Can sony slt a77 tether with Lightroom 5.3?

Can the Sony SLT a77 be thethered with Lightroom 5.3?

Refer http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom-4.html
If your camera is not listed (only select Canon, Nikon and some Leicas are listed) then tethering is not supported in Lightroom.

  • SONY SLT A77  AVCHD downloaded to iMac (Mountain Lion-OS 10.8.2) via iMovie. Why can't QuickTime recognize the movie?

I have a new SONY SLT A77 Camera. I did some test movies using AVCHD format and downloaded it to my iMac with MacOS 10.8.2 via iMovie '08.  When I tried to open the clip from the iMovie Events File, QuickTime 10.2 (603.6) failed to recognize the movie format. Why?

This is tricky dick!  I have my HP-6L laserjet working with my iMac!  I am using a Sabrent USB to 36-pin parallel cable.  I downloaded the glutenprint 5.2.9 driver and installed it!  The laserjet is working flawlessly!

  • How can I do something similar with Lightroom

With the combination of the Editor of "Photoshop Elements" (PSE) and of the KODAK SHO Professional Plugin (which runs as a "filter"-plugin in the PSE Editor environment), I can often fixd photos which-
    - have both bright and dark portions
    - and which show poorly details in the bright portions.
But (probablay because I have not sufficient LR expertise), I do not understand how to achieve similar results (or: better results) with Lightroom.
Is an experienced LR user aware of a relatively ***simple*** way to achieve something similar (or, even  to achieve better results) with LR and is willing to explain her/his solution to me? Thanks very much in advance for it.
Now, I need to explain in detail, with one concrete example, what I can do with the combination of PSE and KODAK SHO.
A concrete example of a Photo that I need to edit follows (continuation of the description of my problem/questions follows in the next Post).

The Fill Light slider brings the shadows up and the Recovery slider brings the highlights down.
Also, in LR3 the Curves is different from LR 2 in  so far as you now can pull up or down both ends of the curve vertically. This was not possible in LR 2.
Grab the little circle at the left / bottom end of the curve and pull it up vertically. That will lighten your blacks / shadows. Grab the little circle at the right / top end of the curve tool and pull it down. That will darken your highlights. This process will make your image look a bit flat; if so, increase contrast by giving the curve a gentle S-form.
Directly below the curves tool you have the option to choose between "linear', "medium contrast', or "strong contrast'. If you choose one of the latter two, the end points of the curve will snap back to zero but the curve will have a curve (no pun).
Also, in case your image does not have enough contrast, instead of using the contrast slider, you can pull the end points of the curve horizontally.
Apart from these image-wide changes you can make local changes with the adjustment brush or with graduated filter. I often use the gard filter to give a little "ooomph" to the sky by setting exposure (for the grad filter) to -0.66. Similarly you can lighten the shadows with a grad filter by giving it an + exposure and/or increasing brightness. Make sure that the grad filter doesn't give you a color toning - unless you want it. With a color toning you can make your shadows less blue (by choosing yellow toning) and your sky more blue (by choosing a blue toning). Naturally you'd need 2 different grad filters for that; you can't have 2 different settings in one grad filter.

  • Can Photoshop Element 9 work with Lightroom 5?

Can Photoshop Element 9 work with Photoshop Lightroom 5?

    Hi David_B,
Thanks for your reply! I've installed PS many times (since version 3, I think), and nothing like this has ever happened. I use and teach PS and LR for a living. The tech person I spoke with told me it is not unusual to have this happen when upgrading to CC 2014.
What happened is that PS CC2014 would not open the image in PS if I used the Photo>Edit In>PS 2014 command unless I used Photo>Edit In>Open as Smart Object. Once opened as a smart object, PS would not save the file. I think it said Error 2.
The tech took control of my computer, removed PS and LR and all the associated files a few times. He told me I'd have to have a high level person help me, but they didn't call me, so I phoned in. After waiting an hour to get to the correct person (not a high level tech) he said he'd have to uninstall everything again and start over and that it would take over an hour. I don't have the time right now to fix it as I'm headed out of town until the end of the month to teach LR.
In the meantime, LR works, but I'm using a trial version that expires in 30 days. It exports to PS ok, but I had to reload all my plug-ins, and apparently LR can't find Photomatix. LR is not installed in my usual applications folder - the tech put it on my system backup drive.
    My case number is: 185696477
Thanks so much for your willingness to help!

  • Profile SONY SLT-A77 DT 16-80mm

My camera is a Sony A-77 with the objective 16-80 (Sony).
Do you know a profile for this combination?
    Thanks for helping me!

Yes, you can make DNG profiles for any camera.
This method uses Adobe's own tools: https://wwwimages2.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/photoshop/pdfs/cs6/DNGProfile_E ditorDocumentation.pdf
Here is a way to make profiles using the X-rite colorchecker passport: http://blog.xritephoto.com/2009/10/creating-dng-profiles-with-the-colorchecker-passport/

  • Tether with Sony A7

I have a Sony A7 and I want to tether with Lightroom 5. The A7 is not compatible with Lightroom 5 so I cant camera tether. Someone mentioned to me that I could tether through a folder and not the camera and I could open up Sony capture and save it to a folder and automatically import with tether. How do I do that. Thanks

Bumping this chain since it's still unresolved.
Couple of things - It seems that we still can't tether any Sony camera (of any kind) directly into LR 5 but must instead use Sony's Remote Camera Control and watched folders. This wasn't ideal, but seemed to work ok.  However, I confirmed with Sony that RCC version 3.3 is not supported by Yosemite with no expected update on the horizon. So if you tether a lot as I do, DO NOT UPDATE OSX. I updated already, so now I'm desperate for alternatives.
Secondly, it looks like CaptureOne 8 is currently the best route for tethering with your Sony, but if you're using an A7/r/s, A99, or A77II you're not going to really have much functionality beyond capture. No camera adjustments supported nor live-view. I've downloaded a trial and confirmed this myself. Capture One Pro 8 camera support
My main question though, is that Sony has released an SDK for camera remote api here Sony Camera Remote API beta SDK | Sony Developer World As a non-developer I'm curious if anyone knows if this is what LR needs to give us native tethering?

  • Lightroom export - original file with Lightroom modification data

    Hello, hello!
I have imported a folder of, for arguments sake, some JPEGs, TIFFS, and DND photos into Lightroom, leaving the files in place, and just linking them to the Lightroom Catalogue's Library. I have then made a whole load of 'modifications' to the photos in Lightroom (the data for these modifications is stored in the Lightroom Catalogue file, right?).
Can I now export some of the photos from Lightroom so that the file that comes out is in the same/different file format (e.g. JPEG/TIFF/DNG) and have the Lightroom modification data embedded (perhaps in the EXIF data) of the exported file? Can I then open this with a 'normal' program and have it show the original? Can I then open this with Lightroom/Photoshop (?) and it show the original with the modification data applied?
    Thanks a lot! :-))

Can I now export some of the photos from Lightroom so that the file that comes out is in the same/different file format (e.g. JPEG/TIFF/DNG) and have the Lightroom modification data embedded (perhaps in the EXIF data) of the exported file?
Yes, but you should not export. Just hit Ctrl/Cmd+S to Save Metadata. the metadata will be embedded into the files. Note that the actual image will not be altered. That is, if you view the jpeg in an external viewer you will not see the adjustments made in Lightroom. Only Adobe products can interpred those.
Can I then open this with a 'normal' program and have it show the original?
    Yes.
Can I then open this with Lightroom/Photoshop (?) and it show the original with the modification data applied?
Yes. When you open in Photoshop and it's a non-RAW file (e.g. JPEG or TIFF), there's an option somewhere in Camera RAW to be used for opening non-RAWs. The point is, those have to pass through Camera RAW, rather than opened directly in Photoshop, for metadata to be interpreted properly.

  • Can't tether in Lightroom 4 with Nikon D7000

I have a Nikon D7000 camera and Lightroom 4 updated with the latest version and I can't get it to tether. Lightroom tether says no camera detected when it is. I have tried every thing in the trouble shoot guide but it doesn't work. Any items/suggestions?

Thank you Rikk Flohr for the response, but that didn't work either. I have LR 3 on an old computer and it is detected right away. But I can't get it to work on my windows 8 operating system in LR 4. Go figure?

  • I can't tether my nikon d600 with lightroom 4.2

    i can't tether my nikon d600 with lightroom 4.2

The D600 support is only preliminary (that's why we only get a beta profile for it). You'll probably have to wait for the next LR update before we get thethering.

  • All versions correct, Samsung NX1100 can't tether to Lightroom, and it was bundled with it! Why???

I recently purchased the Samsung NX1100 camera and tab bundle and it came with Lightroom 4.  I have a Canon that is easily found it tethered capture mode but the Samsung cannot be detected.  I downloaded all the versions needed to make it work per the chart provided in support (Lightroom 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4) but it still won't connect.  I'm using OSX 10.7.5 if that makes a difference.  Am I missing anything?  I didn't have to do much for the Canon but turn it on and it's instantly detected.

This camera is not supported for tethering in Lightroom: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support-lightroom-4.html
It was bundled with your camera to provide you with a Raw file processing tool.

  • Using Sony's IDC in combination with Lightroom

I would like to use Sony's IDC Raw converter that comes with the Sony A700 camera, to be able to process through Sony IDC the RAWs with DRO's (Dynamic Range Optimalization) applied (as shot with the A700).
However I would like to keep LightRoom as my archiving base.
    Question:
Can I bring RAWs after importing in LightRoom, to IDC?
Can I after converting the RAWs in IDC, bring the resulting PSDs (or JPEGs) from IDC back to Lightroom (for archiving)?
    I appreciate your help!

    Yes, and No!
Lightroom won't allow you to use IDC on the Raw file, Lightroom only allows ACRaw to be used to "develop" a raw file. However, you can use Lightroom's ranking and review functions to help you decide which files you want to work with. Then right click and select show in explorer. Then select the file you want to develop, and tell Explorer to open in IDC. You then can develop, save as a Tiff and import.
Pain in the Arse isn't it?
Frankly if you have access to Bridge then this is faster and more convenient. Import the ARW and use IDC to make Tiffs.
But why do you want to do this?
Frankly DRO only becomes special when you use DRO Advanced. Anything else can be easily duplicated in Lightroom. DRO Advanced can not be done by IDC,(it's like Lightzone on Steroids) it's done by the camera, the processor looks at each pixel and compares it with adjacent pixels and makes adjustments in the jpg. So the only way to utilise DRO Advanced (and it's astonishing what is achieved) is to shoot in Jpg (and probably in cRaw + Jpeg) I shoot everything in cRaw only but have a MR setting to utilise DRO Advanced - cRaw + Jpeg, ISO 200 (remember that DRO advanced effectively locally amplifies the pixels, so if you start at say ISO 800 certain pixels could be amplified to ISO 6400!
I can then import both the cRaw and the Jpeg.
    Hope this makes sense.
