Can't Access Gmail

Recently we restored iPhone 3G and were told by Genius Bar to restore as "New Phone" during sync. The Gmail acct should be primary on the Push function of iPhone but we've tried several times to install proper userid and password (which works ok at Gmail online) but not on iPhone Push mail. We keep getting an error msg that userid and/or password is incorrect. A few times it refers to imap.gmail.com password is incorrect. Pls help if possible.

Still having the same problem with Push mail. Have no problem when we go online to Gmail (using the iPhone Safari online). The settings in the iPhone 3g are exactly the same as the settings (password/userid) for Gmail online at the Gmail desktop "settings" page. Each time we try to access mail from the iPhone mail program it brings up an error message that the password is incorrect. We're stumped! This all started when we were having problems with the 3g and they restored it at the Apple Genius Bar and told us to go home and sync "as a new phone". I'm thinking that when we get home (currently out of town) we'll try syncing the 3g again with the desktop computer and perhaps these "glitches" will stop.

Thanks, but I tried that and was directed to set up a new password which I did. But, it still wouldn't let me go to my existing Gmail. I was asked to set up Gmail account. I also tried accessing my Gmail from Yahoo. Failed. Someone suggested setting up another Gmail address so that when you logged on it would ask you which Gmail to open. This didn't work and only made the problem worse. Google Help is no help. I guess the only way to access Gmail is with my iPad, but it just isn't right!

still can't access gmail or google docs (or google reader) over my airport extreme n.
all works fine on the desktop machine through the ethernet port on the base station.
any advice?

If it works through the Ethernet port on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) it probably has nothing to do with the AEBS. There must be something about the configuration of the computer connecting wirelessly.

I upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 and now I can't access gmail

I upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 and now I can't access gmail- it tells me that the connections to the outgoing server stmp.gmail.com failed. Additional outgoing mail servers can be configured in Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Anyone else have that problem? What should I do?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

How can i access gmail's smtp server using java mail api

i m using java mail api to access gmails pop and smtp service to receive and send mail from ur gmail account. I m able to access gmails pop server using the ssl and port 995 , but i can not use its smtp server to which i m connecting using ssl on 465 port. It requires authentication code.
if anybody can help me in this regard i m thnkful to him/her.

There is no problem with Gmail and iPad; I use it all the time.
Check to make sure that you have entered the correct information in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars for your Gmail account.

Downloaded ios7 today. Can't access gmail. Help!

I downloaded ios7 today and now I can't access my gmail. I've tried rebooting my phone, and deleting my gmail account and re-adding it. I'm getting an error message that says" imap.gmail.com" is not responding. Help!

I use Gmail myself and I seem to recall getting that message once. I'd delete any mail accounts on your phone, reset it - holding down the Sleep & Home keys until Apple Logo is displayed, then run the Mail App - it should present you with logos of various email providers now - if it doesn't there is an issue - if it does select Google and enter your details.

I've the same issue, it happens where ever I login to Firefox, work laptop or home laptop. One is Vista and the other Windows 7. I've had to use Chrome for gmail.

Can't access Gmail website

I can't access the gmail website: mail.google.com/mail. I used to be able to but not anymore.
I even downloaded Mozilla Firefox but even that won't open it anymore. I tried resetting Safari and emptying the cache but even that didn't work. I tried opening the gmail website on another computer through the same internet connection and it worked. So, I don't know what's up with my computer. If anyone's got the answer please reply. I am having the same problems starting today. The difference with me is I downloaded Mozilla and I could open Gmail. I'd prefer to open it with Safari, though, which I have been able to do for almost a year now! Why today? I did download then uninstall Symantec Internet Security 3.0. It seemed to cause my computer to slow down so I uninstalled and returned it. Could this be the culprit?

When i try to access gmail, with safari, i get this error:

Replaced 3G with 4G iphone, can't access gmail on phone

I just replaced my 3G iphone with a 4G - everything synched and transferred over. I have google authenticator and cannot access gmail on my phone without disabling the authenticator. When the authenticator is on and I try to get mail on phone, I have to go through putting in my email address and password and get the error "Cannot Get Mail The user name or password for "imap.gmail.com" is incorrect.

I feel like I've been given the keys to the PLAY GROUND!
I've dreamt of playing (let's pretend I want to get some work done!!) on one of these beasts for ever.
I will always use the DARK FORCES (read MS & GoGoGooGoogle) for some of my communications; especially emails... lol
I have tried to set the preferences so that I can "sync" gmail with icloud mail, but it is not obvious to me how I open gmail here.
Any help in see what I missed is appreciated & will be put to good use.

I use Outlook (not Mail) but here is a screen shot of my Gmail account set up:
Note that this is an IMAP account (which you can use in Mail as well). No need to override the incoming default port but you must use port 465 for the smtp server.
