Can't access iPhone 4 under My Computer via usb connection outside of iTunes

I have an 8 GB iPhone 4, which replaced a 16GB one that fell from the docking station last Christmas and won't come back on. I have avoided syncing the new one with iTunes since getting it because I don't want to lose all of the pictures I had on the old one, but now I can no longer access my pictures through "My Computer" when I hook my phone up via USB. When I turned on iTunes (for the first time since August of last year apparently), it says "Would you like to set up this iPhone as a new phone or restore all of your information from a previous backup?" I don't want to do EITHER. I want to access my pictures WITHOUT using an extremely time consuming third party app or getting rid of any of the previous or new existing pictures and other media. I have over 1,500 pictures on my 8GB phone and it isn't functioning very well. I need to get these off and onto my computer, and I'm quickly losing my patience. Please help.

Log your iPhone and your computer into the iCloud.
All your pictures will be sent automaticly into your photo stream.
Then you can just pluck them out on your computer.

  • I can't hook my phone to computer via USB

When I attach my phone to my PC... I get a USB error. The computer is not recognizing my phone. What can I do?

Assuming it is an S4, download the driver from here:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-I545ZKAVZW
    Install it.
    Restart your PC.
Now connect your phone to the PC. If it doesn't recognize the device, try a different USB port.
If that doesn't work, try another USB cable.

  • TS2776 iPhone 5, Outlook 2013, Windows 7.0 64-bit.  Every time I connect my phone to my computer via USB, iTunes opens with the "accept our terms and service" then deselects the boxes checked under the INFO tab to sync my calendars, contacts...help?

I am connecting my iPhone 5 to my Windows computer via USB.  This should open iTunes and start the sync process.  Instead of iTunes opening, I get the iTunes service agreement to which I must agree.  Then iTunes opens and begins to back up my phone.  It is syncing my photos and music (although the music thing is another nightmare), but under the "info" tab in iTunes, the boxes of which functions I want to sync are no longer selected.  Hence the computer and the phone are not sharing information.  When I select the functions I want to sync, I must either replace or merge.  If I replace, I lose the information I recently put into my phone.  If I choose to merge, then I have duplicates of everything.
How can I resolve this problem? Why is iTunes acting like it doesn't know my phone?
I'm using an iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.4, Windows 7 64-bit, Outlook 13, and the must current version of iTunes (because I've removed and reinstalled it twice already).
    Thanks for any help!
    Christine

After you'd run the Configure Classic instance did you run in the statement as stated in 'Oracle® Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) Part Number E10421-05'?
    java -classpath ORACLE_HOME_DIR\discoverer\lib\disco-config.jar;ORACLE_HOME_DIR\oui\jlib\OraInstaller.jar;ORACLE_HOME_DIR\opmn\lib\iasprovision.jar -Djava.library.path=ORACLE_HOME_DIR\oui\lib\win32 oracle.disco.install.config.DiscoUtil -oraclehome ORACLE_HOME_DIR -tnsadmin TNS_ADMIN_DIR
I've completed an installation with the same steps (although I ran the config.bat file in as_1/bin rather than from the program files list and also I've the jrockit jdk installed)
    I've found that this fails with the error;
INFO: This tool works only on Windows Platform. Exiting the program
Which is strange considering this is Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit
DISCO is running in the EM console but the URLs (as defined in the installation summary report) do not resolve properly. I was just interested to hear if you're installation was the same, this isn't the first installation I've done, they've all had a similar issue

  • HT1386 When I plug my iPhone into my iMac via USB I can choose to "back up to this computer".  On another sync to my iMac, can I choose to " back up to the iCloud"?  This way I could restore all my info and settings from either source.  Is this possible?

When I plug my iPhone into my iMac via USB I can choose to "back up to this computer".  On another sync to my iMac, can I choose to " back up to the iCloud"?  This way I could restore all my info and settings from either source.  Is this possible?

On the phone, under Settings > iCloud you can select to turn iCloud ON or OFF.
One iTunes, it senses that toggle and if you had selected iCloud it will say backup to iCloud. Here you can change the toggle to backup to computer and click "Apply" prior to syncing.
I do both for good measure. I backup to computer and then after i disengage the device from the computer, I set the iCloud toggle back to ON and then perform the iCloud backup over wifi.
I found that using iTunes and saying to backup to iCloud isn't always successful in the "last backed up" time and thus I do it separately.

Did you set up restrictions for changing account info in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them and try again to edit your mail account info.

  • How can i access my sons laptop computer to set up security if i don't know his password'

How can i access my sons laptop computer to set up security if i don't know his password?

If you have your own admin account on his computer, then you don't need to access his account.  However, what type of security do you mean?  If you mean network security then that is done in the router, not the computer.  If you are referring to Parental Controls those need to be configured via an admin account - either his or yours.

  • Can I use iPhone without a computer?

So I have a mac with 10.3.9 which doesn't support iphone (10.4.x onwards only i believe) - If I get an iphone can I use the phone function, wi-fi for mail and internet etc without connecting it to a computer at all? I DL'd the manual and it tells you as one of the first steps to connect to your computer via USB and register it. Is this essential? To use the phone in any way at all do you have to register it?
I'm happy to go to a friend's house with a compatible mac eventually and load some mp3s and videos or whatever on to it but would like to know if I can just use the thing as a phone first without needing a computer at all.

    Oh man.
Yes I own a powerbook. My reasons for not being able to use it are... I use Avid editing software on it. If I upgrade to the latest version of OS X, or even an earlier one like 10.4.x then I will have to upgrade my Avid - that costs money that I don't have. It works well on my 10.3.9 and I've been happy with this. Until now it seems.
In order for you guys to be helpful to me here we'll all have to pretend that we aren't proud nerds that secretly wish we could control our cars from our phones (this includes me so don't be offended).
Pretend for a second that the iPhone isn't the best thing since sliced bread and can do almost anything and pretend that some people might be happy setting it up and just using it without updating it's software all the time and just treating it like they've treated all their other phones - as a phone.
You all have answered me like I should know better than to suggest I might try to keep my iPhone use simple. I bet Apple themselves aren't comfortable with anyone suggesting that the iPhone needs to suckle at the teat of a computer every day just to keep working! If that really was the case then surely this phone would unusable for any extended trips away from home - going on holiday for a week to Brazil would be out because your iPhone can't survive without being synced! Come on!
All I want is to set it up and use it unaided. Is this possible in the first instance, straight out of the box with no computer.

  • On an iPad with iTunes, do you know if you can edit/delete all your tunes on your device with a "clear all" button rather than having to delete a song one by one like you have to do on an iPhone if not synching via a MacBook/ PC with iTunes account?

I'm signed up to the Cloud and itunes match - the whole game. But I cam getting annoyed with having to delete songs one by one on my iPhone once dowloaded from the cloud as I only have a 16GB phone....yes I listen to music non-stop!  So, I am thinking about getting an iPAD as I rarely use my MacBook Pro for anything other than surfing and music now...  so the question is:  "On an iPad with iTunes, do you know if you can edit/delete all your tunes on your device with a "clear all" button rather than having to delete a song one by one like you have to do on an iPhone (if not synching via a MacBook/ PC with iTunes account where I know you can clear down and refill with ease)????

    Have you tried
    Settings > General > Usage > Music > Edit > Delete

Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
You can purchase Snow Leopard by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion

  • Can't access IBM mainframe 3270 session via SSL self-signed cert.

Can't access IBM mainframe 3270 session via SSL self-signed cert since sometime last week. Using Mochasoft tn3270 lite on android works fine but iPad ios7 says "IBM mainframe has closed the session".  Any clues would be appreciated.

I'm thinking the problem may be the IBM cert is 1024 bit. Investigating choices to implement 2048 bit cert into IBM.

  • HT4906 I have upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion and updated Iphoto to latest, however, I still can not access photos sent to me via photo stream. what else do I need to do? I'm $30 into this effort, and no results!

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.  Then log back in and re-enable, respectively.  That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • Can't access ipod photos on computer

I can't access my ipod photos on my computer. the usb connecter seems to be working fine, its can charge my ipod and i can still sync music and stuff with it but i've noticed that the "autoplay" option (to ask to open device, import photos etc) no longer pops up when i connect it (even though all control panel options on hardware and sound -> auto play has all devices on "ask me every time"). I've also found out when i do connect my ipod, i cant find it on the computer (device with removable storage etc). i have an ipod touch, iOS 6.0. i've tried restarting both computer and ipod with no luck...

There have only been 4 things that i've done before this happened:
    1. i've taken 1000 more photos
    2. i've synced my old songs to my ipod which made me have to transfer purchases and use a different apple ID
    3. i attempted to update both my iOS software and itunes but it didn't work
    4. i installed snapchat recently (only app i've installed within the last 3 months)
there are photos in my camera roll. i've tried using the photo management software on my computer (windows 7) but it says that my device is not there and now, whenever itunes reads my device, it stops responding. itunes and iOS software is not up to date. i tried updating (as previously said) but failed. I've tried using a different computer and a different usb connector but it can never sense my device anymore. I used to backup my photos every month and delete most of them. I'd rather not send 1000 photos to myself to save them, unless i really have to.
do you think i should delete snapchat?
