Can't access any apps on iPad.

Can't access Apps, Dock or anything on iPad. My iPad only shows background pic and I can't even shut it down. I can access siri but it has done little good. I tried to see if syncing it up to my iMac would help but it did not. Anyone have this happen to them? Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the ipad to boot back up.

Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
I've also seen it suggested that people try downloading a free app from the store onto the iPad (as that seems to reset something), and then re-try the apps - the free app can then be deleted.

You have an iPad 1 which can only be updated to iOS 5.1.1. If the Apps in question require iOS 6 or later you won't be able to install them.

You do NOT need to restore your iPad.
I believe that the problem is that there is a disconnect with your iTunes account and your iPad. What you are experiencing is a somewhat common issue after you sync your iPad, update your device - it could be a number of reasons that are causing it. the recommended fix is to download another app in order to "reconnect" your ID and iTunes account to the iPad.
You can read more about it here. You will need a WiFi internet connection in order to fix it - or you have to be able to sync with your own iTunes library.
