Can some recommend a good tutorials on how to use timers

I would love a good tutorial on counters to know how they work I am practising using my USB DAQPad-6015, but will implement the solution and would like to get a better understanding before I start

Hi
I find the following diagram really good for explaining counters:
Count Register
The count register stores the current count of the counter.  The count register can be queried with software.
Source
The source is an input signal that can change the current count stored in the count register.  The counter looks for either rising or falling edges on the source signal.  Whether a rising or falling edge changes the count is software selectable.  The type of edge (rising or falling) that is selected is referred to as the active edge of the signal.  When an active edge is received on the source signal the count will change.  Whether an active edge increments or decrements the current count is also software selectable.
Gate
The gate is an input signal that decides if an active edge on the source will change the count.  Counting can occur when the gate is high, low, or between various combinations of rising and falling edges.  Gate settings are made in software.  The gate is similar to a line mask in digital I/O, because it allows you to either acknowledge or ignore active edges on the source.
Out
The out is an output signal used to generate pulses or a series of pulses often referred to as a pulse train.  The output signal is TTL compatible.
The Source and Gate signals can be input on any of the PFI lines but there are default pins assigned which are specified in the DAQ assistant when you set up a counter task, you can also find that information on the pinout for the device.
The source and gate can be used in different configurations for multiple applications. I need to have a look at your code but from my initial glance it looks like it's setting up a retriggerable pulse train.
I'll find some more resources and post back with an explanation of how that type of counter application works.

  • Can anyone recommend a good tutorial on how to use pre-designed website templates in Dreamweaver? Thks

I am fairly new to Dreamweaver (cs6), having previously designed and maintained a few sites using Freeway. I purchased a template from TemplateMonster.com in the hope that this would simplify the creation of a new site. The template came without any instructions other than how to unzip the file. Their helpline really isn't helpful at all. Can anyone recommend an online tutorial on how to use a predesigned template? Lynda.com doesn't have one. Thanks!

    I found this page :
    http://www.templatemonster.com/dreamweaver-templates.php
Followed a link. Ended up here :

Did a search. Found this :

  • Can Anyone Recommend Any Good Tutorials For A Beginner?

    Hi,
I just purchased Pro Logic 9 and was wondering if anyone knows of any good lessons/tutorials to help a first time user of the Pro Logic series. Im excited to get into this program and record but it is so powerful that it is a bit overwhelming. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    I agree with JG99.
    +1 macprovideo
I've seen both the lynda and macprovideo logic training. Don't get me wrong the Logic training at lynda is ok for the basics. The macprovideo ones are excellent and go much further. So I could learn in depth how all the instruments, like the EXS24 sampler, Ultrabeat drum machine, synths and plugins work and how to use them. There are proper whole tutorials dedicated to mixing and mastering. For me and my studio buddies macprovideo for final cut, logic and now the photoshop titles has saved us countless hours and a lot of hair!

The macprovideo iPad and iPhone apps rock too!

  • Are there any good tutorials on how to do digital paintings?

I have some drawings of mine that I wanted to turn into digital paintings. I can't find any good tutorials on YouTube. This is an example of something I would like to learn:

    These are my favourite
    http://www.ctrlpaint.com/
Digital Tutors has some good stuff
    http://www.digitaltutors.com/11/index.php?gclid=CNaF38q14MMCFQpwvAodMJwAbg
But you need to register an account for both of them.  Lots of titles out there if you look though.
The Bert Monroy titles on Lynda.com are also very good, but a slightly different style.  More illustration that digital painting.  Take a look at his huge Times Square graphic to see what he does.  Zoom way way in to see the incredibly detail
    Times Square
Loads of of tips and tricks in Steve Caplin's 'How to Cheat in Photoshop', and even better '100% Photoshop'.
Good luck and have fun.  By far the most enjoyable way to use Photoshop in my opinion.

  • Can anyone recommend a good instruction book for intermediate Mac users?

I have been using Mac for 3 years now so am not a total beginner, but still need help in many areas of OS X use. These forums are brilliant and thanks to the willing help from more expert members I have learnt a lot ( thank you), however there are times when just having a book open in front of you is the easiest way to get to grips with something. Can anyone recommend a good user manual for people like me who don't need a real beginners guide but also don't want a mind numbing, in depth, advanced text. I already have Maria Langers Visual Quickstart Guide which is useful but is exactly what it says, a quick start, and David Pogues Missing Manual which I find a little frustrating as he seems to fall short of explaining exactly how to do something after he says it can be done!
I guess what I am really after is a clearly written book that is good for beginners and more advanced users alike, with screen shots to show you what you should be doing.
    Grateful for any suggestions.
macbook white 2ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   512mb ram and 60gig hard drive,

    Hi again,
Many thanks for the feedback and the star!
For troubleshooting, Dr Smoke's Troubleshooting Mac OS X eBook is invaluable. Again, I have the Panther edition. I haven't, yet, felt the need for the Tiger edition with so many of the tips available free via his FAQs.
The only drawback, of course, is that when one is in a fix and possibly unable to boot up, the e-book isn't accessible unless one has a copy on another Mac.
    Have fun,
    Adrian

  • Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript for flash?

Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript
    for flash?
    Intermediate level
I have been using flash for about 2 years more as a hobby
than anything else, some websites etc but now I realise I am going
to need to learn more actionscripting to do what I want, I have
come to terms with the simple stuff like goto – basic
variables – load mov – enough to programme up website
    navigation.
I ideally want to learn more about the dynamic side of flash,
mostly for designing user interfaces and websites etc
I’m after a book that doesn’t get too heavy too
fast yet I’m a little past the more basic functions
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers

  • Can anyone recommend a good Mac Calendar, Contact program for the iPhone

Can anyone recommend a good Mac Calendar, Contact program for the iPhone. The one intalled is hopelessly inadequate and inefficient. 2 Main problems- The current iCal + Contacts programs do not link to each other. And there is no To Do List!
Palm and MS Outlook had those features 6 years ago! Whats up with Apple?!!

ical does have a to do list in it. either click the little pin under the calendar, or click show to do list in the view menu.
i don't know much purpose behind needing to link ical and address book (not that i'm saying it isn't important at all - you obviously have some type of need for it). but it's got to be possible somehow, because you can set ical to make a calendar of birthdays from your address book contacts (in the main preference pane for the application).
plus, i doubt there'd be another mac calendar application you'd be able to sync with your iphone, unless whoever developed it developed an iphone app to sync it with. probably wouldn't sync with your contacts/calendar apps that come with the iphone.

can anyone recommend a good 2TB external drive for my iMac 10.9 ?

The Griffin Survivor is a military-grade case that I use. It's $40 and I purchased it at Best Buy. It has a rubber piece that covers the charging port, but can be easily removed for charging while still in the case. The only downside of the case is because of the added girth, it makes the iPod unusable with iHomes or other docks unless you take it out of the case.

  • Can Some recommend a html book/class

I would like to start learning the html basic's (and I mean
    basic's) :)
Can anyone recommend a good book or online class.
Is there an html for dummies book? (Haven't looked anywhere

I too would wholeheartedly recommend this book by Elizabeth
    Castro (
HTML for the world wide web - with XHTML and CSS. )
And I see that the sixth edition is now out ( I have 5th ) -
    I've read
their website to see what changes there are - apparently
    sections on
frames taken out - and much more on CSS.
So I will have to think about upgrading to 6th edition.
Can anyone advice if it would be good value to buy 6th - is
    the new
    material worth the money .

  • Can anyone recommend a good app for designing and printing labels?

I have just switched from pc to mac and have pages on my macbook but it does not have a label function (please apple sort this out its the only major flaw!) so can anyone recommend a good app that will do what a pc does? I do not really want to pay £85+ for office for mac just for the word program

One way to find an app at the App Store is to use keywords.
Type   print labels   in the search field top right corner of the App Store window then press Enter or Return on your keyboard.
Click one of the apps listed. Always check Requirements under Information and definitely read customer reviews before purchasing and make sure there is a support link available in case you need to contact the app developer for questions.
This forum is mainly for troubleshooting the App Store.
For feedback for software designed for printing labels, try posting your topic in the Mac OS X community here.

  • Can anyone recommend a good audio analyzer beside Waves PAZ & SpectraFoo

Can anyone recommend a good audio analyzer beside Waves PAZ & SpectraFoo.
Inspector is not what search. It should be exacting.
    Thanks martin

Hello Martin. I use Elemental Audio's Inspector XL and it works great for me, especially the K-System metering and FFT analyzer. I wish you could resize the FFT window. Now that it is a roger nichols digital product it requires ilok. The other analyzers that I considered before choosing inspector xl were paz (blah), spetrafoo (too much too soon, but maybe later), audioease periscope (not universal binary yet, no k-system), and bias master perfection suite's reveal (also not universal binary yet and works only inside peak and no k-system.) All of this info is from the north american summer so it is probably out of date. My favorite analyzer is Steinberg's Wavelab, it is very configurable and it's easy to setup for monitoring your stereo mix thru another computer, but it is windows only.
It sounds like you really need one of these...
    http://www.cedaraudio.com/products/products.html
One of these pro tools plugins allows you to select and modify fft just like other software allows selection and editing of waveforms. Awesome. EXPENSIVE!
