Can Spotlight search Kindle books?

I've got a whole bunch of Kindle books on my computer (using the Kindle for Mac program). Is it possible to have these indexed in Spotlight?
I can search within the Kindle app itself, but as far as I can tell Spotlight can't do it - but it'd be nice if it were possible. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

You have to first enable VoiceOver in Settings>General>Accessibility. Then, its only one line at a time as you highlight & move down the page.
Amazon just added VoiceOver support to the app.

  • I can't search for books or authors on my iphone 6. It says no results found every time. Is there some setting I may have wrong? I have been using my kindle app instead.

I can't search for book or authors in ibooks.  When I search an author or book and click on it a message that says not results found comes up.  Even if I try to look up something popular like Dracula or Twilight.  Is there some setting I should have clicked?  It won't find or download any books at all anymore.  This started about a month ago.  I have been using my Kindle app instead.

    Hi laurieg23,
I see that you are having issues with your connection to the iBooks Store. Here is an article with some troubleshooting steps that will be relevant to your issue, even though the article was written for issues with the iTunes Store:
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update(iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.

  • Can you share kindle books using family sharing?

Can you share kindle books using family sharing?

    Hi Charlie42,
Happy New Year!  The link below explains how you can tell which purchased content is available to share using Family Sharing.   Contact Amazon for more specifics regarding sharing their content.  The Kindle app itself may be shareable, but the books may be considered an In-App purchase, making them not shareable.  Amazon would be able to give you a definitive answer.

Which purchased content can I share using Family Sharing
After you set up Family Sharing, the eligible songs, albums, movies, TV shows, books, and apps purchased by family members will be available to everyone else in the group. Learn what you can share with your family members.
If you turned on Share My Purchases, you can share most content that's also available in iTunes in the Cloud. You can share Music, Movies, and TV shows from the iTunes Store. You can also share Books that you downloaded from the iBooks Store, and apps from the App Store. The availability of each content type depends on your country.
There are a few things that you can't share:
Songs added to iTunes Match from outside the iTunes Store
    In-App Purchases
Items that are no longer available on the iTunes Store
    Items that were hidden
    Apps that aren't shareable
If you're on an Apple TV, you can't access shared music.See if you can share an app
Use these steps to see if you can share an app before or after you get it.
    App Store in iOS 8
Go to the app's description page. Scroll down to the Information section. If you can share it, you'll see Yes next to Family Sharing.
Go to Updates > Purchased > My Purchases. If you can't share an app, you'll see Not Shareable next to its name.
Mac App Store in OS X Yosemite
Go to the app's description page and check the Information section. If you can share it, you'll see Yes next to Family Sharing.
Go to Purchases. If you can't share an app, you'll see Not Shareable next to its name.

If one of your family members received their content through Apple ID for Students, you won’t see it in their shared purchases. This includes apps and other content distributed through the school.
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing. Content can be hidden by family members; hidden content is not available for download. Content downloaded from family members or acquired via redemption codes is not subject to Ask to Buy.

  • Can I buy Kindle books directly from my ipad?

Can I buy kindle books dirctly from my ipad mini?

Although you can't shop for Kindle content directly from the Kindle reading app, you can shop from the Kindle Store using the Safari browser and deliver Kindle titles to the Kindle reading app on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

Get the Kindle app from the App Store, sign in to your Kindle account, and all your books will be there. Not sure if you actually have to download them first, but there you go.

Login to Amazon then from "your Account" select "your cloud drive" from drop down list.  This will bring the list of file names such as Kindle books or docs, Videos, Pictures, Documents etc.  Click on the Kindle docs then select the item you no longer need and use the "delete" that is listed on the bottom of the screen.  Done.

  • Can't download kindle book to ipad 2

I downloaded the most recent kindle app from iTunes (2.85, I think).  I followed the instructions: tap on Archives and choose book to download.  However, when I did this, I got an error message indicating that I need an update to kindle app and am referred to the iTunes store!  Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what do I do?  Thanks!

    Dave,
Thanks for the URL.  I ended up exchanging a few email messages with Amazon people.  That didn't help so I was connected by phone to an Amazon support person in the US.  It's unfortunate, but the very first Kindle book I tried to download was a gift, and the gift giver didn't realize that he had chosen a Kindle book that can only be read using the Kindle apps for PC or Mac.  Unfortunately, my Mac operating system is too old (and who wants to read a book on a computer anyway?!).  So apparently there's nothing wrong with my iPad 2 or the Kindle app--I hope, anyway!  In any case, I've learned to be careful about ordering Kindle books!
    Thanks again,
    Xilan

  • Can spotlight search iMessages??

Right so spotlight search/messages app search box will literally find sms messages from a year an half ago no problem but whenever it comes to imessage unless its within the last month/ couple of weeks spotlight search will not locate any iMessages further in the past than that.  Ive even tried doing a search pressing the search button and waiting to see if there's any sort of delay but nothing. It's not a major problem I can live with this but just bugs me like how yea text all your friends with samsungs and locate them texts whenever you want but if they have an iphone your never seeing them texts again! Haha stupid logic! Any suggestions welcome thanks

  • Can Spotlight Search Control iTunes?

I've been a Quicksilver user for many years and I've been giving Spotlight Search a try as my application launcher. So far so good, but I think I may have run into a snag. Quicksilver allowed me basic control over iTunes, such as Start and Stop, but it doesn't appear Spotlight Search offers that level of control. Unless I'm missing something.
Can anyone think of a way where Spotlight Search can control play/pause in iTunes?

I was having similar trouble using iTunes 7.4.1 (2). The 'Power Search' quick link off the main store page (Australia) was giving a pop up message that the store was busy, try again later, etc. This has been happening for the last couple of days. If I was further into the site, on a page displaying albums or similar, the Power Search worked just fine. Go figure.
You wanna know the scary part? Since I logged into the discussion pages to post this, I checked back and the link off the main page is now working as it should. They're watching me!!
Tinfoil hat time, me thinks. At least search is working again.

  • Can Spotlight Search Multiple Sources Simultaneously?

Stupid question here - I have pictures on both my Mac and on a shared drive. Is there a way to select both "This Mac" and "Shared" as sources for the Spotlight search? Yeah, I know it's relatively simple to keep all my search criteria the same and click from "This Mac" to "Shared" - that's what I'm doing now - but it would be convenient to have them on the same list.

no, this is currently not possible. it was possible in 10.4 but for some mysterious reason the ability was removed from Leopard's spotlight.

  • Can spotlight search for files in external drives?

I was wondering If I can index my hard drives so that when I do a search in spotlight, they show up along with the files in my primary drive.
    Is this possible?

Yes, but due to connection reliability of external drives, and the constant background noise that is required to keep the index up to date on them, I turn it off for external drives. I use File Buddy or Easy Find to find files on external drives.

  • Can Spotlight search for file creation time ?

    Hi,
Is it possible to use Spotlight to find files with a specific creation date and creation time ?
    Example:
    creation date: exactly 03/03/2008
creation time: after 10:00 and before 12:00

Hi Kees, not that I'm aware of, and since you can't run Classic and "Find File", I'd get EasyFind, Spotlight won't be reliable...

Near the bottom of the page.
you can at least sort by date/time then to narrow it.

  • Can Spotlight search for text inside documents?

I just lost a vital email -- detailed instructions for something I want to do, from a friend. And I don't know where I put it (overlapping possibilities exist within my filing structure).
SHHHH: Windows used to let me search for specific text, inside documents, not just file or folder titles. Can I do that in OSX.8.2?

Use the Find command or its shortcut:
