Can't access Itunes Library in Front Row

Well I sure am confused. I downloaded a TV show from Itunes last night, but could not access it from Front Row. Then I noticed that I cannot access any of the music in my Itunes library from Front Row. It simply is not listed. The only thing that is listed is "Itunes top TV Episodes". The only way I have been able to access stuff is putting it in my movies folder in the sidebar of my Finder window. Shouldn't I be able to access something I download from Itunes instantly, without moving the file anywhere?
Another weird thing is when I went to Finder>Help and typed in "Front Row" it said no results found. Other threads in this forum lead me to believe that there is a manual built in to the computer. Mine is hidden or gone somehow?
PLEASE HELP!!!!! I love my macs, but this kind of stuff drives me nuts!
I have Front Row 1.0
Itunes 8.2.1
OS X 10.5.7

Switched it to manual , all's OK . Thanks

  • Looking for  a way to access iPod Library via Front Row

I am looking for a way to browse my iPod library in Front while my iPod is connected to my computer.
    Does anyone know the trick?
iMac Intel Duo Core   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iPod

All of my music is backed up on an external hard drive connected by FireWire to my desktop PC. I have enabled Share Music so that when I open iTunes on my iMac, I am able to access all the music on my external hard drive wirelessly. If I highlight the shared music in the Source column and then turn on Front Row, I have access to all the music on my external hard drive (wirelessly) through the remote control. I would imagine that since the iPod appears in the Source column when it's properly docked, you should have access to it through Front Row.
I don't know if this will help, but good luck!

  • Parental controls: iTunes library and Front Row

I'm trying to set up parental controls in iTunes on my media centre Mac, which is a PowerMac G4 MDD and so can't run Snow Leopard. I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.8, iTunes 9.2.1 (5) and Front Row 2.1.7 (309).
I'm using a managed account which allows Front Row and iTunes. Within iTunes I have set the parental controls so that only films rated U are allowed. This works for shared content and the iTunes store (as noted in the preferences) but doesn't affect movies in the iTunes library. For example, Alien is rated 15 but still plays in both iTunes and Front Row. Is there any way to restrict this behaviour?
BTW, I've used MetaX to tag movies that I've added to the library myself (i.e. not through the iTunes store) - this works well: other Macs using iTunes see the rating in the shared version and restrict it from being played. However, it can still be played on the host Mac.

    Fixed in Snow Leopard

  • Can't access iTunes Library on a shared drive

Here is my problem: I want to access my iTunes library from a shared drive.
    Here is my equipment:
    1. Imac running iTunes 10.6
    2. 1 week old Macbook Air running iTunes 10.6
    3. 1 Timecapsule that is 1 day old, bought with the express purpose of putting my extensive iTunes library on it, and was assure I would be able to stream it.
    4. An Airport express hooked to my stereo.
The concept was that the Air doesn't really have the capability to hold all my music, but I want to use it as a "remote" to select songs through iTunes and play them on my stereo.
I did NOT want to leave my iMac on at all times and do homes haring that way.
Therefore, I followed intructions fonund else where and moved my iTunes library from my iMac to the newly installed shared drive on the Time Capsule.
I went into iTunes on the Air selected preferences, advanced, and changed the location of the Air's iTunes library to that of the one on the Time Capsule. It sees all the music. I close preferences.
What happens? Nothing. None of the music is listed on the Air
I've gone over this again and again, and this SHOULD work. What am I missing here? Should I take the Air and the Timecapsule back to the store?

Uh, I fear you followed some wrong directions. This is what you should have done:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
do not confuse moving your whole folder and library with moving just media files as in
iTunes for Mac: Moving your iTunes Media folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1449
It sounds as if in part at least this is what you did, at least when you say you are going to preferences and changing things.
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.  Do this with both computers if the shared library file is on the external drive.
Note, the file can only be in use by one computer at a time.  You will have to quit iTunes on one computer before opening it on another.

  • Can't Access iTunes Library on a Different Disk, but Same Computer

In order to avoid conflicts, I installed FCP X on a separate start-up disk and kept FCP Studio on its original start-up disk.  Since FCP X is now on a different start-up disk, however, I can no longer access my iTunes Library from within it and the music I already own.
How is the best way to gain access to the Library?  Is there a way to set a pointer to it?  Does it have to be duplicated in its entirety and moved to the new start-up drive?  What is the process I need to follow?
    Any help appreciated.

  • Can't access iTunes Library through iPhoto

    Hi,
Since I've updated iTunes to 10.5 I can't access it's library using iPhoto. I've created a Slideshow in iPhoto and as I tried do add some music to it iPhoto tells me to run iTunes so it can access its music, yet itunes was actually running and there is no way to access its library through iPhoto.
Futhermore I used to use iTunes albums cover arts as a screen saver. Now I've got a black screen saver with the message that no cover art is present in iTunes though ALL of the present albums have their cover and it perfectly worked before updating to 10.5.
I'm running Lion OSX and also use Beatunes and Tangerine to complete my iTunes library.
Has somebody had the same problem? What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks for any help!

Doesn't play songs purchased on iTunes either,
probably because of the copyright infringement
    issues.
It does. You'll need the latest version of iTunes
and the latest version of Quicktime for this
    to work.

Gotcha! It's the QT holding me up them. I have QT Pro and I don't want to update because then I have to PAY again for the Pro part. I learned that the hard way. What a rip off on their part for the users of their Pro version.

  • On the ipad2, can I access itunes library without first opening the Itunes store

I commute with an IPad2 and there are times I cannot pick up an Internet connection. Is there a desktop shortct that would let me get into the Itunes Library without going through the Store, which will not open when there is not Internet connection? That way I could play songs already on the Ipad without depending on an Internet connection.

I'm a little confused by the wording of your question. You appearnto be talking about your iPad but mention the desktop and accessing your iTunes library through iTunes which sounds as if you're talking about your computer. On your iPad, you access any of your stored music that you have downloaded or synced throughout the iPod app, not the iTunes store. It doesn't require an Internet connection.

  • Can't access itunes library on new computer???

We recently purchased a new Mac computer. Prior to this all of our music for Itunes was stored on our external hard drive. Now...when we put the external hard drive on the new computer..we cannot access any of the libraries on itunes.  If you plug in a device all of the music/apps etc show up, but when you just open the computer up and click on itunes...we have nothing in the library.
So confused on what to do...does anyone know?

I had my itunes library on an external drive, I now have a new Windows 7 computer. How can I access my library?

    Hello, robertfromboulder city.
Thank you for the question.  You can direct iTunes to read your media off your external drive.  To do this, follow the instructions below.  See the section in the first article labeled Discovering and changing the iTunes Media folder location.

  • After an iTunes update I can't access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file

After an iTunes update I now. Can't  access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file. Any ideas how to rectify this?

Your iTunes Library.itl file will normally be at C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. If it isn't there should it be somewhere else (you ought to know if you deliberately moved it) or is there a Previous iTunes Libraries folder containing backups made during iTunes updates.
