Can't access my songs on iTunes

I recently had my laptop fixed and all of my music was saved and re-downloaded into iTunes. Now when I go into my iTunes I have 2 issues.. for some reason there are doubles of A LOT of my songs. And only some of my songs will play, the others tell me "You don't have authorization to play this on your computer, authorize now?"
When I do the authorization using my aol account it tells me I have to use my Apple ID instead, so I use that... It goes through and tells me I have authorized this computer. When I click on the song again.. It tells me I'm not authorized. I went through the FAQs and tried using some of the steps they mentioned to authorize my computer, but it still doesn't work.
I really would love to update my iPod, but if all these songs won't play in my iTunes.. I'm afraid they'll be deleted off my iPod, and that would be in the HUNDREDS.
Please help, and thank you very much for your time.

Thank you both for your suggestions but neither worked. I tried every step they offered. Here's what it tells me:
I click the "song" and go to "file"--> "get info"
There it tells me my account name which was originally used, it was my aol screen name. So I go to "store"--> "authorize computer"
I enter my aol name and password it then tells me:
"*You need to change your account to use an Apple ID*"
But I have already done that, ages ago.. Years ago, so I tried authorizing using my apple ID and it still won't work.
I just keep getting repeated authorization prompts, even after removing SC info and restarting.

  • Can't access purchased songs in iTunes

I have purchased several songs through iTunes, but can no longer access them with a reason along the line of "license already given to 5 computers". However, that's not true. I have reinstalled the operating system on my machine several times over the years, for various reason, but the machine itself never changed. How can I get access to my purchased songs again?

Same problem here (Germany), I have the problems since 5:30 AM CET
    Can´t download any song.

  • Authorizing several computers over a period of 10 years, I can't access older songs in iTunes.

I've been an Mac user since before iTunes sarted. Through the years as I add, authorize, deauthorize varies Macs, I am no longer "authorized" to play a large majority of music I purchased early on.

I've managed to reset the password for two of the three accounts, but it doesn't work when the window pops up in iTunes, asking to authorize the computer. I've tried several times, changed the password at least twice. Just so you all know, I stop buying music on iTunes about 2 years ago, because trying to access music I've already PAID for (there's a novel idea)  is an ridiculous waste of time.
Further more I get better support from free sites like Tumblr, than Apple.

If you right mouse and select Get info it will show you the Apple ID used to purchase these songs.
Usually the name of an apple id is based on the email. So knowing that you may have forgotten the Apple ID password.
You can request a new password here http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/

  • If I copy a CD (either music or audio) on my Windows based Pc can I access the copy using itunes?

If i copy a Cd (either music or audio) on my Windows based PC can I access the copy using itunes.  I have a ipod Nano, 7th generation.

You should use iTunes to "rip" (encode) the songs directly into your iTunes library from the CDs.  This article provides a good description of how that is done using iTunes.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1156861/howto_rip_cds.html
If you use some other program to encode the content on those CDs, you can add any audio files that are in a format that iTunes can play (such as MP3 and AAC) to your iTunes library.  "Windows Media" files are not playable by iTunes, but the Windows version of iTunes can convert them while importing (as long as the files do not use DRM).

  • Can I access my husband's iTunes acct. from my iPad?  I have his permission & pass code.  We want to keep all music in one place & family accessible.

Can I access my husband's iTunes acct. from my iPad?  i have his permission & pass code.  We want to keep all music in one place & family accessible.

If you log into his account and download some of his past purchases on your iPad then you risk tying your iPad to his account for 90 days : iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
But it looks like that might change when iOS 8 is released in the Autumn (no date has been announced yet) : http://www.apple.com/ios/ios8/family-sharing/
If you have his content in your computer's iTunes library then you could sync it from there instead of risking the 90 days association on your iPad. If you don't then you could copy it from his computer and then sync it to your iPad e.g. copy his music to a flash drive and then add it to your library via File > Add To Library

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

  • TS4124 Hi, do you know how can I upload inelegible songs from itunes to Icloud. They are songs added from original CDs. Another question would be how can I transfer all the music I have in my Ipod Classic to my Itunes or ICloud as I want to back it up.

Depends on why it's ineligible.  If it's under 96 Kpbs, try right-clicking on the file and choosing Create AAC Version.  (If you don't see this option, go to iTunes>Preferences, click "Import Settings..." then choose "Import Using: AAC Encoder" and "Setting: iTunes Plus".)  Then rescan your library to see if this version will add to iTunes Match.  Or, after changing your import setting, just re-import the song to your iTunes library.
If the song is over 200 MB you would have to reduce it's size to make it eligible.

can you access and store two itunes libraries on one computer?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes but you may run into issues if you want them both to run iTunes Match or automatic downloads.

I'd maybe try doing a search for Safari on your iPad first (swipe to the left to search). If it shows up in that search you can go to Settings > General > Reset and choose 'reset home screen layout' which will put it back where it would be by default.
    All else fails? Restore it.

  • I can't import any songs into iTunes.

I can't import any songs into iTunes. I can drag and drop but nothing will happen. Songs show up when a search is done but songs cannot be played or located in iTunes. I think this has something to do with the recent update because I have songs imported into iTunes from December.

I found the problem. I have VMware fusion that is hosting Window XP on the iMac. When the fusion is running the CD player is not seen in OS. By quitting Fusion I can now insert a CD and the disk icon appears on the OS screen. Now I can bring up iTunes and import the audio and continue as before. The one exception is I cannot bring in a photo of the album cover as before I have to drag the photo out of iPhoto and onto the desk top. Then I can drag it into the artwork patch in the iTunes/ info window.

  • After an iTunes update I can't access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file

After an iTunes update I now. Can't  access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file. Any ideas how to rectify this?

Your iTunes Library.itl file will normally be at C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. If it isn't there should it be somewhere else (you ought to know if you deliberately moved it) or is there a Previous iTunes Libraries folder containing backups made during iTunes updates.

  • HT1399 Can I manually select songs from iTunes? If so, how?

Can I manually select songs from Itunes? If so, how?

I have the iPhone 5. When I plug my phone into iTunes to select different songs, as my libraray is too large to keep it all on my phone. The only choices that iTunes gives you now is Artists, Genres, etc. I don't see the ability to just select song for song, like the older version of iTunes. Which in my opinion, was way more user friendly.
