Can't access New Yorker disks

I have a set of The New Yorker on disks.  Under Lion I can't open the software since it's PowerPC.  Is there anyway around this issue?  I really need the info on those disks.

I have just experienced exactly the same problem. My TC is LAN-connected to my Mac Mini. I had not used this kit for approx one month [ May ] due to travel. On booting the Mini for the first time I was asked to apply a series of security fixes [ which I did ] and from that moment on I have not been able to "see" the Time Capsule properly.
Interestingly, it has appeared in the navigation bar [ left of Finder Window ] in two discrete forms - i.e. I get two icons, not one now ] but clicking on either of them gives me the "busy" cursor for a couple of minutes, after which I get a message to say that the Mac could not connect.
However, I am able to connect to the Time Capsule from my PC [ running ubuntu Linux ] and connecting via the CIFS network filing system [ which is effectively the new name for Microsoft's Server Message Block protocol ].
Does anyone have any evidence of issues after any recent OS patches being applied?
It may be worth noting that although I have patched my Mini very recently, it's probably been at least 2-3 months since I last updated the software/firmware in my Time Capsule...
It may also be worth noting that I can "ping" to the Time Capsule from the Mac Mini simply by using a terminal window, so I definitely have basic network connectivity.
Finally, I have tried to use the Airport Express Utility (I use my Time Capsule to be my wireless hub) but this is unable to "see" my Time Capsule at all...
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks in Advance.

  • Deploying Jira using Weblogic 10.3 - Can't access new jira server

I was able to install WL 10.3, create a new domain named, 'atlassian', and add a new server to that domain named 'jira'. I add a datasource to 'jira' then deployed jira via a .war to the new server. By default the new domains AdminServer comes up and is accessable via port 7001/console, but the managed server, jira requied that I start nodemanger before it would allow me to start 'jira' sever. Now, jira sever, datasource and app are all running, but I can not access via URL.
The Jira Server is running on port 7011, but I get a 404 when attempting to connect to http:\\<myserver>:7011 or http:\\<myserver>:7011\jira. Any ideas here are appreciated since Jira is not certified on 10.3, they aren't much help.

Atlassian has pretty good user forums, you might be able to get additional help there:
    http://forums.atlassian.com/forum.jspa?forumID=46
Does the deployment screen show it has "Running". What does the deployment screen for the app show its context root as?
Also, why not just JIRA standalone? (it comes out of the box running in embedded tomcat).

if this quesstion is not related to this forum plz guide me that where i put this quesstion?

You figure out how to do it on your OS using C/C++ code.
Then you write a wrapper in JNI to call your C/C++ code.

  • Time machine can't access the backup disk ''time machine backup'' on WD My Cloud, Time machine can't access the backup disk ''time machine backup'' on WD My Cloud?

Every time I try to start my Mac's time Machine receive above message and it seems no possible to reopen/start properly the application.
    What is error OSS 2?

WD Back up connection problems for Networked WD hard drive
    “Connection failed”
    “Can not find server”
“There was a problem connecting to the server “WD ShareSpace-Backup”.”
There may be two problems and associated solutions:
    Read only access
It may be necessary to “create” a disk for the WD back up.
    Change Read Only Access
The WD hard drive may automatically create a share for the Time Machine. This share appears in Finder as “WD_Backup”
If you open WD interface through a web browser and go to
Advanced Mode > Users>Folder Share permissions
You will see it as “back up” or similar.
As indicated by others click on the icon on the far left – a pencil and paper – and change the “NFS Access” from “Read Only” to “Full Access”
For Networked back up dives it may be necessary to “create” a disk for the WD back up.
The WD hard drive may automatically create a share for the Time Machine. This share appears in Finder as “WD_Backup”
The password is “backup”, although others have suggested it is sometimes “admin”
If when you open “Time Machine” and “Select Disk” time Machine says it “can not find…” or “can not connect to…” the server/disk it may be necessary to “create”, ”map”, or manually force your mac to connect to the “WD_Backup” folder share.
    To do this
    Open Finder
    Select GO>Connect to Server
In the box at the top enter the IP address for your WD drive. You can find this in the top of your web browser or through your web browser interface with your WD Drive:
    Advanced Mode >Network>LAN
The IP address will probably be in the format
“192.168.0.X” where “X” is a number particular to your network
In my case X used to be 2 but then changed to 3 – I don’t know why.
Click “Connect” and enter the Name and password
    Name: “WD_Backup”
    Password: “backup”
Click “registered user” and click “connect”
Click the “+” button to add the server to the list in the lower box.
    Now open “Time Machine”
    Click “Select Disk”
Your new “disk” / Folder share should appear in the list with the IP address below it thus:
    WD_Backup
    On “192.168.0.X”
As in the screen shot below.
Select this disk by clicking on the disk and then on “use disk”.
    You should now be away………….

  • Can I use new install disks for older computer?

I have a new MBP (which I'm very excited about!). I am going to pass my two-year old MBP to one of my college kids. I would like to wipe it clean as he will be transferring all of his own info onto it from his current MBP (which will then be passed down to another college kid). I can't find the original install disk. Can I use the ones that came with the new machine?

No. The install disks are specific to the model they ship with.
I've read that a Retail copy of Snow Leopard will allow you to essentially do a 'fresh' install of the OS, but it does not include the diagnostics and configuration features of your original system disks.
You can call Apple and order a replacement set of disks for a nominal charge (around $40, I think I've read.) Since you're keeping it in the family, that would be an important thing to have with the Mac in case you cannot locate the originals.

  • MacBook Air 11" can't access Time Capsule Disk

    Hi:
I have two Minis, a MPB 13" and a MBA 11" connected to my Time Capsule. My MBP and the two Minis can access the Time Capsule disk with no problem. It's a different story for the MBA.
From the MBA, I can see my Time Capsule in Finder (Bonjour) and I can click on it, however the disk never appears. Clicking "connect as" doesn't do anything either. From Finder if I go "connect to server" and I type the IP address of my Time Capsule it connects without problems, but it won't connect with its name.
I am able to connect the disk on my other Macs from the MBA via Bonjour, just not the Time Capsule. As mentionned earlier, the Time Capsule disk is available from my other Macs and even from Windows.
I rebooted a few times and confirmed that the username/password are properly saved in the keychain of my MBA.
Any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks!

Are your other Macs connected via Wifi or ethernet? It sounds like some sort of network configuration issue. If they are connected via Wifi then I'd make sure the MBA has the same settings for it's network. Alternately I'd get rid of the keychain entry on the MBA and re-enter it to make sure it's correct. As a last resort I'd restart the Time Capsule and see if it makes a difference. I'm connecting a MBA to a Time Capsule so it should work.

  • Can't access new MBP from other Macs on my network

I just got a new last-gen MBP running Leopard. All Apple updates are installed. I need to access it from two Macs on my network that are running Tiger (also with all current updates installed). Tiger-to-Tiger connections are running perfectly. And the new Mac accesses the Internet, networked printers and so on just fine.
Problem: While the MBP shows up in the other machines' Network Browser, they can't connect to it. And, while the MBP sees the other machines, all it can connect to is the account Public Folders (the entire volumes are set to share).
The new MBP was populated with data from my old PB G4 using Migration Assistant.
I've never had a problem like this. I've tried disabling the MBP Firewall, rebooting the network, rebooting all of my Macs, but still no luck.
I've searched the Discussions and didn't find any help in previous postings. Hopefully someone can help me now...
    Thank you!

I can connect to any of the Tiger machines from the Leopard machine.
And the Leopard machine shows in each Tiger machine's network browser.
I've rebooted all of the machines at least once and rebooted my router and switch as well.
I've tried connecting to the Leopard machine by specifying its afp address.
None of this works. I guess I'll need to take advantage of my free 90 days of tech support and call Apple. In 20 years of owning Macs, I've never encountered anything like this. I still hope I don't need to reinstall the OS, but I'm getting very worried.
Thanks for all the suggestions; I'll keep checking back and will also post the solution if one is found.
I do not think it's an OS issue. At least one requiring a reinstall.
I just started my other MBP with Tiger. Takes a bit since it's booting via a FW400 pipe.
I will see if I can access this MBP from that one in a few minutes. Never did that - all my systems have been peers. (Booted faster than I expected.)
First I note that this Leopard box does not show up on the Tiger box.
Also "go" and browse does not show this box.
It worked but I had to enter this IP into the "connect to" on Tiger.
    Required login and password.
Connected via afp and a window popped up with the volumes on this box to connect to.
Clicked this user account and there I was.
After that, this box showed up in the Finder sidebar.
So Tiger will connect to a Leopard box, but it seems that one needs to enter the IP of the Leopard box. If that does not work, then something is wrong.
Curiously, that Tiger box has not registered on this Leopard under Places.
Ah, I did not have filesharing on in the Tiger box. Turned it on and I can see it from here.
So I have bilateral network connections: Leopard here <-> Tiger there
Works for me, but that does not help you except to know that it should work.
BTW The Tiger version is 10.4.11.

  • I can not access my hard disk protected by Bitlocker drive despite the right recovery key

I had locked my 1 TB harddisk 1 year back with BitLocker Drive. I have been using its recovery key to unlock it since then. But since 3 days back, it has been displaying the message " Error recovering disk. The recovery key entered is not correct, try
it again." And I am not able access my important documents despite of having the right key.
Please help me. Thanks alot in advance.

One of the greatest feature of MBAM is single-sign of Recovery Key which means if a recovery key is used once, it will be automatically re-generated. So, first match the 8 digit starting of Recovery ID with its associated recovery key.
Or re-request for the Recovery Key to your MBAM Administrator by providing him the starting 8 digit recovery ID. You can also get the recovery key again using the MBAM self-Service Portal.

  • Multiple libraries on 1 computer, can't access new library

I have two libraries on two computers, one on each. I needed to move one library to the computer that already has one library. I followed all the steps on the apple article "how to use our ipod to move your music to a new computer". Now both libraries are on one computer, however the one I moved won't open in itunes. I know to hold the shift key down while clicking on itunes so it asks me to either choose a libary or create one. Whether I choose "create one" or "choose a library" it won't access the library I moved.
    Help!

    These directions?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329
Sadly, I believe those steps will overwrite the library file that was previously there.
Search your PC's hard drive for files containing ITL. How many itl library files does it find?

  • Hard disk stop working how can recovery may new hard disk on mac book pro and i not have recovery disk the recovery is installed in soped hard disk

i have macbook pro the recovery is in hard disk and not have recovery disk and hard disk stop working now i want to change hard disk but how can i recovery my macbook pro can help me ?

"it shows macintosh HD OSX 10.9.5 but the hard drive that is supposed to be in the upper right corner is not showing up. So it is booting from that drive."
Ok go to "Finder" preferences and make sure the "Hard disk" box is checked.
That will make your boot disk show up in the upper right corner. You can tell it's a boot disk because all the files will look like this instead of just being blank files.

  • Can I force new startup disk at reboot?

I'm running Tiger on an old G4 iBook. I tried upgrading to Leopard, but after lots of churning I got the message that I couldn't do this because I don't have enough RAM. Problem is, when I try to switch startup disk back to the local disk from the installation disk, the optical drive churns and churns and ultimately the system freezes up before I can consummate the switch. I therefore have to do a hard reboot, which starts the installation process again. Is there a way of forcing a switch in the startup disk while rebooting? Some combination of option key and other key?

Here's the *Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard installation system requirements*

Were you using a black, retail Leopard DVD installer or a gray installer from another model Mac (won't work)?

  • Time Machine can't access the backup disk "Data".

The operation couldn't be completed. ( OSStatus error 22. )
anyone else having this problem when trying to back-up on TC ?

Strange.. two in a row looks bad.
I want you to ensure you have ipv6 set to link-local for both wireless and ethernet on the computer.
Power down the TC and leave it for an hour or two.
Then power it up again.. does it still have the same issue.
    Do a full factory reset.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
    Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Power down and see if it will come up again after an hour with the same problem.
Go to the Disk tab of the airport utility .. is the erase button working.. please try and do a quick erase first.. does that work? If not try a one pass erase?
If everything fails.. ring apple support .. or do that anyway and let them talk you through the problem.
The fact that it worked for 3days and failed and the first was dead out of the box might mean you have some other issue.. but I cannot figure out what it could be. Hard drive failure early on is not unusual.. two in a row is.

  • Can't Access New iPod in iTunes

I just bought a new 30GB iPod and sync'd it with my iTunes. No problems. However, when I go to edit/ select any of the music on my iPod through iTunes it will not let me. It seems like my iPod is locked or not authorized. In iTunes, when I go to the Music folder under my iPod at the bottom of the screen where it gives you the free space left there is a little lock icon. I already set up the secure lock features on my iPod and turned it off.

Follow the instructions in this article to remove the lock.
