Can't access Palm User Data with Mountain Lion

Hi
I am now using Mountain Lion (10.8.6) and can not acces Palm User Data which has all my contacts.  I'm not very computer savvy and am not even sure what my old computer was running that allowed me to open my Palm Desktop software so I'm not  very comfortable trying to install another OS just for this application.  Is there another way to open the Palm User Data with another application?  I tried Text Edit and the data is corrupt.  Or is there any 3rd party software that could help?
thank you.
Madeline

Hey guys I've found the solution for this problem!!! You will can continue using the wifi conection! My Mountain Lion language is portuguese so i will translate how i think it is in english... go to sys preferences, click on network, than select wifi and click on advanced button, select the hardware tab, on set check it as manual, and then check MTU mode as personilized. It will show a number (problaby 1500) set it as 1400 or lower and click on ok! After that, everything will work again! I hope that helped you all! Thanks.

  • How to manually migrate user data under Mountain Lion?

I want to manually migrate my user data from a cloned back-up to my iMac after a clean install of Mountain Lion. I do not want to use Migration Assistant because of the probabily of re-importing some of the problems I'm trying to fix.  (This is at the tail end of a long trouble shooting process trying to fix a very very slow computer aftere a ML upgrade from Lion.  Clean install of ML is a last resort)
There used to be an excellent list by Kappy (I think) on this sort of migration under earlier systems and from PPC to Intel.  But that link seems to have been taken down.
We plan to reinstall all software from scratch after the clean install, so that is not an issue. And I know how to move the normal files in documents, music and the like.  I am most concerned about are:
    •  Making sure I move the right files/folders in the Library related to Apple apps like iTunes, iPhoto, Address Book, Calendar, iWork apps, iPhone backups, etc. plus system/network settings.
    •  Are there other specific files/folders necessary due to iCloud that are new to Mountain Lion that need moved?
    •  How to do this in a way that ensures that all permissions will be OK under the new user?
The goal is a new fresh user on a clean fresh ML install that is identical to the current user in name, function and above all, permissions.
Can anyone provide a list of the main files/folders necessary to transfer ideally along the lines of Kappy's earlier and excellent guide?
    Thanks for any help!!
    ~Roger

So long as you use iCloud for Mail, Contacts and Calendars, run software update(s) after installing each app, they will build new preference files for themselves.  iTunes will back up the phone too.  System settings are likely to change. I found the firewall off and energy saver preferences default.  Trackpad options for tap to click and drag lock may change.
Some of the updates are quite large so it takes a few hours and you need any purchase key codes handy for re-registration of software.

  • Can't use 5.6 utility with Mountain Lion

I just got a new Airport Extreme - trying to use the OLDER Airport Express and non of the Airport utilities will work with it and 5.6 won't install.
    Help!
    Thanks!

AirPort Utility 5.6 is the last version capable of administering your original Express. It is compatible with Lion as well as Mountain Lion, however, the installer app will refuse to install it on Mountain Lion.
This dilemma is easily solved though. You simply need to extract the app from the installer package using a package extractor like Pacifist.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
Mountain Lion will not allow you to delete its existing version of AirPort Utility. Just ignore it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist.
Note: For those with Leopard or Snow Leopard systems you need AirPort Utility 5.6.1 (this is confusing - a later AirPort Utility version for an earlier OS X version - but it is correct).
Download AirPort Utility 5.6.1 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1536
If you have an older computer with a version of AirPort Utility earlier than 6.0, you can administer it that way as well.

  • Can't mirror to my Vizio with Mountain Lion???

I just downloaded and installed Mountain Lion and have lost the ability to mirror my Macbook Pro to my 32" Vizio.  I am using a Macbook Pro 17" (May 2012 and max out on everything) and it was working fine until I upgraded.  What gives?  Anyone have a solution other than, "restart the computer?"  That's why I left the PC world!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sorry forgot to mention I am sending signal to Vizio by HDMI.

  • How can I sync Exchange/GroupWise calendar with Mountain Lion and iOS 6.1?

On my iPhone I have defined the GroupWise server and I'm receiving every calendar events but it doesn't sync to my computer.
Any idea why and how to fix it?

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

  • Can't install Epson stylus 230 with Mountain Lion.

Everytime I go to install the software from the website, I'm being prompted that I'm not the Admin and to log in as such.  Well I am the Admin.  Contacted Epson support and they said its the OS. I've restarted and redownloaded the software several times but nothing works. Ideas?

Thank you for providing the information.  It certainly helps in trying to replicate what you are experiencing.  First, let me say that you really shouldn't have to download software from the Epson site.  The latest drivers would normally be pushed by Apple's Software Update.
If you specifically want the Epson Scan software, then you would have to get that from Epson.   I personally do prefer the Epson Scan software over the standard Image Capture software, but that is only my opinion.
ILn any event, I followed your directions.  I downloaded two files. The main printer drivers was a file epson14341.dmg and the Epson Scan software was epson14339.dmg.  I did get two prompts.  The first was to say I wanted to open the software downloaded from the web.  The second was a standard authentication for the installer.  Screen shots below.
Are you getting a chance to enter your username and password?  Can you post a screen shot of what is preventing you from installing the software?

  • I have Minimac with OSX Server - can I reload it with Mountain Lion?

I have a minmac and runs OSX Server. I do need the server control so can I go ahead and restore with Mountain Lion?

Actually, when you install Mountain Lion client, the Lion version
of Server and its components will be quarantined as an incompatible
app and could then be disposed of.
So either delete before or delete after willl work.

As indicated in the linked article, read/write is good.
However, if you using Time Machine, and you are going to be making lots of changes and the folder is going to hold a large amount of data (like tens of GB), then choose SparseBundle so that Time Machine can work with it efficiently.

  • TS3991 iCal won't synce with Mountain Lion & iPhone 4s

I can't get iCal to sync with Mountain Lion & iPhone 4s via iCloud. Is there a simple way to make this work?

Okay, did some comparing and it appears only ALL DAY events are displaying on the wrong day. Anything I have set with a specific time shows up on the correct day. Found a reference on the Internet that explains this.
Apparently, according to that source, the computer considers a day to START at 12:00 am, so an all day event displays on the computer on the correct day which begins at midnight. But the iPhone considers a day to END at 12:00 am so all day events are posted BEFORE midnight of the correct day, which is the wrong day.
What I don't understand is WHY Apple has the iPhone using different criteria than their computers? This "bug" apparently goes back to the original iPhone iOS. Why haven't they reprogrammed it by now?
I have an appointment with Apple for next week to have someone call me and I will discuss it with them. Hopefully, they'll have an answer for me on how to fix my events to display correctly. If not, I guess I'll have to change all day events to begin and end at specific times. Which means deleting birthdays from the Address Book and creating calendar entries for each one. What a nuisance that will be!
ETA: AND I won't be able to rely on the US Holidays calendar. *sigh*
