Can't access my own website and manage it using Safari!! Very annoying! _

If anyone can help me or give me an answer that would be great and highly appreciated! I am new to Mac!!!
I am having trouble accessing my own online shop as Safari doesn't support Java Script or something like that (i know nothing about it)? I can see it but once logged into the site to manage it, the buttons wont click (am I making sense?)
Even accessing Ebay is giving me trouble as well!!! Like I can't see what I am posting and how it looks in Ebay when writing up the description!! I have to use either Firefox or IE on another computer to write them and post them. I am really getting mad!!!! Can someone give me a solution??
Please I need help desperately!!

Hi
Welcome to Apple Discussions and Mac Computing
Safari does support Javascript. However, it's possible the coding for your Online shop is using a version of JS not compatible with Safari and possibly the Mac Platform.
To be sure Safari is set up to access JS content, go to your Safari Menu (next to the Apple logo in the upper left of your monitor)>Preferences (a short cut for preferences for most applications is pressing the Command and , keys). When Safari Preference opens, click on the Security panel (if you don't see multiple panels listed, click on the small pill button in the upper right of the Preference panel). Make sure the 4 WebContent boxes are checked.
Try your web site. If no success, post the URL of your web site here and I'll be glad to try it.
eBay is a different story. The site is not the friendliest for Safari due to their odd approach to site coding, especially for Sellers. From what others have posted in this forum, using Firefox is a better alternative when listing/posting product.
Safari is quite strict about following industry standards promulgated by the Web Standards Project. In part, this endeavor strives to create uniformity and better security on the Internet through specific guidelines for site coding.
Unfortunately, sloppy coding practices exist on some sites, creating functional challenges for browsers. Also, as Microsoft's Internet Explorer is used by a majority of PC owners (certainly not because it's a quality product), some web developers tend to code sites specific to IE without considering whether other browsers can render the content. Besides being very short-sighted, this type of work devalues the use of the Internet as a viable and secure structure for communication and commerce.
The good news about owning a Mac is the lack of viruses, spy and malware, and poorly constructed operating systems such as Windows Vista and XP. Working around Mac-bias, when encountered, is the primary challenge.

And it all worked fine until I updated to Lion.
Any help you can provider would be very helpful.  My host is claiming they can access it fine so they aren't able to help.  They verified my IP isn't blocked on their end.
And I can access it straight away in Safari.Do you have any anti-virus or third party programs, especially secrity related installed?

  • Can't Access My Own Website when using TMobile phone as Modem

I am using my Nokia 5310 as a bluetooth modem through TMobile on my MacBook. When I try to access my own website, it redirects me to a address that says, "Great Success! Apache is working on your website..." and so on. However, when I disconnect the modem and use my airport bluetooth connection I can get to my site immediately. I've tried rebooting my MacBook, pulling the battery out of the phone, refreshing the browser, emptying the cache, all to no avail. I called Tmobile and got their "Tier 3" people who said it's not from their side but could not give me any real reason it's doing this. They reconfigured my settings to see if that would work but it didn't.
I can access all other sites but my own website. I tried Firefox and got the same conclusion.
If it's the computer why would I be able to get to my site when I use my airport? If it's the phone, why would I be able to access the site through the web browser on my phone?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this problem? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi halacious, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Airport & Bluetooth are two separate Interfaces, so that is a bit confusing.
Where is this Website hosted? Locally on your own machine, or on the Internet?
    Any Router involved there?

  • Weird wrt54g problem-can't access my own website

I maintain a website through hosting service go daddy.  I use Frontpage XP to maintain this website.  My computer is WindowsXP pro.  I have the wrt54g version3 router with v4.30.5, Apr. 27, 2006 firmware.  Now for the weird part, I can access all web addresses fine, except for the website I maintain.  If I bypass the router, the website loads perfectly.  If I have the router installed, the website doesn't load at all, or if it does load, it doesn't load correctly.  I have tried resetting the router back to factory defaults, rebooting and praying.  I have called both my ISP and Go Daddy and they both say I am having a router issue. I have called thre of my freinds and they are all able to access the website without any problems.
    Any Ideas?

Check the MTU on the Status tab. Open a command prompt and ping your website with a packet size 28 lower than the MTU. If your MTU is 1454 then 1454-28=1426. Thus type:
    ping -f -l 1426 www.uawlocal1485.org
It should go through. Then try to increase the value in the ping by 2.
    ping -f -l 1428 www.uawlocal1485.org
It should not go through. If the first one does not go through, you have to lower the MTU in the router. Decrease the value in the ping until you find a value that works. Increase that value by 28 and use that as MTU in your router.

Hi. I have shared an Apple ID with my children for some time.  As they are getting older they do not wnat me seeing all their messages, photos etc so want their own accounts.  How can they access their purchased music and apps on the new account please?

    Yes.
On their iOS devices, under Settings>iTunes & App Store, they should use your Apple ID. When they log into iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, they should use their personal Apple IDs.

How do i open sites that require adobe flash? I can't open my own website, not to mention tons of other sites.  It's ridiculous.

Flash is not supported on the iPad and never has been supported on any iOS device - and as Adobe have never managed to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, and they have recently announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

New Mac only 5 days old. Daughter accessed a movie website and now popups keep appearing and unable to access any other Internet sites without being redirected. Have deleted her as a user and then tried to restore to factory settings. I did something wrong and it is now doing an Internet recovery. Help I am completly lost and don't know what I am doing.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • How can i host my own website through the server?

    Hello,
I am very new to the server and I bought it specifacally because I thought I could host my own website and not have to go through something like godaddy.
How can I do this with the Mac OSX Lion Server? Have a domain name and publish it through something like iWeb?

you will need a static ip address that either points to the server with port forwarding or is on its nic card. You then have to set up your dns entries and point your domain name to your dns server. You can then turn on web services.

  • Can't access wireless channels 12 and 13 from within the UK

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro 15" (latest model core i7) that I bought online. It's a US model.
When I am at work I am able to connect to the wireless network on channel 13. The wireless access point we have here is a Netgear and it has a "region" setting which is set to Europe.
When I'm at home I can't access my own wireless router (a belkin device) on channels 12 or 13. When configured to 12 or 13 the network doesn't show up in the list.
When I am connected to channel 13 at work, system profiler shows my Airport as being set to FCC locale and country code DE (germany). At home it always shows the country code as US.
Is there a way to fix this? It seems as if the router at work is somehow broadcasting the region to the macbook over the wireless network (perhaps along with the SSID?) which its then somehow validating in order to enable channels 12/13.
If anyone can tell me how to fix this or how to flash the airport to stay on the UK country code I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks.

What happens when you try to access the site? Can you access it from a different computer on the same network? Your profile says you have a Mac Pro, but you posted in the MacBook Pro area. If you have a MacBook Pro, can you access the site from another network, such as a public hotspot?

  • Can you save your own theme and button set up so I can use the same format

Can you save your own theme and button set up, so I can use this same format for similar content. I want to keep the button content and the theme the same without having to create it everytime? I am trying to streamline the process for multiple dvd's with the same menu and buttons but different content. Does that make sense?

I am only new to this caper too, but I am pretty sure you can save a theme as a favourite by pressing the "save theme as favourite" button under file. If you have edited an existing theme but don't want to lose it, make sure you untick the replace existing button.

  • Updated to firefox 4.0. since then my computer is very slow accessing the internet, websites and getting information from within a website.

Over a week ago I updated my computer to Firefox 4.0. Since then my computer is very slow accessing the internet, websites and getting information from within a website. Also, a tool bar has shown up for YAHOO which I did not request. The old detailed tool bar for Firefox has disappeared. All that now shows for Firefox is the area to enter website urls and an area to enter topic for a Google Search.
Many times I have to exit Firefox and re-enter it later to access the internet.
Please advice what I need to do to get back to the speed I had with the older version of Firefox.
    Thank You,
    Dennis
