Can't access my router's setup page (wrt54g)

I can't access my router's setup page (wrt54g) after setting it up. The router is working fine, but everytime I try to log on at 192.168.1.1 it says the password is incorrect. The first time I set it up I changed the default user name and password and I thought I had just forgot it, so I reset the device. This time I didn't change any of the defaults and I still can't log on. I already had to reset it several times, and it's just annoying. Does anyone knows how to keep it from happening? I thought it could be a firmware problem, but I can't find any downloads for my route'rs version (V8). I'm using a macbook pro, osx 10.9.2.
Solved!

I had the same problem.. After trying the userid and password from my previous WRT54G2 without success and admin admin multiple times, I used the "router name"  ==> Linksys as the user name and the security code that I used to set up the new router  as the password and it let me in..  I was on the phone with LINKSYS technical suport during this 1 hour process and they were as much surprised as I was that this worked..  After gettin on and changing the config, (thanks to Honey), I was able to access the internet from the new E2500 THAT i HAD JUST INSTALLED..  success

  • Can't access BEFW11S4 v2.1 config page / PASSWORD PROBLEM

    Hello.
I have a BEFW11S4 version 2.1 wireless router. Recently, I had to reset it to factory defaults.
However, since then, I can't access it from my web browser at 192.168.1.1 URL. It keeps asking me my password.
I've tried the "admin" password (with login left blank), both login & password set to "admin", and also with my previous password. Nothing works. I'm always having the red & white error page.
I can remember the firmware is 1.45 or something.
This is very annoying since I can't access the router's setup, and I'd like to add a few computers to my wireless network.
At the moment, Internet is working throught wired computers (at least!!!).
Anyone can help me ??? Thx!

hi... firstoff hard reset the router... connect computer directly to the modem and go to www.linksys.com/download and download the latest firmware for the router... go to ftp.linksys.com/pub/network and download tftp.exe file and save it on computer...run tftp application and try upgrading firmware using tftp application...after upgrading firmware on the router reset it and try logging on to setup page...let me know if you have any issues.

  • Can't get to router configuration Web page

For some reason, I can't bring up the router configuration page (192.168.1.1).  It's always worked in the past.  But today for some reason, when I type in the URL, it hangs and hangs and hangs...  and then just gives me the "Can't access" error message!
The funny thing is -- the router is working just fine.  I can browse, do E-mail, download files, everything.  Wired or wireless.  I just can't get to the router configuration!
I've rebooted the router several times.  What would cause this inability to directly access the router's setup page?

The main causes for this are:
    1) browser incompatibility:  Try a different browser.  Internet Explorer usually works.
    2) JavaScript must be turned on.
    3) Some firewalls will block this.  To test this, temporarily turn off your firewall.  If this corrects the problem, then turn your firewall back on, then open a hole in the firewall, to your router.
    4) Corrupted router firmware.  Since the rest of your router is working, this is probably not the cause.  However, if no other cause is found, you may need to reflash your firmware.
    5)  If your router is the WTR54GS  (note: NOT the WRT54GS)  then your default address is 192.168.16.1
Also, go to "Command Prompt" and type in "ipconfig"  (no quotes), then hit the "Enter" key.   The "Default Gateway" is your router's address.

  • Can't login to the router's setup page

I setup my brother’s Linksys WRT54G router using NetSet, should I still be able to get into the router's setup page by typing in 192.168.1.1? I haven’t been able to.
    Ronnie

I just upgraded to Internet Explorer to IE 7 and the smart application started blocking the access to the http://192.168.1.1. address.
I had enabled  the https option in my router and by I using the https://192.168.1.1 URL IE7 complained about how insecure was to access that site but it let me go in.
If you did not enabled the https option in your router, you may try to use some other browser not so protective of the user.

    Hector

  • Get a blank page when I log in to my WRT54G router's setup page

When I try to log in to my router's setup page, I get a blank screen.  My router's address is 192.168.1.1, and when I type that in to my browser's address bar, I do get the log-in prompt.  I enter the correct password (leaving the user name field blank), and I get a blank screen.  The ensuing page does not show me the various setup parameters.
I have 2 PCs and have encountered the problem in both.  On one, I am running Windows 7 and the other is running Vista.  I recently upgraded my WinXP machine to Win7 and I did not have the problem on XP.
    Can you please help?
    Thanks
    J

To view the router's web pages:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
Some Zone Alarm users have reported that adding 192.168.1.1 to their list of "trusted" addresses fixed the problem. This trick might also work with other firewalls.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system. It should work.
If you still have trouble, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • How can I access docs on a frozen Pages app? The Pages app froze up after attempted repair at the Genius bar last night.  The IPAD was having significant memory errors, and staff backed it up to the ICloud, then wiped the IPAD clean and restored the apps.

How can I access documents on a frozen Pages app? The Pages app on my IPAD does not function after the IPAD was backed up on the ICloud, and then restored. I synced the IPAD, but this did not solve the problem.  Other apps are working, just not Pages.  Please help! These docs are badly needed for work.  Thanks so much!

Have you tried closing the Pages app completely and seeing if it works ok when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Pages 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Pages app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • WRT54G V8 Can't connect to web based setup page?

Earlier I reset my router and was able to use 192.168.1.1 to visit the web based setup page while trying to re-establish a home network now that I have a new computer using Windows 7 which can not use the easylink advisor. I was able to get on the page to update my SSID and WEP key. But when my wireless devices were still having problems connecting to the internet I tried to go back to the page and found that I can't get it to connect, though my desktop is able to connect to other internet sites just fine.
Does anyone know what i can be doing wrong? I am using Verizon DSL. I was able to ping the router and all tests showed that it was connected fine, yet I still cannot get on the setup page and my laptop still can't connect to the network. I have tried resetting the router again, and still nothing. And yes, I have gone through numerous power cycles. I also tried going though the network map on my computer, but the computer says it was unable to create a map for it even though at the time I had it listed as a Home network.

Wireless connections to 192.168.1.1  often fail.  When accessing the router setup pages, always use a computer that is wired to the WRT54G.

  • Can't access range expander's home page.

So I just upgraded my range expander's firmware after a long time trying (great success!), but now I can't access the site once more... I used the default of 192.168.1.240 first, but now, it won't work. Could upgrading the firmware have changed the IP?

No it is not possible that the upgrade ... changes the Ip address for the Device .... once you upgraded the Range Extender ..... reset it for few seconds .... while holding the reset ... unplug & replug the power cable ....
Assign static Ip to the Local Area Connection & try to ping the Ip - 192.168.1.240 ....
See if it opens the setup page ....

  • Safari can not access any secure (HTTPS) web pages

Does anyone have an idea why a good frined of mine using Safari 1.3.2 on a Power Book G4 with Mac OS 10.3.9 can not access any secure web pages (those that start with HTTPS)? I can not find any preferences that might control this. She can access the pages with IE but not Safari. What setting on her computer might control this? Any ideas would be appreciated. I even through away (com.apple.Safari.plist) file. Not change. An ideas??

I have the same problem! However, this is ONLY while running wireless internet. Anytime I want to use an HTTPS site, I have to plug directly into my router, so I'm not wireless anymore, and then it works fine. Every now and then (like maybe 5% of the time), I get lucky and it will work for a short while such as logging into yahoo mail for example (logging into here didn't work at first but after waiting a bit, i was able to log in), but trying to stay on a secure connection such as a bank accnt. is impossible.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Everyone I've asked says they've never had the problem. I thought I was the only one.
I checked my proxy settings -- nothing is checked. I've tried deleting preferences and I reset safari often.

    Hi,
My router’s web-based setup page is unable to load fully.
There seems to be an error with some document.setup.save file.
I have tried to reset my router but the router’s web-based setup page is still unable to load fully.
    Please help.

But they soon removed that functionality. Can you guess why?
Because people were using the File/IO classes to easily steal or remove files on the harddrive, among other such niceties. You do NOT want to have such control from a web application. People will abuse it.

The upgrade went OK but I can't access the icloud document library as described in the Apple features section.  I can't get the dialog option in either Pages or Numbers Open boxes and it is not an option in Finder either.

    1. Switch to Finder bt clicking on your desktop

    3. Click on it holding down the option key and you should see the system library listed (exact wording escapes me I am not in Lion)
