Can someone at RIM/Blackberry explain why they disabled/eliminated full Outlook sync?

Could someone at RIM/Blackberry explain why they disabled/eliminated full Outlook sync via Desktop application? Don't they realize this was a major differentiator and advantage from iPhone and Android? Not having to sync via the cloud?   There must be a reason?  why not just leave it as an option for those who want it?

It's bonkers - I thought this was meant to be a support forum.
Do BB actually read our posts?

  • Can someone from Adobe please explain why measurements in CS6 are not accurate..PLEASE?

I'm tired of wasting my time looking for reasons why measurements I key in are constantly changed to some arbitary number decided by Illustrator. I'm currently working on a 100mm x 100mm box with a corresponding grid and yet for some reason my measurements get changed to 100.238mm or 99.834mm or similar... I just wasted another 10 minutes trying to work out how to ask someone this question...am I the only one experiencing this...NO! Any answers Adobe, please?

The above answers are absolutely correct, because it was obvious @Brayhill had Pixel-Snap turned on.
Specifically for print work, where keying in values may sometimes not show correctly* in the Control Bar at the top, there is another little hidden setting in Preferences -> General -> Use Preview Bounds.
If you are doing millimeter perfect templates for example, and want the total to show for example 100 x 100mm, regardless of the stroke weight asigned, just uncheck the Preview Bounds box in Preferences.
*Checked will always add your stroke width (as well as some other effects) to the total shown in the Control Bar. This can also be very useful at times, say when you need to fit an entire group with strokes and effects within 100x100mm, like an advertisement.

  • Can someone at RIM REMOVE my PB PIN from the 2.0 beta?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to DOWNGRADE from the 2.0 beta and am unable to do so. Each time I try, the Playbook tries to download OS 2.0 again during the setup process. I was unable to backup on 1.x and have been able to use the "debrick" procedure with Desktop Manager to install 1.0.7.
If someone at RIM can help, please let me know. I've decided to wait for an official release before I start developing for 2.0, I need my Playbook for daily use as well as for development (which is done on the side), and some native apps just don't work properly on this release. Thanks for your help!

  • Can someone help me figure out why system crashed?

I've got a desktop G5 running OS 10.3.9. Today I came home (9pm) and noticed that the fans were on full-blast, and my displays were dark (no "kernel panic" gray square). I rebooted and one of the monitors had a picture that was all crazy - I had to unplug it from the computer's 2nd video card and plug it back in. Then everything was ok. There was a brief (~1 minute) power outage today at 3pm, but I have everything on a UPS and it is set to shut down gracefully when the power is out for more than a few minutes. I'm trying to figure out what happened; according to the System log, it was still up at 6:24pm so maybe the power outage had nothing to do with it (although there were some weird UDP denies from the firewall, apparently coming from my laptop which is also on the home wireless network - very odd). Below are the two logs; can someone tell me why it crashed??

I'm not aware of any, not to say that there aren't any issues.
it may have nothing to do with ntpd, there are a lot of things running.
ntpd just happen to make the log entry at the same time as the panic.
I would check to see if there are any updates available for you system.
if this is the first time that this has happened. it may be (pick one):
    cosmic rays
    sun spots
    the trilateral commission
if this happens more frequently and that traces look the same, then
there may be a real problem that needs to be looked into further.

  • Can someone please help.  I cannot get my iphone calendar to sync to iCal.  I have look all over online and cannot get this resolved.

Can someone help me?  I cannot get the calendar on my iphone to sync to my macbook's iCal.  It also is not showing up on iCloud.  What is the problem?

I don't use iCal, but I think they both must be logged in to the same account and it is not always your iTunes account.
I have see a few iCloud sync issues at it has been usually related to the accounts themselves.
My understanding is you can have and iTunes account, and each of your devices can get free 5GB on the cloud.
The catch is each device needs a iCloud account.  If you want the sync to happen between two devices then those two devices need to share the iCloud account and not the itunes account.
Not sure if this is the cause of the problem your having.

  • Is there a way that depending on which radio someone clicks will activate another text? ie to explain why they chose yes

I have a form that has different questions that have yes/no radio buttons. Is there a way to make it where if they click yes that a text box then appears or becomes active and required for them to explain?

    Yes, one uses JavaScript.

  • HT4539 i have purchased a movie yesterday , already charged...and its not in my librarie!!! pls can someone in your team explain me the procedure to see my rental???

hi, some times itunes can be quite annoying, i rented a movie yesterday nigth and it's not showing in my librarie...maybe someone can help me sort this out? wonder why apple makes itunes so unfriendly, i struggle so much with this ;-( thanks monica

Just rented a movie to try it out.
Mine went into my iTunes library (itunes 11 this is).
I found it by tapping Music in the top left drop down menu and selecting Movies.
From there you will find Rented, Unwatched, Movies, Genres, Home Videos & List across the top (center).
    Tap Rented and Voila!
And yes we're melting! Aircon is my friend!

  • Can someone give some reasonable reason why my REFUND taking this too long?!

So, it's been 3 weeks now since I returned the item from Bestbuy Store that I purchased online. That was a Sigma 18-250mm micro lens for NIkon DX DSLR worth 384.78. Upon returning the item the customer service rep told me that it will just take 3-5days for my refund back to my Paypal account. But since then, no refund appear in my Paypal account nor my bank account. It was so frustrating and annoying. I've been trying to contact the Bestbuy but they told me to contact and check Paypal about this matter. But on  the other hand, Paypal did told me the same thing, to contact Bestbuy and asked the same thing, It's been like that for 3 weeks. And now Bestbuy replied and told me to contact my bank this time and check why still haven't posted the amount to my Paypal account. I checked my bestbuy account and I'm surprised that it says that my refund has been completed but I still haven't received any refund. My Paypal account remains zero balance. I feel so hopeless. Does anyone from BB help me with this matter?

    Hello MishaeL14,
Receiving a refund for a completed return is usually a pretty mindless experience - you make a return, it processes, and you see the funds on your end within a few business days. Typically, customers can expect to see the refunds on their end in 3-5 business days. That being said, this timeframe varies by financial institution, as some take much longer than others to process such transactions on their end.
I’m truly sorry to hear that you still haven’t seen the refund from your camera on your end, when it was processed on our end on 7/14/15. Using the information you registered with the forum, I was able to locate your order and confirm for myself that this is accurate. With this information, I too would strongly encourage you to reach out to PayPal to inquire further about this transaction. If you should continue to not see it on your end, please let us know!
    Respectfully,

  • Can someone help me figure out why this didn't work?

I recently gave my iMac to my nieces....I erased and reinstalled the osx from my disks that came with the program.
They HAD one of the Mac Minis (an old one...g4 I think).
When we started up the iMac, I used the Firewire connection to transfer all the data during setup. we transferred everything.
So far, I have encountered the following problems:
    1. When I opened iPhoto for the first time, it says "the library needs to be upgraded, etc etc...." so I choose to upgrade it, but the application QUITS.
    2. When I try to open iTunes for the first time, it says the the iTunes library was created using an older version and cannot be read. The application quits.
    3. The iMac is currently running OS Tiger, and when I try to put the Snow Leopard disk in, I couldn't even double click it to start it in order to install it?
I have not yet tried any other applications, but does anyone know how I can fix this? I have started all of my new macs using the firewire and I've never had a problem. I am assuming it's because it was such "old" versions of the programs that there is a problem?
The only thing that I can think of, was to possibly erase and reinstall again, NOT use firewire, set the computer up without the mini, and then somehow bring her photos over to the iMac separately ? Can this be done ? Will I be able to start the iMac and use the same user settings (names, passwords, etc).
Any help would be appreciated...this is the first time it didn't "just work" and I am lost !

    christine major wrote:

that might not be a bad idea. and, yes, you should use the +firewire method+ to migrate @ least some of the data using setup assistant (which launches automatically once you have reinstalled OS X). you should be able to safely migrate everything but applications. i would re-install 3rd party applications manually and, since you migrated the user data earlier, you will find that you won't have to re-enter any license numbers or settings.
Pondini has a brilliant [walkthrough|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/Setup.html] for you. just deselect the applications @ the prompt.
when the migration process is done, i would immediately +repair permissions+, then restart. next, i would run software update from the  menu and install any updates offered. repair permissions again and restart.
@ this stage, you might want to try to upgrade to SL again.
as for the iTunes library, the simplest way would again be to connect the two Macs with a firewire cable, boot the source Mac in _*Target Disk Mode*_ (TDM), and copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) from <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music on the source (Mini) to <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music on the target (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there). since you updated all software components earlier, you shouldn't see that error message again.
the iPhoto library can be copied manually, too. again, using TDM, just drag and drop from source to target. see this user tip for locations: _*where important data is stored*_ (one correction to this link: iCal data is stored in ~/library/calendars).

  • Can someone help me to understand why I can not download the updated version of itunes?

I have tired several weeks to download the new update for itunes. I just bought an Ipad today and was trying to update it as well as my phone so that I can be up to date on everything. However, it says "The program can't start becase MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." I have tried to reinstall it several times and nothing works. Any help is appreciated.

thank you, i'm not too smart with this stuff so forgive me, but is there any way to take all the photos off and store them on the computer and just delete them off my phone while keeping texts, apps, etc. all in place? thanks !
With your MacBook, when you connect your iPhone to the MacBook, iPhoto should open up. It will download all of the photos to your MacBook, and when it's done, it will ask if you want to delete them. Do it then. Now, given the number of photos, this is going to take a while. Honestly, that's a lot of photos.
Now, we can get more complicated here if you want, but I never store photos on the iPhone, except for a few of my kids and my motorcycle (don't ask, but for someone with a motorcycle, it's nearly equivalent to kids). Sort your photos by creating albums. Then go into iTunes, click on your iPhone (when it is connected), and one tab should say Photos. You can click on those photos you want to sync to your iPhone.
This should be easy. If you have further questions, just ask, and don't forget to give me a "Solved" when you're done!

  • Can someone help me with understanding why i cannot watch something i bought through my itunes account on my ipad on my pc thank u graham

I recently bought a film using my Ipad from I tunes. My I pad ran out of charge and so I wanted to watch it on my PC.
I signed into my Ituners account but the film is not there, Why?
    Can any one help
    Thank you
    Graham

What country are you in ? Whether films can be redownloaded depends upon what country that you are in, whether the film studio allows redownloading, and whether the film remains in your country's store. What you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes. If you can't redownload it then you will need to copy it over from your iPad

Checked to see how much space is available ??
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space. Less can slow your Mac down.
    Check the startup disk lately?
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.

When you post in the iMac forum be sure to give your iMac model identifies no. i.e., iMac X,X, which can be found by going to your Applications/Utilities folder and launching System Information.app.  In the Hardware Overview section you'll see the Model Identifier.
Give them the system you're running and details of what you're experiencing and when.

  • Can someone place an electronic signature if they only have Adobe Reader?

I'm creating a form with Adobe X Pro that requires a signature, but a majority of the people i will be sending this form to will likely only have adobe reader.  Is there a way for them to "place an ink signature" or sign it with adobe reader?

There are two types of signatures that Adobe Reader can apply.
    1.  The Digital Signature requires a Reader-extended document via Adobe Acrobat Pro or LIveCycle Server ES4 and a pre-created Signature field in the document.
    2.  The Electronic Signature which is applied through an online service called Adobe EchoSign and which is a paid service.
You need to decide which one you want your users to use and then proceed accordingly.

  • Can someone help me and explain how to affect hotspot/image map with css rules or any other way?

i have problem with hotspot because its position cant be fixed to follow the proportion of the fixed background in different resoulutions.

You can't affect hotspots at all with css. Here are a couple different options you have available though...
You could try using multiple images that scale, linking each individual image, instead of hotspots.
You could also look into "responsive image maps" to get quite a few examples of jquery/javascript run image maps that can be scaled.
Depending on your image, (for example, if you are linking states on a map) you would be able to use SVG paths and link the paths with javascript.
