Can someone please tell me a simple but effective method for burning a slideshow to DVD? Now that the connection between iPhoto and iDVD no longer exists, I can't figure out a way to get there with an acceptable quality result.

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

Can someone help me in understanding Public ,Private ,VIP&SCAN for RAC11gr2 as i am new to RAC 11gr2 installtion processThe public IP address is assigned dynamically using dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP), or defined statically in a domain name system (DNS) or in a hosts file. It uses the public interface (the interface with access available to clients).
Oracle Clusterware uses interfaces marked as private for internode communication.
The virtual IP (VIP) address is registered in the grid naming service (GNS), or the DNS. Select an address for your VIP that meets the following requirements:
    * The IP address and host name are currently unused (it can be registered in a DNS, but should not be accessible by a ping command)
    * The VIP is on the same subnet as your public interface
Oracle Database 11g release 2 clients connect to the database using single client access names (SCANs). The SCAN and its associated IP addresses provide a stable name for clients to use for connections, independent of the nodes that make up the cluster. SCAN addresses, virtual IP addresses, and public IP addresses must all be on the same subnet.
The SCAN is a VIP name, similar to the names used for VIP addresses, such as node1-vip. However, unlike a VIP, the SCAN is associated with the entire cluster, rather than an individual node, and associated with multiple IP addresses, not just one address.

  • Can Someone Please Help Me Create a Blog Reader App For My Blog?

Hi ! I am trying to create a blog reader app by using RSS feed for my blog. I found this tutorial on MSDN here Create a Blog Reader using C# and XAML
But the problem is, it says some parts will not work with VS 2013. I even tried to follow each step of the tutorial but get stuck with some "navigation parameter" type-casted to a class. I couldn't understand what do I replace that with as it was
never declared earlier somewhere. Can someone help me with the code? Please, I will be very thankful.
I am using VS 2013 Community update 4 and Windows 8.1

Here is the code and the error i am facing. I tried my best to do other changes like styles for buttons, textblocks etc that are new in 8.1

// on the width of the window. This page has one layout that is appropriate for
// 1366 virtual pixels or wider, and another for narrower displays or when a snapped

    Hi
To add to whar Murray has written, the relative font metric actually comes from the size of the letter 'm'. This means that if you have a width of 20em it will be 20 times the width of the letter 'm' in your chosen font not the browsers default font, (thats the theory). Some older browsers may use the browsers default font, (NN4, I did say old!) or even a few current mobile browsers.
It is also possible, (in a few modern browsers) to use en or ex for the mesurement, and these are based on the letter 'n' and 'x' respectively.

  • Can someone direct me to the Aperture-specific Applescript documentation?

I am looking for any Applescript documentation that references anything specific about Aperture. The Aperture web pages say that Aperture supports Applescript. I'm looking at general Applescript documentation now, and I think there may be some possibilities for dealing with various issues, depending on what Aperture actually supports.
If anyone has any information they can direct me too, that would be great!
    Thanks in advance.

    kgelner,
Thanks! Oddly, when I look in Automator, all of those actions don't appear. I'm still fairly optimistic about what can be done here, even if its automating a little more essentially the same solution that Ian put together regarding saving a version in Photoshop. Btw, I find it totally bizarro that they don't include an "export Master" command -- all they include is an Export version command, which will not export the original RAW, but rather a rendered, converted version.
After spending a couple of hours last night looking through this stuff, I think I'm nearly resolved that aside from the RAW conversion quality issue, AppleScript/Automator commands are where I most want to see improvements. If Apple would open up the application a little more, then I have no doubt within days there would spring up a whole world of workflow and processing options.
I'm going to spend today putting together a workflow that includes Photoshop as the editing tool, combined with whatever automation I can put together, and see if I can't make life happier.

  • Can someone direct me on how to upgrade my G5 iMac 2009 to OS Yosemite?

    UPgrade

Back up your data, click here, and read the entire page. Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004; some other installed software may also be incompatible.
    If you're using a 2009 iMac, it's an Intel Mac, not a G5. An actual G5 can't be upgraded past 10.5.8.

Media formats supported by QuickTime Player
QuickTime Player natively supports the following media formats and codec components. You can also extend QuickTime to support additional codecs and components.
Below are the media formats and codecs that QuickTime Player can play back in Mac OS X v10.6.x or later:

  • I would like to remove the spacing between bookmarks in the bookmark toolbar. Can someone direct me to the right location?

I just use the favicon icons for my bookmarks but now they are too far spread out. How to I remove the margin or padding between them? They were nice and tight until I did an update...

You can experiment with code in userChrome.css to adjust the margins and hide the text if you are currently donig this differently.
Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.
    <pre><nowiki>@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
    #personal-bookmarks .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-text {display:none!important}
    #personal-bookmarks .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-icon {margin:0px!important;padding:0px!important}</nowiki></pre>
The plain text customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

  • Can someone explain what the new feature "Webform Security" is for?

I notice there is a new field called "Webform Security" which inserts { module_ccsecurity ] into the form code but I have no idea what this is for and there is no reference to this module in the knowledgebase.
    Can anyone offer some details?

Log into your bank, stay logged in and open a new tab. Then visit another site on the internet.
Now lets pretend that on this other site, someone (like the site administrator or a commentor) included a link that pointed to a url such as http://www.YourBank.com/TransferMoney?FromAccount=12345&ToAccount=54321&Amount=1000 and then you clicked the link, the bank would think you were making a legitimate transfer request becuase you were still logged in.
Fair enough, but you probably wouldn't click that link because you're smarter than that.  Unfortunately your browser isn't so smart, and it doesn't have to be a link.   They could have included an image tag, or css style sheet or javascript file that pointed to that url and your browser would have automatically "clicked" the link on your behalf when it tried to download the resource.
    Thats CSRF in a nutshell.
There are ways to mitigate this danger, but its up to site owner (the bank in this example) to make sure this can't happen. As an end user it's mostly out of your hands. This tag appears to be BC's way to mitigate this, and it appears to be similar to other soultions to this problem.
I don't know if it works though, it's not docummented, so your guess is as good as mine.  Either way its probably a good idea to include it on your forms.
