Can't access Mail Preferences

Help - I am trying to switch internet providers and having issues with email change.
My mail program will not let me open preferences. It appears to be having issues with my password.
How can I get into preferences to change these accounts??

-Mail 3.6, the one that has a stamp icon
I believe that all versions of Mail use that stamp icon. Version 3.6 is the version that comes with OS X 10.5.8.
When I click on Preferences now, nothing happens.
So in Mail, you click on the Mail menu item, the Mail menu list drops down, but when you click on "Preferences...", nothing happens? That's very strange. Does anything useful happen when you use the keyboard shortcut command (apple)-comma? Have you done anything else that might affect file permissions?
You might also use the Keychain Access utility to delete any existing passwords for Mail to see if that allows you to give Mail the correct password.

  • I took Lion off my Macbook Pro and put Snow Leopard back on and now I can't access Mail or iPhoto. How do I get Mail and iPhoto to work with the Snow Leopard I just put back on?

Hi. I was having slowness problems with my Macbook Pro and thought I would re-install Lion but put Snow Leopard back on by mistake. I bought the computer used with Lion on it and don't have access to the USB drive or a username/password to reinstall Lion. Now I can't access Mail or iPhoto since I put Snow Leopard on.
Is there a way to get my Mail and iPhoto working again with Snow Leopard or do I have to "re-upgrade" to Lion?
    Thanks!
    Steve

You can't. When you converted those libraries to Lion's format, you lost the ability to go backwards. Unless you saved a bootable backup./clone or Time Machine backup of your previous SL installation, you're up the proverbial creek w/o a paddle.

  • HT1338 What's going on with iCloud (MobileMe)?  I'm able to sign in here, but I can't access mail on my Macbook Pro, iPhone, or work computer.  I always get an authorization error (user-id or passwork wrong).  This has been going on for almost a week now.

The single download means that you won't be able to redownload it from the store without paying, either on a computer's iTunes or an iOS device - it doesn't stop you from copying the audiobook to your other computers or syncing it to your iOS devices, you just can't redownload it. (I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time download.)
You can download audiobooks on your computer's iTunes and sync them to iOS devices, you do not have to buy them directly on the device (if you do then you can copy them back to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the device and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option on your computer's iTunes).
What you are doing to sync them should work i.e.
    - connecting the iPad to your Mac
    - selecting the iPad on your Mac's iTunes
    - selecting its Books tab and selecting the audiobooks that you want to sync to the iPad and syncing/applying that selection.
You should then get an audiobooks option in the Music app on your iPad. If they aren't appearing there  then do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music on the device - if you have audiobooks on the iPad then they should be listed there under an 'audiobooks' heading.
By 'restart the iPad' do you mean a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
You could also try closing its Music app via the iPad's taskbar : Force an app to close in iOS.
And do a soft-reset and retry syncing.
I assume that music and other items sync ok ?

can't access mail - getting message the connection to the server has timed out

    Hi mtc,
    Has it worked before?
Are you running any anti virus apps?
If using a browser to login via WebMail, does that work?

  • I can't access Calendar Preferences

I set up my new iMac using Time Machine (on hard drive from my G4 and Mac 10.5.8)
All worked well except that it was set up with one of two Apple ID accounts - the one I used for my .mac mail account.
Unfortunately my other Apple ID account (my Itunes account) is where I synched calendars, contacts, etc. So I managed to switch the iMac to the other Apple ID and all is now synched.
However, I'm notified that I can't use iCloud storage which seems to be linked to the first account.
Also, unlike all other programs - when I try to access Calendar Preferences nothing opens!
Is this a common problem when someone has two Apple ID's??

    Hello GfCT,
Turning of your Wi-Fi should prevent this message from appearing, allowing you to open preferences in Calendars and remove the offending account.

I need help. I have reset my iphone. I have turned it off then on. Still can't launch my built in mail app from home screen. When I try it goes to blank page then right back to home screen view.
In settings for the iphone 4s I can not access Notes or Mail, Contacts,Calendars. When I tap either of the two they highlight in blue and then go right back to Home Screen view. I seem to be able to access everything else in settings with no trouble.
From home screen I have no trouble I can launch the built in utility Notes with no problem. I also can launch Calendars from Home Screen view. My Contacts are still reachable by tapping Phone from H/S view then clicking on contacts.
I can not launch mail. nor can I send email. Also the built in mail app is not showing it is recieving mail either. All else seems fine.
I can log in to my email from Safari on iphone and from my laptop with no problem.
Anyone have any suggestions?  My iphone is out of warranty. Apples only suggestions are To pay for support.
    Thanks in advance

Just had a thought....was trying to rememberif anything changed last night. I think I installed a mac OS X Security update. That's about the time the trouble started. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • How do I set up the magic trackpad when I can't access System Preferences

Bought a new iMac and Magic Mouse.    After initial installation, decided to swap mouse for the Magic Trackpad.
Trackpad is turned on but I am unable to access System Preferences since my iMac was paired with the Magic Mouse.  I don't have another USB mouse to complete the pairing.  Any suggestions?   Thank You.

    Nancy,
If you have the bluetooth icon in the menubar, you can reach that and open bluetooth preferences by
pressing FN CNTL F8.  This will move focus to the right side of the menubar, then arrow across and down to get to the options you need.  Press the spacebar for "enter".

  • Can't access mail in .mac program

Please help!!! As of 2 days ago, when I go to mac.mail program, I can't access any mail in inbox. I can go through the apple/mac program to see my mail. When I go into mail, it just shows an empty box. I can't get into any of the other folders either. And when I want to close mail, I have to force quiet. Any suggestions? I am sitting here in Yemen and have no access to Apple help.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

I don’t fully understand what you say. What are the “mac.mail” and the “apple/mac” programs? Are you saying that you have a .Mac account and that it works fine on the web, but Mail has some problems? Or do you mean something else?
How many mail accounts do you have what type are they (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?

  • Can't access mail, contacts, calendar tab will not open

Frustrating...

    Hey Paul,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. There are two options to assist with the issue, Reset All Settings or backup and restore the device and setup as new.
To Reset All Settings on the device: Settings > General > Reset All Settings
If you need to restore your iPad, the following article will assist with this.

  • After upgrading my ipad 2 to iOS5 I can't access mail, contacts, calendars option

    Hi All,
Newbie here so please go easy!
My problem is that after upgrading my iPad 2 to iOS5 I can't access the mail, contacts, calendars option from general settings or even from the Mail program.  This is therefore preventing me from setting up anymore than one e-mail account.
Do I need to do a system reset / restore?  If so how do I do a system reset in particular?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Thanks for reply. Sorry for delay in responding, for some reason I wasn't able to respond using my iPad so am using my iPhone.
The restrictions have not been enabled at all, so I assume that this should not really make a difference. I also have an iPhone 4 and have upgraded this to iOS5 but have no issues accessing the Mail, Contacts, Calendar option from general settings. This also does not have restrictions enabled therefore appears to have the same setup as my iPad but with no problems.
Sorry once again for the delay in responding.
    Many thanks

  • Ipod touch Mail Blank Screen- can't access mail

    Hi,
When I try to open mail on my ipod touch, it opens a blank/black screen (still with the grey bar at the top with the time) but never comes up with the inbox or any menus to interact with (can't access my mail).
I recently added another imap account. Does it have troubles with too many messages or otherwise- surely it would say that rather than staying on a blank screen.
    Any thoughts?

Have you tried resetting your ipod by holding the Home & Sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo?

  • Can't access mail signature

Recently upgraded from Tiger to Leopard but I can no longer change my Mail signature.
I going into mail > preferences, but there isn't an option for signatures. Have they hidden this elsewhere? Help tells me to go into mail preferences and click on "signature" but I only have "default e-mail reader", "check for new mail", "new mail sound" etc
    Where am I going wrong?

You don't have the icons across the top of the Preferences window? General, Accounts, RSS, Junk Mail, Fonts & Colors, Viewing, Composing, SIGANTURES, Rules? Look again. They are there.
