Can't access certain website(s) now-

Has anyone else ever had trouble loading a website with Verizon wireless? I am having trouble loading two, these websites are linked. I have tried cleaning out my cache and bookmarks. The problem started when we had a prototype website done for us, and then the webmaster changed to a "new" website address for this. I cannot access the website with the new address, only the old one. I also cant directly access the linked to other website now. tMy wife can't access these website either, even though she has a PC and I have a Mac, so we thought it must be the ISP.

    Hi community,
We want this device trouble to fixed for everyone so every site can be accessed. This 890L device is a 4G product that has had a glitch found while connected to 3G. We have found that while connected to 3G service, these sites are all accessible. Can anyone confirm if this has been tested and verified to be the case? If so, we have a fix to get the 4G connection to have the sites work too. If this issue happens while on 3G as well then we need to open an investigation ticket for that specific line.
The fix for those that have access to the sites on 3G is below. Please follow the directions below to install a software patch onto their computer. This patch changes the default MTU size from 1500 to 1428 which is acceptable on the network without the need for fragmentation. Please use the appropriate link based on the operating system.
Windows based `Set MTU Size` tool: http://production.4510.verizon.mifiupdates.com/Windows/MiFi4510LSetMTU_Win.zip
Mac OS X based `Set MTU Size` tool: http://production.4510.verizon.mifiupdates.com/Mac/MiFi4510LSetMTU_Mac.zip
Linux based `Set MTU Size` tool: http://production.4510.verizon.mifiupdates.com/Linux/MiFi4510LSetMTU_Lin.zip
Once the zip file is downloaded, go through the below steps. Windows XP users will be prompted to do a reboot.
Unzip SetMTU_Win.zip
Double click on SetMTU.exe
Select value (default 1428)
Reboot is required on XP only
Please let us know if after this download the trouble persists.
Thank you,

    Hi, I'm having problems accessing certain websites. Certain websites are giving me the following error (in Firefox);
    "Connection Interrupted
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."
I get similar errors in the other browsers. I tried connecting to them via a proxy and it works. I also asked a friend to try and they work for him on Virgin, so definitely seems to be a problem with my connection.
I also got that error intermittently while browsing the forum here. One of the websites I can't access is mine, so it's getting annoying not being able to do stuff I usually do.
I have turned off/unplugged my home hub, but that didn't help.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

I did a traceroute on one of the websites that I can't access

  • Can't access certain websites with my new Linksys X3000 router

I installed a X3000 yesterday. I notice I can't access parts of certain websites - it seems to be just those parts of each site where a logon/password is required.
My wireless dongle on the same laptop works OK, so it seems to be a router problem?
    Help!!
    Regards
    John Hool

Enable cookies under Security and Firewall tabs on the router; just put a check mark on the box then save it.

  • Can't access certain websites

I have been having this issue for several weeks now and it is driving me crazy. There are several websites that I can no longer access from my MacBook, one example is www.pelicanparts.com The funny thing is that I can access these websites from 2 windows XP computers in my house. I can also pull it up if I launch the web browser from a Parallels for MAC guest OS session (Windows XP or Vista). It doesn't make sense. I am on a ATT yahoo DSL connection. I have a Linksys DSL router serving as DHCP server. All my computers, both Mac and Windows are configured as DHCP clients. I have even tried manually configuring a different ip address for the MAcBook with the same bad result.
Anyone out there have any suggestions before I pull out what's left of my hair?
Thanks in advance for saving my sanity.
    Oscar

I've found that many issues people are reporting around here are due to DNS issues. Are you at all familiar with DNS? Here is a brief run-down of what you might want to try:
The fix is to manually set the DNS settings, either on your computer, or on your router. The router is a better option because it will fix the problem for all computers on your network. There are many options for DNS addresses. Many people use 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 which are public DNS addresses. There is also a very popular, very feature-rich site called www.opendns.com which has DNS addresses with a lot of exciting features. Their addresses are: 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
To do this on your Mac: Go to system preferences --> select "network" --> choose your connection (airport or ethernet, whichever is having problems, or both, one at a time if necessary) --> click "TCP/IP" tab --> enter the two DNS addresses in the box titled "DNS Servers" --> Apply Now.
In your case, it sounds like doing this on the Mac itself is the best idea (since your other computers aren't having issues). Plus, if it's not the problem, at least it's easier to trial-by-error on the computer than the router. That being said, to do this on your router, log-in to the router and find the settings for DNS servers. Reference your users manual for the exact location.

  • I can't access certain website on the edge but can on wifi??

For some reason I can't access ilounge.com when I'm on the edge but I can when I am on wifi. Anyone else having this issue? How can I fix this?

    Hi pkw3tgw-
Here are the steps to reinstall Firefox and upgrade to the latest version:
    * Get the latest version: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
    * Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    * Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • After 10.9.4 update can't access certain websites from any browser

I just updated to 10.9.4 Saturday evening the 26th.   Sunday morning I noticed that I was unable to get to some websites but they worked from the ipad and other devices in the house so I rebooted thinking something odd was going on post update.   It happened again a few times until I realized a pattern.  I can not get to facebook, mail.google.com, google.com or most SSL only websites.  Sites that redirect you to an SSL URL just sit there until they eventually time out.  I can go to cnn.com but I can't load apple.com
if I try to go to bing.com which surprisingly doesn't force you to SSL it loads every time.   This is reproducible in SafarI, Firefox, and Chrome consistently.  Rebooting no longer resolves the issue and I couldn't even come here to post this from the iMac because the discussion website eventually forces you to use SSL. (Actually, while posting this that URL eventually appeared after a very long wait.  Other websites eventually time out entirely.  Safari fails to load Facebook at all)

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Can't Access Certain Website in either Safari or Firefox.

FYI, I have a G5 Power PC, 1.8 GHZ, operating Mac OS 10.5.4. My internet connectivity is wireless via Airport Extreme through Comcast modem. I have been unable to connect to Microsoft Office download page for updates. When attempting to connect using either Safari or Firefox, I get message "Safari can't open download.miicrosft.com because Safari can't find server...". I contacted Microsoft support for help. They said problem was that Comcast was blocking the port access. Comcast stated they do not block ports and that Airport Extreme may be blocking said port.
This is the only website that I have experienced any problems accessing. Does anyone have any ideas. I have searched the discussion forums, repaired permissions, etc., but have had no luck resolving this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mulder for clarifying Comcast's credibility.
I do not have any problem accessing the internet via Airport Extreme. I am only having trouble accessing this particular website. I initially contacted Microsoft Support for an explanation and help in gaining access to their download site. After I contacted Comcast, who told me they did not block any ports, Microsoft Support suggested that the problem was with Airport Extreme. Although I was doubtful of this proposal, I am trying to eliminate it as the source of my difficulties. Since 1) I have not had trouble accessing other sites, and 2) you informed me that Comcast DOES block ports, I am more inclined to believe the problem lies with Comcast and not with Airport Extreme.
Do you have any suggestions as to how I might get Comcast to unblock this port, in the face of their denying that they block ports?

  • Can't access certain website

    Hey there,
I'm using a MacBook Pro, and I have a slight problem that I can't seem to fix. I am using my laptop on a wireless network, and for as long as I can remember I haven't been able to access one particular website, even though the other computers on my network (both wired and wireless) can. Even when running Windows on my MacBook Pro through bootcamp, I am still unable to access it. I consistently get a page load error through firefox, as the server never responds.
I am using a Wireless-N Linksys router, and I have tried resetting the router and the modem several times, as well as using different browsers, but neither have solved the problem. I know how to access my router settings, but am unsure what I should change.
Any help I could receive on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks, Dylan

OK, there's nothing particularly unusual on that page, a bit of Javascript and Flash ...
Ahh, it loads fine in Safari but I get a Javascript error in Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 and the page fails to load, try an older version of Firefox or use Safari to view it ?

  • Can't access certain websites...Please Help!

Since my upgrade to Leopard, I can no longer access Versiontracker.com or Macfixit.com
I've checked the firewall and i don't see anything that would restrict access to these sites.
When i type versiontracker.com into my brower it just spins forever. Other sites are fine, but so far only these two don't work.
    Please help. Thanks!

As a workaround you can just use FireFox. It's been my main browser for years and works on every site I feed it. Safari has had many issues with many sites, especially secure sites, and I just got tired of Apple not dealing with the issues, the lack of extensibility and no real innovation. All of the FireFox extensions that I've tried, even if developed by windows programmers, work on the Mac version.
To be fair, Mozilla only has to make the browser work, not the iPhone.

  • Can't access some websites. Possibly DNS problem.

This problem only started to occur a couple of days ago. I found that I can't access certain websites, but all the other computers in exactly the same network environment have no problem accessing them. I tried changing my DNS server settings from the servers my ISP provided to the Google DNSs, 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4, and those websites I couldn't access before became accessible immediately, but some other websites, which I was able to access with the DNS provided by my ISP before, became inaccessible again. I tried using another set of DNS addresses, the same thing happened: some websites that I couldn't access before became accessible, but some others become inaccessible again. All these DNS servers that I used work perfectly on other computers in my network, so it has to be the problem of my computer. This has nothing to do with the browser, as all of the browers in my system have the same problem, even including the Internet Explorer in my VMware Windows virtual machine. I tried flushing the DNS cache with dscacheutil -flushcache, and it didn't work.
I'm using Lion 10.7.3 on MacBook Pro MC371. Please help!

Please give an example of a site you can't access now.

  • Can't access some websites - URL is hijacked by "unotelly" - ??

This has a virus-like feel to it... I can't access certain websites,. When I do, I'm bumped to a site for Untotelly.
    I type: www.bbc.co.uk
    And I go to:  http://quickstart3.unotelly.com/?origin=http://www.bbc.co.uk/
At the top of that page I'm asked to "please update your IP address"  (among other things) .. which I'm reluctant to do.
The question is: how do I stop this from happening?

I'd think that the DNS settings on your computer or router have been changed to unotelly's ones.

  • Unable to access certain websites and game servers when using E1500

I've been having a strange intermitent problem with my E1500 wireless router.  When we first bought and installed it everything was working well with no known problems.  After several months no one using the router was able to access certain websites as well as a game server that we play on.  No one had made any changes to the router settings and I assumed at first that it was an ISP problem.  After talking with our ISP tech support they finally suggested plugging my PC directly into the modem rather then the router.  I did and found that the websites and servers that previously wouldn't connect while using the router were now reachable.  As I said not myself or anyone else had made any changes to the router settings since installation.  I decided that just in case someone unauthorized had made changes to simply revert the router to factory settings and reinstall the software.  After doing this I found that I could again reach the websites and servers that I previously could not.  So time went on with no problems until a few months later when the same websites and servers were again unreachable by anyone on our router.  I again reset the router to factory settings and changed passwords as a precaution, but this time the websites and servers were unreachable even though I had just reset the router.  I'm a little confounded as to what could possibly be causing this.  I have had family and friends who live elsewhere use the websites and servers during all of my troubles, so I'm certain that they were not simply down.  I'd greatly appreciate any and all help.
A few of the places that are unreachable to me are as follows:
    http://wiki.project1999.org
    http://www.project1999.org
    http://chaoslife.findchaos.com

Perhaps, you could flash or update the firmware to the latest. Reset and reconfigure the router. You can download firmware here http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/E1500.

  • Leopard on a Digital Audio G4 - can't access certain sites

    Specs:
    Digital Audio PowerMac G4
    1.5GB RAM
    1.7GHz G4 Sonnet Encore/ST; previously 733MHz stock G4
    Leopard (10.5.8)
Network is controlled by a router running DD-WRT v24-SP2.
I am having a horrendous time trying to get this specific Mac to access certain websites - namely, anything to do with Google or Yahoo. I can't get to YouTube, I can't get to ANY Google site (including non-US domains), I can't get to Yahoo (or any of its services, like Flickr, del.icio.us, Zimbra, etc...)...obviously, this is getting a tad frustrating. I've been relegated to searching with Microsoft Bing for the time being...oh, the irony...
At any rate, I've tried flushing the DNS cache (dnscacheutil -flushcache), flushing the routing tables (route -n flush, route -v flush), assigning a new IP on my LAN, using other DNS servers (OpenDNS and Verizon), putting the machine in the router's DMZ, and sacrificing a kitten to the flying spaghetti monster.
None of these things have worked. I cannot figure out for the life of me what the problem is. It's not a DNS issue - I can ping google.com and it resolves it to an IP...of course, pinging fails since I can't actually connect to it. I've also tried connecting to other known good IPs for google.com.
I don't see this problem on any of my other Macs running OS 9, Tiger, and Leopard. I don't see it on any of my machines running Windows (XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, Server 2003). I don't see it on my iPhone or my boyfriend's iPhone. I only see it on this one machine, and it used to not be a problem. I'm going nuts trying to figure out what happened.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nope. In fact, here's a comprehensive list of what I've tried:
    using other DNS servers
    flushing the DNS cache
    flushing the routing tables
removing the ethernet interface and re-adding it
creating a new location in the networking preferences pane
installing an Airport card and using that instead of ethernet to connect to the network
setting up a static DHCP IP on my router (using MAC registration), releasing the old IP, and picking up a new one
putting the machine in the router's DMZ
trying tracert or ping to get to external domains and IPs
clearing out /tmp in case some temporary file(s) were causing a problem
setting up a new user account and logging in with it
There is something low-level in the system that's causing this problem. Trouble is, I have no clue what it could be. I'm right now downloading the combo updater in the total off chance that it will replace whatever corrupt file is breaking my Internet connection.
