Can someone tell me the correct way to write a link in Portal?

I know this may be asking a lot from the Portal user community, but I'm at my wits end here.. does anyone know how to CORRECTLY write a self-refrencing porlet that passes some simple parameters?
A link to documentation would be preferred, but just a simple answer would unblock my process. :-]
(I have scoured the docs.. no luck :-( )

Okay,... .this is rediculous. I have spent the past few hours.. I say HOURS.... digging to find the Portal / Java equivalent of a way to reference the same page via standard link.
An example in ASP of what I want to do would be:

Pretty basic, eh?...
The fact that I can't figure this out really leaves my quite unimpressed with Oracle's Portal product. I've spent wayyyyy too much time digging through this "Portal Center" portal.
Is there anyone who can help? Anyone??? Hello ORACLE!.....
I just found this seemingly neat UrlUtil class... and of course, I can't figure out how to use the thing because we have no programming guides!!!!!! And the JavaDoc is only useful as reference... it isn't telling me how to use!!

I've linked up the printer to the router via usb. It works like a charm with usb on Lion and wireless on windows.

Can someone tell me the proper way to back up my iPhoto library

I want to back up my iPhoto library on an external hard drive. Do I have to go into Pictures and then iPhoto library to copy it over the external hard drive? Can I not just drag photos and albums directly from iPhoto? My concern is that when I go into albums via Pictures folder and then iPhoto library, you don't see all your photos in the albums. I never understood this.

If you go to ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library, the iPhoto Library is the iPhoto Library folder am am telling you to backup. This Library/folder contains all your images and the data files that iPhoto writes that stores all the album, slideshows, books, etc. info. To keep all this intact, you have to backup/copy the entire iPhoto Library folder.
Previous versions of iPhoto had an Albums folder with aliases to the images in the albums. This Album folder was in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder. iPhoto 5 does not use this Album folder and therefor it is no longer updated. You will find that there are just iPhoto 4 created albums in it.
iPhoto 5 now stores the Album information in a data xml file. The Albums folder within the iPhoto Library folder is no longer used. At some point, usually after a rebuild, you will no longer have that folder in the Finder.
If you need to access photos from an album it is very difficult for a third party application to navigate the iPhoto Library in order to find the photo you need. You will have to know the date of import in order to find the photo.
There are some third party applications that can read the xml file and can navigate the iPhoto library and show you the Albums. Hopefully more applications will be revised to read this file.
Until then you will have to Share/Export the photos to the desktop. You can then navigate to the desktop to use the photos (example: web uploading from online photo site)
If your application supports drag and drop, you can drag the photo from an open iPhoto Library window into your application.
For email you can also use the email icon within iPhoto to open a message with the highlighted photo attached.
You can also use spotlight to find images in an Album...
This is what I have done using Spotlight to find my images that are in iPhoto albums without opening iPhoto..
In iPhoto, select the album, then select all, go to Photos/batch change.
Change the comments to text. In the text field I put the name of the Album.
Do this for each album.
Close iPhoto.
Open Spotlight and put in the name of the Album ( you have to remember the names of the albums or have then written down)
In the spotlight search results. click on "show all"
Under "Images" click on the "xx more" to show all the images in the album.
Make sure you have it in icon view, the icon view box is the last one on the blue images line.
Now you can control click on the image to "reveal in finder", open in iPhoto or Mail, etc.
I am not sure if this is going to make you happy and it is a little more work, but you can find images in albums and even view them in a slideshow (by clicking the play arrow at the end of the Images highlighted blue line) using Spotlight, all without opening iPhoto.
One important thing to know is you can set up a graphic program to be an external editor (when you double click an image in the library} such as PhotoShop or PS Elements. You set up that within iPhoto Preferences. Just make sure you save the image flattened and with the same name. The edits will then be relected in iPhoto when you hit "save".

I'm making a movie with FCP-10 and want to use the "Indiana Jones" effect for my travel documentary. Can anyone suggest a way to do this or direct me to a site that can?

Not sure what "like magic" means. But I'll offer suggestions that may get you closer to that goal.
- First, to make it a dotted line, first draw a short line, one that will be a single dash in your dashed-line. Turn its visibility off (I left it turned on in the screen shot below, so you could see it). I'll name this layer "Single Dash".
- Next, you'll draw your Bezier line as in my article.
- In the bezier line's Outline properties, change Brust Type to Image, and drag the Single Dash layer into the image source well. This will create your dashed line.
- To animate it, first with the playhead at the start of the timeline, keyframe Last Point Offset to 0. Move the playhead to the end of the timeilne, and keyframe that to 100%.
- To make it "travel" as I think you're trying to do, move the playhead to the start of the timeilne. Then drag the First Point Offest slider slowly to the right until 3 dashes (or how ever many you want) show. Keyframe the First Point Offest to that. Move the playhead to the end of the timeline, and adjust that parameter to taste, keyframe.
- Adding a Drop Shadow could help give it some depth.
- Making the Group a 3D Group, and adding a camera, moving the camera along, maybe some special lighting, could make the whole thing really cinematic.
You'll probably want to experiment with these settings, too. And don't forget you can put a Fade In/Out behavior if needed. Let me know if this helps, or if you have any further questions.

I have a MacBook Pro Retina 13" from mid-2014 that I bought this March. It's going good, except I've noticed some white spots on the left side of my trackpad, and a white streak on the right. (apologies if they're hard to see, but they're there, trust me) I generally keep my hands pretty clean, don't sweat a lot and don't really even rest my hands on the laptop. you could try forcing it into recovery mode by turning it off, hold the home button and plug it into iTunes at the same time, keep holding the home button until iTunes says its detected a device that needs to be updated or restored. Then restore.

Hello i recently transfered to a new mac and i have it perfectly figured out so first off dont use migration assestant if you don't want to get your old computer exactly on your new computer. In my opinion starting on a fresh computer is best, BUT you still want your files so i have a video you can watch if my instructions don't make sense.
1. Go to finder and find your music folder
2. click the folder labled itunes
3. click itunes music or find the folder with all the folders in it that have names of artist or albums
4. then select all those folders with the artis or album names with commant A this will select all those folders
5. then drag these to and external hard drive or connect to your old mac from your new mac wirelessly to find these folder
6. if you did wireless sharing option just drag all those folders to the itunes icon if you used an external harddrive find the folders on there and do the same.

This is not a difference between your Macbook Pro, but the keyboard key cap type (the small plastic squares for each on your keyboard) I think it has to do with what is printed on the modifier keys, but the difference is minor and the both seem to be compatible with the same models based on the links you posted.

this user name and password may be diff becoz if u have only sql authentication then u have to know that user name or it can have windows nt authentication so if it is so then no probs can use ur windows nt login..

OK. Finally found the answer. Thanks for all those that responded.
Actually was able to get the triple play fios (20mps for internet), fios tv and phone for $84.99 (there was an additional discount of $10 if you order via phone). After all applicable taxes the final bill comes to ~$102/month. Free standard HD top box. Hope this helps for others out there in NYC. I assume if you were to go with the 94.99 the final bill would be ~$10 more.
