Can someone who has NO Apple products get an iCloud account?

Can someone who has NO Apple products get an iCloud account? I cannot find a clear answer.
Now with the just-announced iWorks Beta for iCloud, I'm wondering if non-Apple product users will have access to it, similar to the way that anyone can use Google Docs?
It would make my life easier if anyone could qualify for a limited account and we could share our work. It would probably lead to more Mac, iPhone, and iPad sales as well.

This article gives the minimum system requirements for iCloud: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759.  What it doesn't clarify is that you can't create an account on a PC.  This is shown in step 2 of this guide: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html, where it says you enter the ID you used to create the account; meaning, it must first be created on an iOS device or Mac.  If you don't, when you try to create it on a PC you will get an error message saying you entered a valid Apple ID, but not an iCloud ID.

  • I have an I pad can I chat with someone who has an Apple Mac computer

I have an I pad can I chat with someone who has an Apple Mac computer, if so what do I need to do ??

    Hi,
In Messages on the iPad you need to be using an Apple ID (which you probably are)
You can then iMessage (the form of Apple Chat Messaging that is used) to other Apple IDs or iPhone numbers.
They have to be using iOS 5.5 or higher or OS X 10.8 on a Mac.  ( A Mac could be up to OS X 10.8.2 if updated iOS devices could be up to iOS 6.0.1)
You then needs either WiFi access or a Data contract and an iPad that can do at least 3G (some have SIM cards)

  • How can I have one "family" Apple ID and two icloud accounts one for me and one for the wife?

MacVirgin!Just got new Air and iMac (iphones on the way). How can I have one Apple ID but two iCloud accounts (one for me and one for my wife)? I have set up one iCloud account and am attempting to share contacts between iMac, iCloud and Air, however iMac and iCloud are not in sync? I must be missing something very simple.

ok. I set up the imac and Air with one user account. this was used to activae iCloud on both machines and I have now se up one iCloud account and managed to share calander and contacts between the two. Ultimately both me and my wife will have an iphone and we wish to share calenders and contacts. We both also use the imac and air on one user account. It looks like I need to set another user account then activate iCloud in my wifes Apple ID

  • How can I find out who has had unauthorised access to my iCloud account

I have received an email to say that someone has accessed my iCloud account.  How can I find out details of who has done this ?

You can't.  All you can do is change the password to deny future access.
Are you sure the email is legitimate?  There have been numerous reports recently of forged emails like this trying to get people to click a link and disclose thier iCloud credentials.  Be sure you don't do this.  If you want to change your password, go to Apple's site here: https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid?app_type=ext&app_id=93&languag e=AU-EN.

  • How I stop someone who stole my Ipod from getting into my account

Someone stole my Ipod but I have a lock on it but how do I stop them from going to Apple and telling them they forgot their so called passwrod. That I put on it.

    - Apple will not help at all. See:
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
    This inscludes saying:
" Although Apple does not have a process to track or flag lost or stolen product,"
    - With a screen-lock pass code all a person has to to do is to place the iPod in recovery mode and restore the iPod fto factory defaults/new iPod.  The iPod will be erased but they can then set it up as a new iPod.

  • I press the IWeb Icon and nothing happens-can someone who has a clue please walk me through-thanks!!!!

I click on my iWeb icon and nothing happens…please help!!

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iWeb are you using?
what system version are you running?
what exactly happens when you click on the iWeb icon in the Dock? Does the icon move at all or do you get a warning message?
have you tried clicking on the iWeb application in the Applications folder?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • TS2446 I just got my Ipad and I can not download apps.  I get a message saying my Apple ID has been disabled.  I have reset my password, I can access itunes and icloud but still can not download apps.  Can someone please tell me how to get my ID activated

I just got my Ipad and I can not download apps.  I get a message saying my Apple ID has been disabled.  I have reset my password, I can access itunes and icloud but still can not download apps.  Can someone please tell me how to get my ID activated?  TY

Depending on why it's been disabled you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
Or you might need to contact Apple : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
If it then works on your computer's iTunes but not your phone/iPad then try logging out of your account on the phone/iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it

See this link from another similar question.  It may need patience to resolve.  I think Thomas Reed's suggestion is best place to start.

  • Can someone tell me if Apple has resolved Security Update 2008-006 Issue?

Hi, I'm running Tiger (10.4.11) on a PowerBook G4. I just upgraded to iTunes 9. Unfortunately, I cannot access the iTunes store unless I upgrade Safari from my current version (3.1.2) to a newer version (4.0.3 or better). I just downloaded the installer for 4.0.4 and I can't install that until I install the latest security update (currently, 2009-005).
Now, I have been reluctant to install security updates ever since 2008-006 proved to be a disaster. You might recall the issue people had with the update screwing up their network settings (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1712387&start=0&tstart=0). When I had this issue the only way that I could solve this was to do a clean install of my OS. I do not want to have to go through this again. Can someone tell me if Apple has resolved this issue? If they haven't, could someone tell me where I can get the previous version of iTunes so I can install that?
I refuse to install another security update until I know that this problem has been solved.
    Thank you.

In my humble opinion: yes, they have fixed the problem. As I posted here (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2292768&tstart=30), I had also declined all the updates since 2008-007 (and the following Quicktime update as well) caused a piece of software that I rely on to stop working. I recently did do the install of 2009-005, Quicktime, and all the other updates, and the result was a system that works perfectly. And quite frankly, I was amazed.
Between network settings, Finder crashing, and several other misbehaviors, a couple of the updates right around January 2009 did indeed cause heartburn for a number of people, as documented here- and more than a few of us quit accepting the updates as a result. I'm very happy that whatever the underlying causes for that misbehavior might have been, those problems appear to have been resolved since then...
So I'd have to weigh in with a "do a really good clone backup, and then go for it!" as well, based on my recent experience.

Can't send imessage to someone who has switched from android to iphone, but kept the same number

    One thing you can try
Turn iMessage off on your phone
Reset your phone - no data loss
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Then activate iMessage and start a new conversation and see what happens

  • If I'm overseas, and I use iMessage not connected to wifi, and I'm messaging someone who has an iPhone as well with ios 7, will get charged SMS/mms fees?

if I'm overseas, and I use iMessage not connected to wifi, and I'm messaging someone who has an iPhone as well with ios 7, will get charged SMS/mms fees?

No, but cellular data will be used at whatever international roaming rate you carrier charges for data in whatever country.
Exchanging iMessages requires the same thing as email - an available internet connection. SMS/MMS is completely separate from iMessage.
