-
SLICE:back:back:1024:-:-:-:c2t0d0s7:-
My first question is how to make those slices. I tried with format -> partition (following http://fengnet.com/book/Solaris_admin/ch01lev1sec15.html) and I can create root,swap and var but cannot proceed further (got message: opt is not expected).
Is there any way to make this with format or it can be done at another way?
Next step would be to install bootblock to c2t0dos0 (I tried with instalboot and got message: Installboot is obsolete. Use installgrub(1M) ).
There is a webpage with instructions regarding bootblock -> http://sun.drydog.com/faq/7.html
... but it does not work for me :-(
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Best regards,
DomagojI storgly doubt, VMware player is available for Solaris 10 SPARC version.
Solaris 10 is not a comercial product, like ubuntu, windows, MAC etc... It's really for a server.
That's the reason still I hate Solaris 11 as a desktop. You have very limited product/software.... This may change for Solaris 11, but U can't expect one for Solaris 10. -
Can Solaris work with FAT32 or Linux Ext2?
I need to work with files on FAT32 disk from Solaris. Can I do it somehow???
I don't know the answer to Linux versions, but will say that you want to make sure that any LabVIEW add-ons/toolkits are available for the target you want, be it LinuX, MacOS, or whatever. There are a lot of features in "native" LabVIEW for the Windows environment that aren't available for the other OS platforms.

Will separate devicenet and CAN cards work in one machine?
I have an application that must talk to CAN and DeviceNet at the same time. NI's documentation says that DNET must be removed to run NI-CAN and vice versa. Will they play together if two cards are installed?
Currently, NI-CAN and NI-DNET cannot be installed on the same machine at the same time, regardless of the number of cards that are installed in the machine.
However, with some work, it is theoretically possible to install only NI-CAN, implement the CAN interface as normal, then, since the DNET protocol is built on CAN, use NI-CAN to implement DeviceNet functionality on another card.

How do you get the two step security to work with virtual machines running under parallels?
I use Quickbooks running on a virtual PC under Parallels. I have always have Quickbooks interface with Thunderbird on the PC side to email invoices to customers using my apple email account.
Once I switched to two-step verification security, Apple doesn't recognize the "new" computer trying to access my mail account, but it also doesn't send any kind of code to a second device to authorize the access.
For now, I've had to switch back to the traditional security and the above process immediately works again 9without asking me any security questions).
Is there a way to have Apple recognize the virtual PC (or any other non-Mac computer) with two-step verification security?You have to go to your Apple ID and generate application specific passwords.

Can Vista work on XP machine with win7 drivers?
Hp Compaq dx2000 MT business desktop, came with XP Pro, owner wants to run Vista, looking online I am seeing windows7 drivers for this unit here on HP's site:
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=401821&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4051
I know normally you can use vista drivers to load win7 but this is the opposite, would this work problem free please?
This question was solved.
View Solution.Have you updated Vista to SP2 yet and then update the IE browser to IE9?
You may want to do that first if you have not done so already.
I don't know how to troubleshoot those kind of issues.
You may want to start a new thread asking for help with getting the flash player to work correctly if you are already at that stage.
