Can't access a specific site

Hi all, I've searched the forums and found a lot of people with a similar problem, but none of their solutions work for me. I am trying to access a site, but I continually get an error that the server is down or not responding. The problem is, if I use a different computer connected to the same network, a different OS using Parallels, or even when logged in as a different user on mac, I can access the site fine.
I also have a problem with iTunes frequently having connectivity issues, and think that the two may be related.
I have tried all of the things that I have found suggested, such as power cycling the router, flushing the DNS cache, running spyware and malware detection softwre, lowering the MTU, and none of those things have worked. In many of the posts it was suggested that the user login using a different user profile. I did log in as root, and it works just fine. Unfortunately for me, this didn't fix anyones problems in the posts I found, so I don't know what the solution is at this point.
Can anyone help me get back up and running. It's a bit of a pain to have to boot up a whole new OS just to go to one webstite!

Do you think you might want to post the site address so all of us here could see what gives when we try to access it?

  • Can't access a specific site to update

I really hope someone can help me with this. I am trying to update a website that my company manages, but for some reason, my computer is the only one that cannot access this website. Whenever I try, I get "could not be found" or "connection was refused." I cannot upload to this website for the same reasons. It is not the browser because the same message appears in Safari, Explorer and Firefox.
I have emptied the history, cache, and cookies before. As far as I can see, there are no firewalls up. The website was created on the same computer and all the files for the site are on this computer.
I am very much out of ideas on what it would be. Can someone please help? Let me know if you need any more information.
    Thanks

  • I can't access a specific site..HELP

    Hello everyone,
I'm having an issue with one particular website. It's a torrent site which i check almost daily and wasn't having any problems until this week. The site www.gay-torrents.net is giving me the issues.
Now I can go to another persons home and access the site with no problem or if i ask a friend online to access it they have no problem but here at my home with my wireless network (NETGEAR router). Also I can access other sites with no problem either.
I contacted the admin to the site to tell them about my problem and they said it was a DNS issue on their end. Within a couple of hours it was fixed. So I was able to access it for a couple of days then as of Thursday it won't let me back in the site. I contacted the admin again and he said nothing is wrong on their end and gave me the DNS for their site i guess 84.22.123.200. I pinged that in Network Utility and it pings it find. Nothing is lost. However if i type in www.gay-torrents.net in Safari or Firefox it will not come up whatsoever.
Is there something going on with my Router? I thought it was Comcast but I don't think they are the issue.
What can I do to resolve this?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    RB

I feel a bit like Im walking into the past, but Im having the same issue same site. I have Clear, and can open the site in chrome. Not however in Safari.
Im making an effort to Un- Google my world so help on this frontier would be great, The folks at Clear say "We just sell access, we don't block." I believe them, they're not comcast.
Checking in Safari- im told that the sight is down.
    Thanks for any insight.

  • Firefox can't access a specific web site. WHY?

"I have already posted that in 10.4 Forum but the problem is in Leopard"
At home and office I can't access a specific web site with Firefox.
I have tried everything I was able to: cleared cache, deleted cookies, deleted firefox prefs, flushed DNS, tried to log with IP instead of domain, created a new user account in Mac OS, repaired permissions, but nothing happens!
The strange thing is I can access the web site trough a proxy. And I don't have a firewall or similar, my Mac is conected directly to the web. And the problem is the same in any browser I use, like Safari or Firefox or Camino.
Anyone has any idea about what is causing my problem?
Just in case, the site is demonoid.com.
PS: Thanks BDAqua to all support on the other thread.

    demonoid.com
I feel like a dork. Maybe next time I'll read the post better.
Okay, I went to that site and it works fine for me.

No proxies, AV, firewalls or anything. The internet cable is pluged into this Mac.
The problem began 2 weeks ago. When I loaded the page the browser shows status done at the bottom of the window, and at the address bar I see the icon of the web site nd the address but nothing is shown. The source code for that page also is in blank.
I am now using firefox 3 and still have the problem. Safari is up to date with no enhancers. I uninstall all extensions from Firefox also.
    Hard to believe, hum?

  • Can't access some secure sites through proxy?

can't access some secure sites through proxy server on osx it just keeps going local authority couldn't be contacted, i had the same problem with parental controls, but now that is off and its still doing it, is there a setting or something i need to enable?

In my original post, not today's, I had said I was having the issues on the Mini, running OSX 10.6.8 and Safari v.5.1.5 for my bank's pill pay. I should have been more specific as to which machine and OSX Safari browser I'm having the T-Mobile problem with. My mistake.
It is on both the MacMini and now the Air too. A moment ago, I was able to log in to my.t-mobile.com on the Air, but after putting into my Bookmarks folder, I can't do it anymore. The Log in button comes up greyed out instead of green.
I'm also still having trouble with my bank's bill pay section on both computers too.
I wonder if it's related to the saving of the log in info or putting in the Bookmark Folder?

  • I can't access most .mil sites pretty sure I just need it to let me add the security exception but it doesn't give me the option anymore.

Ever since I got the last two updates for Firefox I can't access most .mil sites like ako or even the us army library Europe site. These sites use to come up as untrusted sites that I just accepted and continued life. However now it goes straight to server not found page. I know the site links and bookmarks are good because they are what I used to use. I've read some of the other help situations that are similar and I can see some of the old certificates in the advanced options up nothing I've done in there had changed anything.

To try to distinguish between a change in Firefox and a problem in your settings, could you do a three-minute experiment?
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
''Be careful not to delete anything in this dialog.''
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button, assign a name like Sept9, and skip the option to change the folder location. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
Do the sites work any differently?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

  • Can't access my banking site past the identification page,

Can't access my banking site past the identification page. I was getting a message in Firefox, that said "your security settings have changed.... (no they have not), and something about "resetting, Yes or No. I pressed yes, but still could not get in. I pressed NO, and the message has gone, but still can't access the bank. I can access through "Explorer, but not Firefox.

Nevermind, I figured it out myself

  • CS5.5 refusing to open, launch so can't access urgent old site that requires work upon it

Dreamweaver CS5.5 refusing to open, launch so can't access urgent web site created within it a while back that requires work upon it. CS4 not open/launch itself either? Therefore can't even export a site file to open up in a newer version but that won't run, support vital menu editing within it.

Try clearing the program cache and/or restoring preferences...
    Deleting a corrupted cache file
    Restore preferences | Dreamweaver CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6
If those don't work, you may need to reinstall using the Cleaner Tool. That won't affect your actual site files, but you would need to set-up the site definitions again within DW: Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • Can only access one web site

    Hello!
I am getting this error, but the above fix does not solve the issue, however I do know what has caused it.
I have an edmx file in a WCF webservice which feeds a silverlight app.  The edmx is quite complex and a bit fragile, but was working fine up until I introduced our Industry Codes view into the model.  The view is basically { ID, ParentID, Name, ... }.  In my model I have created an association to itself which describes Children(*)/Parent(0/1) so I have a nice and tidy hierarchical structure.  The edmx and the service build without any errors - hurrah!  However, when I update the service reference I then get the below error (and a whole load of others as none of the webservice objects exist anymore):
Error 21 Custom tool error: Failed to generate code for the service reference 'WCF_ContactAdmin'.  Please check other error and warning messages for details. X:\2008-054 ContactAdmin_Silverlight\Contact2_Admin_Silverlight\Service References\WCF_ContactAdmin\Reference.svcmap 1 1 Contact2_Admin_Silverlight
When I try the fix mentioned in the link above this error disappears, but then so do all the objects in the datamodel, so I cannot continue from there.
Having the hierarchical data objects defined in the EDM will make like so much easier in future, any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

  • Can't access some web sites with version 4.0

I recently installed version 4.0 and am in test phase of the server.
With or without ACL's turned on, I can't access the following web site
    https://www.sunnet.sunlife.com/member/signin/index.asp?
    or
    https://www.sunnet.sunlife.com/member/
In Internet Explorer, it sits on a blank page with the little world logo spinning around until it finally times out after a few minutes. I've tried accessing these sites with both IE6 and IE 5.5 and get the same problem.
As a footnote, the web access to these sites works fine with our current Web Proxy version 3.6.
Does anyone have any ideas why this isn't working through the new Proxy 4.0?
    Thanks

I did some additional testing through Proxy 4. All web sites and web pages including secure sites that I tried accessing over the past couple of days all appear to work fine with the exception of the forementioned sites. Access to these specific web pages (which I cannot currently access) are part of our day-to-day business requirements, and therefore will prevent me from using Proxy version 4.0 as our production proxy unless I can figure out why these web pages won't load, and how to fix the problem.
As an experiment, I tried to access these web pages through Proxy 4 with Mozilla FireFox and Netscape 7. None of these web browsers (including Internet Explorer) will bring up these web pages when going through Proxy 4. But bypassing the proxy or going through our v3.6 proxy works fine for these web pages everytime, and with all browsers. This leads me to believe that this web page access problem is not a browser specific problem, but something in Proxy 4 isn't processing the request to display the page properly.
As a reference, the web site in question is http://www.sunlife.ca. On the left hand side of the page go to "Sign In" then "Plan Members". Thats where the request hangs through Proxy 4 no matter which browser I use, including Netscape... but works perfectly fine with Proxy v3.6.
Can someone who is running a version 4 Proxy also please try to access the SunLife Members login page and see if it works or fails for you?
    Thanks

  • Can not access Server admin site

I can not access http://MYSERVER1:50000 site. I get error "The page cannot be displayed. The page you are looking for is currently unavailable.".
But I was able to access even yesterday. Could you tell me any possible problems and how to fix the error?
    Thanks!

    Hi Mike
That means your J2EE engine is not running...
Restart the engine, also check that the DB is up and running.

  • Can't Access Secure (HTTPS) Sites On One Account, FF or Safari???

    Hello Mac Fans
First let me say I'm new to Mac. On one account I can't access secures sites like I can in the admin account. This may be a function of rights but am not sure? All updates have been done.
I can't login to this forum, my MobileMe account or my bank for example. I had to change to my other account or gasp, use a PC to post this message.
I installed FireFox trying to isolate the problem to Safari but that didn't pan out, I can't get to HTTPS pages in FF either.
I turned off Little Snitch thinking I might have denied something by mistake but that didn't help. I checked the rules and found nothing that wasn't allowed.
Nothing was changed in the router. I just turned on Mac and it worked. The iMac is connected to the router via ethernet cable.
I've used the search function and tried a few things that have been recommended for others but they didn't help me. I went to the keychain and did a repair, although it didn't find any problem. I over rode a couple keys to always allow them (Apple site stuff) and I ran the disk utility to no avail.
For reference I will post the information for both Safari and FF.
    Safari:
Safari can’t open the page “https://support.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/ACAuthWeb.woa/wa/login?
    appIdKey=2ddbca23a85d20e5bf7478812379ae23&path=/login.jspa%3FsuccessURL%3D/index .jspa” because Safari can’t
establish a secure connection to the server “support.apple.com”.
Safari can’t open the page “https://www.mln'sbank.com/” because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server
    “www.mln'sbank.com”.
Safari can’t open the page “https://auth.apple.com/authenticate?service=DockStatus&realm=primary-
    me&returnURL=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5tZS5jb20vd28vV2ViT2JqZWN0cy9Eb2NrU3RhdHVzLndvYS93YS9 0cmFtcG9saW5l&destinationU
rl=” because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server “auth.apple.com”.
    FireFox:
    The connection was interrupted
The connection to support.apple.com was interrupted while the page was loading.
    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I've done a lot of snooping around on this forum and have ran out of ideas so now I must ask for help.
    Thanks

I think I may have found the problem. It's embarrassing to find it minutes after posting the message yet I tried to solve it off and on for three days! My brother who is a 20 year Mac user has been trying to help me too. I guess it's true what they say... sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. LOL
I turned off the parental controls. What I don't understand is that the no website restrictions box was checked. To me this means I should be able to go to any site I wanted. Can anyone explain why I couldn't got to a HTTPS page on a parental controlled account even though there were no restrictions placed on it?
It's late and I need sleep. I'll leave this open for now until I have more time to test it.
