Can Someone give me the file "VXI Send Message.vi"

I'm trying to use Tektronix CDS 73a-453 in a VXI Module. But to run the basic VIs for it provided by the manufacturer, I need the following four files.
VXI Send Message.vi
VXI Receive Message.vi
Open VXI Instrument.vi
Close VXI Instrument.vi
If you have these VIs in your version of LabVIEW, then please give me. Thanks a lot.

Have you installed NI-VXI on your machine? You can download it here. I could send you the VIs, but without the driver (NI-VXI) installed, the VIs won't do you much good, because they will try to reference the driver. Let me know if you run into problems downloading the driver.

In a project I have to review I stumbled into some log files displayed with Tx KCLP. It's some "external data transfer" logs.
Unfortunately I miss the big picture and I did not find much on KCLP. Can someone give me a hint what's the big picture, e.g. what kind of applications use the KCLP logs.

Can someone upload all the files in iPod_Control folder?

I need to get all the files from the iPod_control folder especially the one that is in the \iPodcontrolgamesRO. I've accidentally deleted those files that caused my games corrupted. Could someone just upload a .zip file of it. I really really need it. Hope that someone could help me. thanks !

Gradients - can someone give me the "big picture" on this topic?

I am a self-confessed beginner, but able to read manuals and make progress. However, I can't get my head around "gradients" - that is, when should you use the gradient "tool" and when do you use gradient "adjustment layers"? Putting it another way, are there specific things that only the gradient tool can do? (forgetting about destructive and non-destructive editing - just the effects possible). The one thing that sticks in my mind is that the gradient tool has this little line you draw to control the degree of gradient applied.
Anything you care to offer would be much appreciated!

You're on the right track so far.
Some examples:
Make a rectangular selection around the part of the image you want to make a gradient behind.
Layer - New Fill Layer - Gradient.
Name it something useful, like Lower Right Background
When the Gradient Fill comes up, change to Radial and [ OK ] - you can adjust later.
At this point you should have a new layer in your Layers panel with a gradient icon on the left and a layer mask on the right.
Double click the Gradient icon on the left to alter the gradient. This brings up the Gradient Fill dialog indicating you can edit the gradient.
Note that by clicking the gradient color portion of the Gradient Fill dialog you can edit the gradient directly, adding and moving points as you need.
Fool with colors, etc. until you have it looking the way you want.
While the Gradient Fill dialog is up, you can drag the gradient around to position it.

Can someone give me the rundown on "n"?

If I understand the original airport was "b". Then came Airport Extreme which is "g". So now comes the new Airport Extreme (how about a new name?) which is "n".
My old G4 tower (and my daughters G3 iMac) use the old style Airport card. So they must be "b". My G5 tower is Airport Extreme and I belive is "g." (I have always wondered if the G4 slows down the network since it is regular not extreme.) And I guess current production computers are "n."
So, what does "n" do for me?

You might notice a difference, but as a general rule your connection to your computer will be No faster then the card your computer has in it.
But you will for sure notice a difference if you use an ethernet cable and hardwire the connection. But only at the transfer rate of the b or g.

Dear Dan,
It was from InDesign that I was creating the shared pdfs. I was one of two Mac drivers in a corporate sea of Win users and had to make the change I mentioned in order for the Win users to see my pdfs for review. The difference from what you appear to be doing was that were all on an MS Exchange Server so the files were shared over the company's Exchange Server e-mail system. However, some of these files occasionally went to outside users via regular e-mail and those people had no issues either.
So what I did was tested and worked for years.
You might look at the Adobe forums or Knowledge Base to see if that is a reported issue with newer version of CS. I was on CS2 when I was doing this, and the other Mac driver was on CS3 but had no problems either.
Some Win users I've talked to find a problem opening some pdfs (not mine) in general and found they had to open Reader first and them open the file from Reader's File menu. That most often happened if the client was using an outdated version of Reader.

Everything runs als Root, can someone give me a hand for the system rights?

yeah I screwed up big times because of this neat unknow_user "Feature" in Leopard.
First i installed a os 10.4 app under leopard which let the disk utility slow down and the finder crashes if i change the user rights, and then i changed globally the group and user of everything in the application folder and my documents folder with pathfinder for looking if i can solve the problem that way.
-But now everything runs as Root and even the hd itself has a owner root and as group admin.
i don't get the difference between system, root, admin, wheel, username for the owner and group. I googled but found nothing clear about this.
And i also wonder what i should do about the group and the meaning of root, system, admin, wheel, username as a group for a single user system. Where should i give a read, read&write and execute permission for example?
at the moment everything seems to run mostly root and every program runs on root and i think this is the worst think that can happen and causes some trouble for the programs.
Can someone give me a short hand and for example tell me if i should set the hd owner to my username and the group to system or admin or whatever and this also for the application and documents/film and other stuff on my user folder?

Audio is your CPU activity, and Disk i/o is the amount of bandwidth you're using when streaming files from the hard drive (audio files and sample streaming).

Can someone please upload the Downloads Stack.doc file to somewhere for me to download? The document detailing how the downloads stack works. I deleted it by accident hoping to free up space but figured out that the dowloads stack now looks horrible without it. So, can someone please upload it? Thanks. The document with the green down arrow that comes with your mac when you clean install the OS. I don't exactly want to clean install Mountain Lion just for the document so... yeah.

Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. I did not miss the the text at the top of the feedback form but you presumably missed my initial text, 'someone here can explain' or my subsequent 'work around from another user'
Just in case anyone reading this has a large collection of music videos, video podcasts or iTunes U then DO NOT upgrade your iPad to iOS 5. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. (unless someone on this forum knows of a way to undo the mess created by those infallible folks at Apple)

Can someone explain how .prel files work?

Can someone explain how .prel files work? My C drive is O/S and programs, my D drive is storage and the project file(s) (the .prel file) are on my E drive.
How is this supposed to be more efficient/faster? P.E. (C drive) has to constantly communicate back and forth across drives with the .prel file and all the files in the subfolders? It seems like it would be slower.
As I mentioned in a previous post; my zooms in/out of the Timeline are VERY slow. It is almost 1 second before the Timeline gets bigger/smaller. Any info would be great,thanks!

By using multiple HDD's, one is spreading the I/O (Input/Output) load over various HDD's. The controller is faster than a single HDD, being tasked to read/write from/to multiple places. One of the first laws of physics is that an object cannot be in more than one place, at the same time. The heads on a HDD are no different. If requests for multiple reads are made, the heads will position themselves over on place on the platters, read, and then move to the next requested location, and so on. However, with multiple HDD's, and a good, fast controller, the heads of each HDD will be placed, where necessary, so reads are done at once, from multiple locations.
For ultimate performance, a good setup would be as follows:
C:\ system OS and programs (more reading being done here, than writing)
D:\ Project files (PREL's in this case)
E:\ RAID 0 Scratch Disks for Media Cache, but not Render files (both reading and writing)
F:\ RAID 0 Media files (more reading, but also writing)
G:\ RAID 0 Export/Share and Render files
Some go so far as to separate out Audio Assets from Video Assets, and use a separate RAID 0 for each
The downside of that "ultimate performance" setup, is that when a Project is completed, to clean up, one has to go to many HDD's, and locations. There can also be issues when Archiving a Project, because things are scattered about.
I get "good performance" by having my Project, Copies of my Assets and all Scratch Disks on one HDD. What I give up in performance, I make up for with housekeeping chores, when the Project is done. I still spread my OS/programs from my Projects, with separate physical HDD's.

PS - Above, I mention RAID 0, but even greater speed can be achieved via many HDD's in the Array, and perhaps a RAID 50. RAID 0 is just two physical HDD's. Also, for RAID, I recommend a dedicated RAID controller card, and NOT software, or the MoBo's RAID capability.
