Can't Access my MacBook Pro

So this morning I opened my MacBook Pro like a do every morning and was greeted with a prompt asking for my username and password. However, the problem is, is that I didn't know my username. It had never asked me for a username, so I didn't know it. I tried everything I knew and it still wouldn't let me in.
So off I went to my good friend Google. i ended up going into single-user mode and typing in several variations of code attempting to reset my password and/or allow my admin access into my computer. However, after tat was not successful, I simply tried to reboot my computer and guess the username again. After I rebooted my computer, it showed me the video of OS X, the one that happens when you first turn on the MacBook Pro. Then I had to run through the initial setup entering information. After that had been done, I had "A Few More Questions" and was asked "Where would I primarily use the computer" and "What best describes what I do". After answering those questions and pressing Continue, it goes to the next page which is blank. It then sits there and hangs there for an indefinite amount of time, doing nothing. Why is it doing this and how can I fix my computer?
Please note that I do not have the OS X installation disk and would prefer not to have to buy it. If it is at all possible to fix my computer without the installation disk, that would be great. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Kolaz, and a warm welcome to the forums!
You need to Repair the Disk at the very least, & I suspect do an Archive & install, but you simply have to have the Install Discs.
Call Apple with it's Serial# handy, they usually have replacement Discs for relatively cheap S&H.

  • Can I wake my Macbook Pro from Sleep with the Remote app on the iPhone?

I can't access my Macbook Pro remotely, specially after several hours of inactivity,, whenever I try to access content of my library through the remote app or the Apple TV I'm unable to wake my Macbook Pro up.
My Macbook Pro is 2012 model (the last with de CD Drive) and it's running the Maverick OS, my questions are:
    * I'm unable to find the "Unable Power Nap while plugged" option on the energy saver tab... is that because the model of my laptop doesn't support that?
    * In order to access content from my library remotely, should the "Computer Sleep" option on the energy saver be on "Never" instead of the "1 hour" that I'm currently using... or is there a way to still be able to wake up the laptop with those settings

Do you have a Bonjour Sleep Proxy server on your network?
<About Wake on Demand and Bonjour Sleep Proxy>
If you do not have a Bonjour Sleep Proxy server on your local network, then you cannot allow your Mac to go to sleep at all.  System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Computer Sleep -> Never (slide all the way to the right).

    I already checked that one.
I'm baffled, especially since it will usually give you the Invalid user name or password entered message. I'm not getting that. Instead the password field just jiggles back and forth. Very odd.

  • I need to access my MacBook Pro from Berlin with my MacAir book

    Hello and thank you advance
I need to access my MacBook Pro which is in London from Berlin with my MacAir Book.
I bought the app SERVER on recommendation from a One to One trainer but I am now told I need a Static IP and not a dynamic one. For me to change to a Static IP means going to a Business Account with BT and it is VERY expensive for my needs.   How can I access my laptop from Berlin please??? I live in London and have BT Infinity there.  The app Server does not indicate I need a Static IP when buying it. Do I need to buy something else?  dare I say that I could access my previous ..."windows" laptops without any problem?..... can anybody help me? I am an opera critic,NOT an expert... sorry......  Both Laptops run Yosemite and are about three years old.

You can't use the Mac OS X disc that came with another computer to upgrade another Mac because it's not supported. Buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
You shouldn't lose data, but you must make a backup before

  • HT1338 How can I upgrade my MacBook Pro from OS X 10.5.8 to most recent Operating System ?

How can I upgrade my MacBook Pro from OS X 10.5.8 to most recent Operating System ?
I just bought a Ipad Air and realized than my MacPro does not support Icloud.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion or Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.

  • Windows laptops can't connect to Macbook Pro shared internet when WEP security is on

As the title states, my Windows laptops can't connect to Macbook Pro shared internet when WEP security is on.  My iPhone has no problem asking for the password when I try to access the shared internet my MacBook Pro on Mountain Lion is sending, but my Samsung Slate on Windows 8 sees the network and only succeeds in connecting when no password is required.  When security is on, it just tries for a moment and says it can't connect to the network without ever prompting me for the password.  The same thing occurs on my Asus Netbook running Windows XP.  Since all the reviews about OS X's internet sharing mentions "any wifi device" can access it, I haven't assumed it's only compatible with Apple products.  I want my MacBook Pro to save me from needing an external router.

I would post a new question, outline the specific problem you are having and skip all the extra. Outline any steps you have taken already to try and solve the problem. Post the question in the forum most likely to have followers who can answer your question. Give your topic a good title such as: My MacBook Pro cannot connect to my WEP-enabled PC.
Provide any hardware information that may be relevant such as the make and model of your router and method of connection - wired or wireless.
I'm no authority, but have you tried using WPA2/Personal on your PCs? This method is most compatible with Macs.
If the WEP password is a hexadecimal password then on the Mac you need to preceed the number with a $ sign or the hex digits, 0x.

  • Is it possible to remote-access my MacBook Pro away from home?

Is it possible to remote-access my MacBook Pro away from home?
    What I currently have:
    Late-2011 MacBook Pro 8,2 (OSX Mavericks 10.9.5)
    2.5ghz Intel i7 quad-core
    16gb RAM, 1024gb SSD raid-0 (internal)
    Connecting to the internet through:
Apple Time Capsule 2TB (via ethernet)
    +
Time Warner Cable "Ultimate 100" (top speed)
I would basically like to be able to have my MacBook Pro on *at home* and connected to the internet via ethernet to the Apple Time Capsule.. and then be able to somehow connect and log in to my MacBook Pro, either through another computer or preferably, my iPhone 5s..
Mostly just interested in having accessibility to be able to make downloads, such as magnet links, while away from the computer.. and basically be able to come home to mostly finished or complete downloads.. Basically like how you can DVR/TiVo things from your iPhone and have it sync with your DVR/TiVo while away from home..
    Is this possible? Thank you!!

    Yes you can do this.
I would suggest you start with TeamViewer.com (free for personal use).
You will need to install TeamViewer on your Mac AND your iPhone.
The Mac version will need to be configured for unattended remote access.  You should practice before you leave the home.
There are other iPhone apps that can remotely access a Mac.  A lot depends on whether they can get past the home NAT router.  Be careful of apps that provide VNC access, but do not provide a way to get past the home router.  If you try one of these, make sure you test it away from your home WiFi network.

  • Can i return my macbook pro after 5 months

can i return my macbook pro after 5 months

If you bought it direct from Apple, you have 14 days to return it for a full refund or toward the purchase of a different model.
After that time, if it is broken it can be repaired. If it does not suit your needs and cannot be upgraded to suit your needs, you recourse is to convert it to CASH by selling it, and apply the cash toward a computer that better suits your needs.

  • Can´t connect my macbook pro to apple tv

I can´t get my MacBook pro to connect apple tv.How to do?

    Hey Jonas!
Depending on how you want to connect your computer to your Apple TV, I have a couple of articles for you that can help answer your question. First, if you have OS X Mountain Lion on your MacBook Pro, this article about AirPlay Mirroring will help you understand some of the options available to you with that feature, and at the bottom of the page is a link to instructions for setting up AirPlay Mirroring:
About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404
You can also have your iTunes Library connect to your Apple TV through a feature called Home Sharing, more information on which can be found here:
    Understanding Home Sharing

Hope that helps you understand some of the options available to you for connecting your MacBook Pro to the Apple TV. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

    Hi,
I want to use my macbook pro (mid 2012) screen as an external display for a raspberry pi using a HDMI to Thunderbolt cable, via the thunderbolt port on the macbook pro. Would this be possible? Can the macbook pro's thunder bolt port act as an input and is any additional software required?
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You are referring to Target Display mode. Target Display mode can only be used in 27-inch iMacs and iMacs with Thunderbolt, not MacBooks Pro > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
Unfortunately, you can't use the MacBook Pro as a display. It doesn't support the monitor mode

Can I run my MacBook Pro Late 2008 without battery forever? Is it bad in long term or anything? Does it make the system less stable?
My battery got swollen (and I unfortunately noticed it very late and might have be running with it for months, which potentially explains all the crashes everyday and the trackpad not working anymore, the Apple test also says I have a bar of ram broken...) and I had to remove it because the back pannel did not close anymore... Can I still use my MBP normally forever that way? I was planning on buying a new mac anyway but maybe waiting for the next iMac upgrade in the year... Should I wait?

Other than the system shutting down instantly if you have a power outage, whcih could corrupt the OS. Nothing else bad will happen.
