Can Someone Shed so more light?

So I've been tinkering with TM for a few days now. I've stumbled upon a few hiccups, some where my bad and others... well TM just failed to work, but Pondini and other users have helped knock my head on straight. Unfortunately I'm still in the, refusal to learn mode.
I am now really confused as to what TM is supposed to be backing up?
I currently have a full back up that started this Saturday, and a bunch of incremental backups.
I tried testing TM by creating some new files on the desktop and expected that during the next hour backup TM would show these new files in the Desktop folder of the backup. Unfortunately they did not show up. They do how ever show up in the (Today Now) finder window in time machine but not in the actual backup window for the time of the backup.
I decided to also create a new folder and a Pages file with in it and placed them in my users Documents folder. The next backup interval came around and these nor the new files on the desktop were backed up. Being patient I waited for several backup interval to pass. None of the backups have yet backed up the new data on the Desktop or the Documents folder.
Is there a very obvious (something) that I am missing? Should TM not be backing up newly created user data? I am kinda confused on what TM is backing up or should be backing up...

To clarify... Last night I rebooted the iMac (10.6.4) then manually ran a TM backup, TM finally backup the newly created data on the desktop and in the Documents folder. But at that time I was still not sure that any newly created data after that point would be backed up by TM on the next automatic cycle. I created some more folders and files and then today when I checked... TM had indeed backed the new files as well during an auto backup cycle.
So it looks as though Pondini set me straight once again. Hopefully TM will continue to act appropriately.

By the way I did perform a Verify disk on the startup drive when I was troubleshooting the first issue I had, when TM totally locked down the iMac. I had to force the iMac to start with the proper disk with the option key. After booting I did a Verify on the disk just to see what it would come up with.
Just thought I would catch anyone up in relation to your Time Machine Troubleshooting tip D5.

So it appears you have only one library on the hard drive. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed to that library:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

We want you to be able to enjoy all your music! Were all the songs downloaded from the same source? Are all the songs that play at the low volume from the same place? Is the music you are listening to stored on your device or a 3rd party application?

ITunes would not let me download music properly to my iPhone 4S, can someone shed some light on how I can fix it?

I recently aquired an iPhone 4S, perfectly fine, around 2 months old. everything is working fine, and all apps and music are downloaded on to iTunes and WERE origionally on the iPhone. I started to then add more songs from iTunes, though the phone started refusing to download them and then the majority of my collection were then deleted. I did origionally think that this was simply because it could not find the location of all the music files, though upon searching i found that iTunes could indeed fine every single file, and that they all played perfectly well in iTunes. I did reset the phone and try simply re-installing the exact same storage pre-reset, though it simply made all of the songs like that. The iPhone (4S, 32GB, 4 month old) did have around 900 songs on it, all playing fine, though recently the number on iTunes is around 1240, though I don't want all the songs on.
It is not that I am incapable of understanding the software of iTunes or of the iPhone, and I have had previous Apple products and also had interaction with various models (iPhone 5/5C/5S) and Android, so it this is where it stumps me on what the actual problem is.
I have tried doing things like:
Reseting the phone
Making an individual playlist with all of the songs that I want on my phone
Downloading Albums/Artists/songs/playlists individually (as to rule out if it is a specific artist/song/so on
Downloading everything and then trying to get iTunes to download the actual song directly
When updating/syncing my options on the Music tap on iTunes when the iPhone is plugged in, it registers on iTunes that the every song that I have ticked to be included in the sync has been synced, though upon checking my iPhone on the music app, the majority of the music will either have failed to sync or not be there, or be registered but unplayable (the title of the song is slightly transparent/grey). Then upon inspection of the [Settings>General>About>Songs], the count does not equate to that which is stated on iTunes.
Any help will be appreciated as soon as possible, as my iPhone is used for music a significant amount of the time and the loss of around 700 songs off of my phone is quite significant.
Bearing in mind that I am only 16 years old and have no actual IT knowledge in-depth of what is actually occuring other ethan what the consumers can see through such things as the settings and the location of files and their formats, I would be appreciative if any explanation wouldn't end up being too confusing, nor it being patronising (for instance, my ignorance of how to download music to iTunes)

I had EXACTLY the same issue recently. What I had to do on my PC was go into the My computer section> click on my C drive> click on users> click on my username> go into music and then iTunes> Here you should see something that says iTunes Library. Make sure that iTunes is Closed and then take the iTune library and drag it onto Your desktop. This will create a copy on the desktop but iTunes will not see it. Reopen iTunes and you should see an option to scan for media. Once you do this iTunes should re-build your iTunes library and It should be able to sync. If it syncs fine and all your content is available go to the iTunes library that you dragged to the desktop and delete it as you should not have a new one. If this does not work absolutley do NOT delete the iTunes library that is on the desktop.
Call Apple and let them know of the steps you have taken and request some help. This should fix it though!

Can someone shed some light on my HDMI woes?

I'm running a brand new MacBook Pro Retina 15" with OS X 10.9.4.
I went ahead and bought an HDMI to VGA adapter from Amazon (cheap, Chinese model. No branding.) and when I connected it to the HDMI port on my MBP I got... nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Now, before you start shouting at me "you should get a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort to VGA/DVI/HDMI/Whatever adapter," I already own that. I have a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter and I have a MDP to HDMI/DisplayPort/DVI (all-in-one) adapter. That's not the point. The point is I wanted to, without a bulky adapter, go directly from my MacBook along a sleek, thin cable (bought an active "RedMere" cable) straight to an older VGA flatscreen monitor. The cheap HDMI-VGA adapter I got from Amazon is about the size of a USB dongle and doesn't look unsightly in this type of configuration.
So, before I gave up, I did some tests. I grabbed my old laptop (HP running Ubuntu) and plugged it all in. It worked! Almost instantly. That made me wonder. I grabbed the MDP all-in-one adapter I was telling you about and plugged it into my MacBook, plugged in the HDMI cable and... it worked! But that recreates the same problem as before. Now I have a big, bulky adapter hanging off the side of my laptop.
What can I infer from this? I also read other forum posts about other HDMI-VGA adapters and I found someone mention that the Cable Matters active adapter, with USB power, works with a MacBook Pro. I think it's a power issue! So that leaves me wondering: Why did Apple decide not to send power over the HDMI port?
My friend and I tried to use his MacBook Pro with an HDMI-over-ethernet extender (we had a LONG run to a projector) and we experienced problems, but once again my old HP had none. Why is the HDMI so weak in the MacBook Pro compared to ANY OTHER LAPTOP ON THE MARKET?

I am looking to purchase a mac, with final cut pro 2. I want all the feature of FCP2 to work smoothly on my mac, so the system requirements need to be up to scratch!
Does anyone have a super smooth running mac with FCP2 on it? If so, how much would it cost to put this mac together? Any help woudld be great!

Fill the bays with 500GB drives
Get an Apple 23" Cinema Display or the HP 2407. Get two if you can.
Get a Kona LHe HD card to drive your external PAL monitor. It will also allow you to convert incoming HDV to ProRes422 on the fly.
A good set of near field audio speakers for mixing.
You'll need a tape deck for the appropriate formats you want to shoot as well as a mixing board to route audio.
A good chair. A very good chair. You'll spend a lot of time in it.
Cost -
Figure at least $4,000 US for the computer, ram and drives/ ~ $1500 for computer monitors/~$1600 for the Kona/ a few hundred to thousands for an external pal monitor/ several hundred for the near field speakers/ $5-600 or so for the mixer/ at least $1500 for a DV/HDV tape player / and on and on.
However, before you spend a penny, go intern with someone or a station that does post production. It may save your life.

What do these mean? It seems that it has to do with the NVRAM, or this is related to video cards?

Do I know about the ACPI sleep modes? Yes, I do. Do you really want me to answer that? Or do you really have some writing project that you need written and edited, or some cool new tool that you need to get coded and debugged, or some great artwork created? :-)
The logs are filled with random weird text and sometimes with scary-looking entries and cryptic messages. And occasionally with real errors. (You should see the contents of the logs on server systems, and particularly when something actually is wrong. Then you get to learn more about Unix and the command line, and the various tools and packages, and about troubleshooting. If you're supporting your own servers, that is. But I digress.)
Irrespective of this Console.app questioning, there are some tasks that I'd suggest are far higher priority tasks to investigate and resolve. If you've not already addressed these tasks, of course. In particular, ensure that you have current (external) backups, created via an external disk and Time Machine, or via a Time Capsule and Time Machine, or using some add-on archival software of some sort.
If your data is particularly valuable, consider creating a periodic copy of your data and store it at another location.
Having reliable and tested backups has avoided creating sudden increases in some of those vast tracts of grey hair that were mentioned else-thread. Lacking backups has created grey hair and occasional bald patches for some folks, particularly when those backups were skipped or when the backups had silently failed and the failure went unnoticed, and particularly then when the computer or the disk(s) had failed or the contents on the RAID array had become corrupted, or when the whole computer had been stolen or... ...When bad things happened to good data.

Have you tried looking at the Wii site first?
Given what they have to say there, some firewalls and routers don't play well with the Wii.
As an experiment, try shutting off the firewall on your Mac and see if your Wii can connect then.

Can someone shed some light on boot rom "MP21.007F.B08"?

Looking for general knowledge on this version, it seems out of place and I am currently experiencing issues with my MacPro (April 2007 Dual Quads) where the stepping is different on the CPU's rendering 64 bit Virtualization unusable.
A search on Apple's site renders no results. According to apple my version should be: MP21.007F.B06
I appear to have one physical CPU that implements VT VMCS revision 7 and another one that implements VT VMCS revision 11. These processors are not compatible for VT execution. One CPU is family 6 model 15 stepping 7 and the other is family 6 model 15 stepping 11. Intel has released a microcode patch that addresses this issue for processors that differ only in the stepping. (Apparently according to some comments I found online "rummor only" apple addressed this with EFI 1.2 but I can't apply)

I have been helping my brother establish credit. He has a few cards, low balances, some inquiries, 710 FICO. He apped for Platinum Visa with US Bank yesterday and receieved a message with something along the lines of you will be notified in writing within 10 days. I told him to call the status line and he did. entered his social and it says sorry i am unable to located your credit card application, please hold while I transfer you to a CS agent. He then hung up lol. He is a lil new to the card process, anyone else have call the US Bank status line and their app was not found?

Can someone explain the more everything plan with edge up

I have a share everything plan with 4 smartphones and 6 gig of data. we are soon due for upgrades due to our 2 year contract being up. I am starting to do some research and am confused on how the more everything plan with edge up works.
questions
1. do we have to buy new phones to get the discounts offered by this plan?
2. will my company discount still work with the discounts of the edge up plan?
3. my 4th device is a year oir so from upgrade elegability do we need to wait or can we put that device on the edge up plan now?
4. if we upgrade to this more everything plan with edge up do we need to turn in our old phones?

Can someone tell me more about E+?

I'm currently on my trial version of Photoshop Elements 11, and I am loving it. It's actually the best photo software I have yet come across. Anyway, I saw that there is something called E+ that can install extra features. I did some searching because I want to know more about it, but I still don't quite understand it. Is it a separate version of Elements? An upgrade? How do I get it? What's the cost? I'm enjoying my trial anyway. I'm just interested for the sake of learning and for the possible future.

Technically there's nothing there that you couldn't create with the help of a friend with a copy of full photoshop, but it's worth the small cost for the convenience, IMHO.

Reporting Level - Can someone please explain this attribute?

All - I am a relative newbie to Siebel on Demand but creating reports with other tools for years. I recently came across some reports that I have inherited that are constantly giving us trouble. They are basic reports that look at the count of calls, meetings, etc. for a given user. What we are finding is that we have used this reporting level attribute to filter but depending on the level of manager logging in it is causing problems. Some people can't see the data and some get a massive amount of duplicated data.
When it is all said and done we are looking for a simple manager-to-rep list of the counts of these activities. After looking at the reporitng level value it would look like an indicator of relative position from the lowest level in the reports-to heirarchy. We will generally filter for a level = 0 (or maybe 1) in most reports but what I want is a way to control that based on the user. My requirement is to have the level they can see and the detail at one level lower but I dont' fully understand how that gets created or how I can use system variables to find the user's level to control it.
Anyone that has any background info on this or how I can control a basic anaylytic report in a more maintainable fashion to show my stuff and subtotals at one level lower that would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if I can help with the specific report, but I will try to shed some more light on Reporting Level.
In any report where the Owned By User dimension is exposed, you can find the Reporting Level field. Each user is part of a reporting hierarchy, derived from the "Reports To" value in their user profile.
The best way to see this is to create a simple report with the User Email, Reporting Level, and Manager Email. This will show you the manager at each level. You can use this to expose and filter on the full management hierarchy.
Level 0 = the user. All users have a value of themselves as Manager at Level 0.
Level 1 = Reports To - who the user directly reports to.
Level 2+ = Up the chain...
You may want to take a look at some of the pre-built reports to see how this can be used to achieve Team based reports, such as "Team Pipeline Analysis", "Team Sales Effectiveness Analysis", and "Team Activity Analysis". You can open any of the pre-buiilt reports to use as starting points as well.
