i have a HP Pavilion dv6636nr laptop and were my sound icon is located it has a (x) on it and it says no audio output device is installed I've tried everything i download the audio driver from hp ssoftwear & downloads and i get a error msg that reads driver installation failed :could not find the device for this driver can someone pleaseeeessss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help

Open your Displays system preferences. Is there an Arrangement tab and does it show two screens? If no Arrangement tab then your mac does not know it has two screens. Maybe smc and pram reset will shake it free and maybe not. Maybe there's something wrong with the connection. Thunderbolt plugs are similar to mini-displayport plugs so make sure the plug is pushed firmly in so that essentially all the metal part disappears inside the socket. The plugs can be a little tricky in that you need to make sure the plug is fully seated in their socket.
If you do see two screens in the Arrangement tab then click Detect Displays and Gather Windows to get the Displays preferences of the other monitor on to your main monitor. Check the resolution and if there is a refresh rate check that as well.

You do realise that wiping the disk means that everything on the disk is erased. Everything. Photos, music, emails, ...
So the first piece of advice is to make sure you have a back up of everything.
You need the OS disk to reintsall the operating system. You will use that disk first to erase the drive, then to reinstall the OS.

Firefox is running very slow and keep's saying not responding for 3 seconds and then does it again repeatedly. Please even when I type words and letters from firefox it types very slow and what I am typing has to catch up with the last thing I typed. I cannot open itunes on my windows (older verson of windows) It keeps saying short cut has change or moved and no longer working properly. I have tried to do a repair on the file but the computer wont let me. I have tried reinstalling itunes but still not working. I tried to install nef files from my nikon d750 and it said I needed to install an update for lightroom. it told me to launch creative cloud to do so. when i tried to launch nothing was happening (I didn't realize it was launched in my nav up by the date ). i then went to the website and updated the latest version there. when i started lr it now asks me for a serial number. i have the cloud version and i'm not sure what to do now. i can't find anything in my email (just a verification of paid email) and nothing is in my account info. can someone please help! i'm on a deadline for monday and adobe is closed until then!! ugh..

thanksYou are probably running OS 10.4 or 10.5 on a PPC Mac. No version of iTunes higher than 10.6.3 is available for these older Macs. I have the same problem, and while I can still use the PPC to sync my iPod, it can't be used to sync an iPhone 4 or higher. The only solution, as I discovered after upgrading to the iPhone 4, is to buy a newer Mac. I was able to get a 2006 MacBook running Lion for under $300, and that has been a lifesaver.
