Can't access photo library after last update

I have a Macbook Air 13 and am running the most current Maverick (10.9.5) before Yosemite was released.
I take all updates as they arrive and are listed by AppStore.
After the last iPhoto update that came about the time Yosemite arrived I can no longer access my photo Library.
When opening iPhoto it give me a choice to upgrade my library or quit. So I tried to upgrade and after about 30 seconds iPhoto simply goes away.
I am traveling and can not do the large Yosemite upgrade, in case that is the issue, but need access to my photos.
When I plug in and sync my iPhone5S  (which is running the latest updates as well) it seems to sync but I have no way to import the photos.
I am guessing this is related to the last update but have no idea what to do in order to recover.
iPhoto 9.6 now show incompatible but I don't recall seeing this earlier.
I am running iTunes 12.0.1 and it can not access the photo settings. It just sits with the busy spinner.

iPhoto 9.6 only runs on Yosemite.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Can't access external library after iOS5 update

For years I've kept separate itunes libraries on an external drive without a problem (well, mostly without problems). After updating itunes to work with iOS5 I can no longer access my external library files. All of them are greyed out and I can't choose them. Each collection of library files are located within separate folders ( I have one for music, one for audio books, and one for tv/movies) on the external drive. The data (musice, movies, etc) seem fine.  Has Apple changed where the library files need to be located? or is it another issue. The only thing I could think of was to run repair permissions but that didn't change a thing. I really don't want to lose the organization and playlists for over 100GB of files. Please help!

iPhoto 9.6 only runs on Yosemite.

I have aperture 3.4.5 but si not available the uograde at 3.5 and i can't open my library after the update to' maverick

    Marco,
is your main system language set to English? If not, change the language to English in the "Language&Region" System Preferences  (see: Re: I bought Aperture in a box et can't upgrade from 3.4.5 to 3.5.). Then sign back into AppStore and reload the Updates panel.
Other things that could prevent the update are, if you moved Aperture from the Applications folder or renamed it. Then put it back.

  • Can't access several websites after last security update

    Hello,
After upgrading both my Macbook Air mid 2011 and iMac 2008 (with SSD) both running Mountain Lion 10.8.4 to the last security fix, I can't access from any of those two computers a variety of websites, for example:
    www.opennicproject.org
    www.gentoo-el.org
    www.adslgr.com
These are only three. Almost half of Google's results are blocked. Using the terminal utility I am able to resolv some of them but not actually 'ping' them. I get no ping replies. I can access all these websites from other computers or devices (iPhone/iPad/Ubuntu desktop/WindowsXP laptop) on the same LAN. This problem exists only in the 2 macs  which are up-to-date. I am sure that this problem is related to latest security update I did a couple of days ago, to both computers.
I'd like to know if anyone who have all patches installed up to the latest OSX version (mountain lion 10.8.4) has the same issues and can ping/resolv/access these websites.
Note that although I can't access these websites directly using any direct network connection, I can access them using TOR browser bundle for mac, which means that something is going on at a computer level.
    I have checked so far:
    - Applicationn Apple's firewall is not creating the problem (disabled/enabled all)
    - ipfw/PF is not running with any ruleset
    - LittleSnitch blocks just a couple of annoying outgoing connections. Nothing there (I disabled/enabeld it, same thing).
    - Other computers access the websites/ping them/etc.
    - I can access websites using TOR.
NOTE: It's not just 3 websites, it's something like 1 out of 3 DuckDuckGo links.
    Ideas and thoughts are welcomed!
    Best Regards,
    PA

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

  • IPhoto can't access photo library

I recently updated iPhoto. Now it can't access my photo library. How do I fix this?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Can't access BBC iplayer after loading update 11th Oct

Loaded update of 11th Oct and since then have been unable to access BBC iplayer

My sister told me not to update iTunes because most likely it will ruin things instead of improving, I didn't listen cause I think Apple must be providing some new features and improvement in the update, that's what an update for, isn't it? However, after this update I am really afraid now to do the next one, who knows what will happen next? I read post that 2 years ago people already had this "access to the iTunes store" problem after iTunes update, and 2 years later Apple still have the same problem in their update, consider a smart company like Apple can't even figure this out, this is unbelievable! For those of you who would like to try reinstalling, be sure to follow the instruction step by step at the link below. Just a reminder, uninstall iTunes only is not going to work cause there are still related files hidden in the computer, so it's necessary to uninstall all the Apple related programs. Hope everyone can fix this annoying problem somehow.

  • Can't access Photo Library First Aid

Before I start my doubt I already did this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2512?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
But I can't access the photo library first aid. The problem is my iPhoto doesn't let copy photos from library to ie: desktop. And then appears a window with this info: The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items.
Jeez what is this issue? I put my photos on this software because I trust on Apple products  and now I don't have access to them?
Following the link I posted, a press the command button as the same time the iphoto dock logo and the Photo Library First Aid doesn't appear lol
Apple I want a solution for this problem now! All my work is inside of iPhoto library

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Can't open iphoto library after software update

Hello, I recently updated to iPhoto 2.0.1 and now can't open my photo library. Here's the error msg i receive when i open the app: "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iphoto."
I only have 1 version of iphoto on my hd.
    Thanks!!
    Molly

I only assumed the trouble stemmed from an auto software update. But when you say "a photo CD recently acquired" do you mean any CD with photos on it? I get a few of those a week in my line of work and have never had a problem before. Could a CD of images have corrupted my application?
Also, I just got a new HD onto which all of my data was transferred, could this have precipitated the problem?
This indeed is the something I was not telling you.
Do let me know Brie Fly.
    Thank you.

  • Can't access one website after safari update

After the Safari 5.1.4 update, I'm unable to access one particular site, the one that used to be my homepage. Trying to access it causes the browser and OS to freeze up for several minutes. Can't force quit or close. I'm able to access my other 'regular' sites. Thought?

    Hi ...
Try emptying the cache and do a reset.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache. Quit then relaunch Safari. Go to Safari > Preferences - General and make sure the homepage url is correct.
If that didn't help, back to the menu bar, click Safari > Reset Safari. Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset.
According to your profile you have Lion v10.7 installed.
Disabling the Lion resume feature can help with Safari...
    Open System Preferences > General
Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
    Restart your Mac.

  • I can't access FTP anymore after modem update

I recently updated my modem through Comcast. As a result, I can no longer access FTP sites. I am on MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.1. It was working just fine before the update. Firewall is off and there are no proxies. I have “Use Passive FTP Mode” unchecked as well. I am using Transmit but have tried Fetch as well.
Here is the error message that I get:The connection has timed out The server at ftp.powweb.com is taking too long to respond. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

  • After an iTunes update I can't access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file

After an iTunes update I now. Can't  access my library as iTunes can't find my .itl file. Any ideas how to rectify this?

Your iTunes Library.itl file will normally be at C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. If it isn't there should it be somewhere else (you ought to know if you deliberately moved it) or is there a Previous iTunes Libraries folder containing backups made during iTunes updates.
