Can't access iTunes store after installation

I've just installed itunes for Vista, and have used it on this machine previously. I never used it much and uninstalled it a couple years ago.
I just installed iTunes again and the install ran fine, but when it tries to access the iTunes store it just sits and never connects. I've uninstalled everything according to the instructions in Support, then restarted the computer and reinstalled iTunes again with no luck. What's the problem here?

Well, first I'd ask if you have confirmed that Internet is in fact working on the phone? Do you have WiFi enabled and can you connect to the Internet with other apps on the phone?

Same issue. I emailed apple and they had me call apple. Not really any help. Did all the troubleshooting listed and to have further help diagnosing problems it isn't free. You may think you are connected to the internet, but maybe not. Click on Safari and see if it connects.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

If you look at the feed, and look at the entry 'The end to an exciting field season in Aulavik National Park' you will see the line:

You have not closed the 'pubdate' tag - there should be a '>' as the 9th character. Because the tag has been left open, it invalidates everything which follows it, and thus the entire feed. iTunes therefore cannot read it, which is why the Store has not updated. Add the '>' and republish, and all should be well.
It's always worth checking your feed by subscribing manually, from the 'Advanced' menu, or by clicking the 'subscribe free' button on the Store page (both do the same thing) - if you can subscribe to the feed it should be OK.
