Can someone suggest mp3 specs for my podcast?
I created a podcast and I wanted to have an "enhanced" version and a mp3 version. I did so using Garageband and converted the file using iTunes. The mp3 file came out to be about twice the size of the .m4a file. Are there any settings i.e. sample rate, mono vs. stereo, etc. that I can change to reduce some of the file size?

Setting your podcast to mono will halve the file size. Of course it will then be in mono, so this is an artistic decision.
The sampling rate affects the frequency response. The highest frequency will be a little under half the sampling rate. So 44.1kHz (the CD standard) gives you a top frequency of around 20kHz. For much material you could safely reduce thisw to 32kHz sampling (14kHz). For a podcast which is predominantly speech 22kHz (10kHz) would be fine.
The bitrate affects the amount of compression applied: the lower the bitrate the poorer the quality as artefacts creep in, eventually producing the 'underwater' sound characteristic of very compressed files. I use 96kb/s for mono or 192 for stereo (comes to the same thing) and at this rate the quality is reasonably high. You could probably afford to lower it a bit.
I suggest you copy a small section of your podcast into a new file and try a few different sampling rates and bitrates so you can assess the results for yourself and decide how much you are prepared to compromise quality for a smaller file size. -

Open your Displays system preferences. Is there an Arrangement tab and does it show two screens? If no Arrangement tab then your mac does not know it has two screens. Maybe smc and pram reset will shake it free and maybe not. Maybe there's something wrong with the connection. If I remember right there "may" be a problem if you have a proxie settings enabled.
System Preferences/ Network/ Advanced/ Proxies. Can't remember which one or if it was an issue in 10.7 or 10.6. Just make sure their all unchecked and try again.
You might try a search in these forums for more information. Different fix's for different issue's.

cannot send or receive yahoo mail or gmail from iPhone . installed ios 6 recently. tried rebooting the phone and deleting the email account and adding again but nothing works ! can someone suggest a solution?
Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password. On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo. -

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

Can you suggest a workflow for me?
While I love the file organization and keywording functions of Lightroom, I want to use only Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop for processing. I'm struggling with how to develop a workflow that would include Lightroom, but only for organization purposes.
It seems that every Lightroom workflow tutorial, article or video always insists on making use of the "Develop" module, which I do not want to use. Can you suggest a workflow for me? For instance, which first thing would be best....import my Raw files to a file on my hard drive or import my Raw files into Lightroom. I would prefer working out of Lightroom for post-processing, as I mentioned, but I want to be able to update my Lightroom catalogue with my changes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The XMP file will save the Develop settings between LR and ACR. ACR will read settings from the XMP files (as long as you have the preference set not to store the settings in a central camera-raw database) whenever you are in Bridge or ACR and ACR will write to the XMP files whenever you click Done to exit, or choose Update XMP or whatever the menu items says.
LR can be told to Synchronize metadata settings, or you can explicitly read and write to the XMP files. LR also reads from the XMP files when you import, and writes to them in the background if you have Automatically write XMP files (or whetaver the phrase is) enabled in Preferences.
If you want to live I both worlds then you need to think about what you’re doing with what XMP files, when, so you don’t overwrite something you work on in the other program. As others have suggested, this is harder than if you just used LR or Bridge/ACR for everything. -
