Can't access previously purchased iTunes music ='(

So here's the problem:
So about five years ago or so my computer that held all of my files crashed. And I know, it's my fault for not storing them elsewhere =(
Now I don't expect Apple to help me get all the mucic I lost, but all I want downloaded to my new computer are all the songs, apps, etc. that I had purchased over the years, since I know they keep track of all that. Now you may wonder, "Why don't you just sync your iPod to your new computer and problem solved!"
Well... that would work....except for the fact that some buttholes broke into my car and stole my iPod touch, the last storage item that held my music. I know I can't recover the music that I had burned into it, but I have been hoping that Apple could go ahead and allow me to download the music that I have bought to my new computer and new iPod. So far, I haven't found a way to do this. So will I have to call Apple about this? It doesn't seem fair for me to have to buy music that I already 'technically' own. Any way to do this? Thanks

You can redownload those purchased music from your new iTunes.
Go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Go through all the tabs to download again for free

  • HT201272 Can't sync previously purchased iTune music & unavailable to re-download

    Hello everyone!
Here's my problem:  I got a new computer, transferred all iTune files to new computer using flash drive & authorized new computer for my apple id.  I am still unable to sync my previous iTune purchases to my ipod & itouch.  My 100+ iTune songs error out, saying "unable to sync, cannot locate original file".  I checked help info & it says to download again from "Purchased" list in iTunes Store.  No "iCloud logos appeared in my list so I downloaded most recent iTunes update including iCloud & tried again.  No success.  Researched further and found if shows as "downloaded" it is unavailable.  All of my songs are listed as unavailable even the ones I purchased last week.  Does anybody have any idea what I could be doing wrong or how to fix it?  I am totally frustrated and out of ideas and my teenage daughter is not a happy camper either.  I;d appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks!

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
BTW iTunes won't offer your past purchases to you if there is a current entry in the library, even if that entry is to a missing file...

  • How do I authorize my 100+ previously purchased itunes music that is in protected aac form?  It prompts that my computer is not authorized even though it is.

How do I authorize my 100+ previously purchased itunes music that is in protected aac form?  It prompts that my computer is not authorized even though it is.

are you saying that your computer is autharized from guessing, or do you know it is becuase it says it. in itunes, go to the advanced tab and the last option in that tab should be either aurhorize, or de-authorize.  What does it say?

  • For some reason I am unable to access my purchased itunes music from my icloud or from my computer.  I suddenly get this message: say that I the original location for the song cannot be found.

For some reason I am unable to access my purchased itunes music from the purchased folder in the itunes store or in my icloud.  The descriptions of the songs I purchased are there, but when I attempt to play them it says that the original location of the song cannot be located.  This is so frustranting. How do I get my songs back??

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • HT201272 All my previously purchased iTunes Music will not play on my iPhone 5. I am really frustrated! If anyone knows how to help, please do so :)

I cannot play any of my previously purchased iTunes songs/albums on my iPhone 5. The songs are listed as downloaded, but when I go to play them, the 'play' screen appears for about 2 seconds, and then disappears. I have followed all the steps I can find online. My phone is syncing with iCloud these days. Please help if you can!

    Welcome to the forums.
This hasn't yet been reported but the fact that it's only songs you purchased that plays is suspicious. What is the format of the other music? (Go into iTunes and select one and press Ctrl-I and report on what it says there).

  • I cannot access previously purchased iTunes files.

    Hello,
I purchased iTunes files about a year ago (that's when I began). That was my first mistake, seeing as how you can never do anything with them besides play them on iTunes. However that is not my point. After a while I stopped purchasing iTunes music, and during that time I switched banks and therefore credit cards. I had not tried to purchase any new music with the new credit card, because I didn't need any, so therefore I never thought about/saw a reason to update my account. Then my old computer pretty much died and I bought a brand new one (Gateway, it's awesome). It even has Windows Vista, yay. Now, I was a good little girl and made backup discs of all of my iTunes store music (I didn't want to waste CDs on storing music I already had on original CDs). Now, I loaded it onto the new Gateway computer, and it won't play. Now, I bet you're going to direct me to the "help" page about authorizing computers. Guess what? Been there, done that. I've been all over your help section on here (which is absolutely stupid, might I add - it would be MUCH more useful if you had things, oh I don't know, organized, or had an email address at which to contact you about this type of problem!). Nothing is helping me. I have authorized this same computer about 10 times now (no exaggeration), and my music still won't play. It pops up and says that I am not authorized to access it. Then to verify that my identity was the same when I tried a different route, it asked for the original credit card number. Well, I don't know about you, but I don't tend to keep my old credit cards just lying around! Needless to say, I don't remember it, or have any possible way to access it. So, am I going to have to go and pay again to hear the music that I ALREADY PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE? If I am not, I would absolutely LOVE for someone to tell me how to listen to MY MUSIC that I HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED and NOT CHEAPLY! Thank you!
If any other information is needed please feel free to contact me at [email protected] because I really need the help on this, I really can't afford to go back and re-buy all this music (which I shouldn't have to do in the first place).

... I really can't afford to go back and re-buy all this music (which I shouldn't have to do in the first place).
No you shouldn't. Bear in mind, though, that Apple has set this up as a user-to-user board so all we can do here is try to help you figure out why the authorization procedure isn't working correctly for your new computer.
There have been a variety of issues reported with iTunes and Windows Vista, some I believe related to the authorization procedure. So the first thing I'd do is make sure you've downloaded and installed iTunes 7.1 which was just released yesterday.
That may solve your problem. If not, click on the Review Authorization Count link in the Why can't I authorize one of my computers? section of this Apple Support page and let us know how many authorizations you're using.
Be patient and we should be able to figure this out.

  • Can't access previously purchased TV shows from iTunes

I have purchased several tv series in itunes and can't access SD version to download.  It only gives me option of downloading HD version which would mean I need to repurchase.
This issue is a function of itunes not downloading current week show.  I have to do manually each time.  I am logged into account and have most current version of Itunes etc.

I'm having the same problem.  I purchased a SD season pass for a show and when I tried to download the newest episode I couldn't access the SD version.  When I click on the SD button nothing happens.  The only option it gives me is to download the HD version which means I would have to repurchase the episode.  I haven't had any response from Itunes support.  It hasn't been a problem in previous weeks.

  • Computer crashed and got a new one, but can't access previous purchases from iTunes.

My PC crashed and I got a Mac, I can't get my old purchases from the iTunes store onto my new computer. Is there a way to get my purchases from the iTunes store on my new computer? It's showing all the songs/videos I bought but I can't access them.

When you purchase content from the iTunes Store it's downloaded to the storage/hard drive of the computer you purchased them on. You should have made a backup like iTunes warns you to do.
However there is some hope, I can instruct you how to recover your content from the hard drive of the dead PC, provided the hard drive ITSELF still mechanically works and if your willing to perhaps spend some money and get your hands a bit dirty.
    Recovery option:
I'm going to assume here that the PC is dead, either mechanically or the computer won't boot from the hard drive and you are willing to extract the hard drive from the computer and see if it works to get your data off.
Be gentle, disconnect the power and remove the battery before carefully opening up the PC to remove the drive.
Once you got the drive out there is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
Your attempting to access a Windows NTFS drive from a Mac which can't read it, you need Paragons's NTFS for Mac® OS X software installed on the Mac first before hooking up the NTFS Windows formatted drive.
Once you do that, you should be able to navigate to your Windows/Music folder and transfer the whole iTunes folder directly to the Mac desktop and also recover any other files you need as well.
    Good Luck

  • HT4539 how do i find out if i have my ipod backed up in icloud, if It's been stolen? I did put a lock on it, should i erase it as well? can i access my games & itunes music? I already saved all my pics on a flashdrive.

    lost/stolen
    No app is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
    - iOS: How to find the serial number, IMEI, MEID, CDN, and ICCID number
    - If you erase it via iCoud you will no longer be able to communicate with ite/locate it via iCloud.
    - The only way to find out if you have it backed up to iCloud is to use the same iCloud account in Setting>iClould on another iPod touch, iPhone or iPad. The go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup

  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes Version 11.4.1 and still cannot access. I continue to get the Error 7 Windows Error 193 and now I am getting the Apple Mobile Device failed to start. I can't access any of my music I HAVE PURCHASED. What  to do?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes Version 11.4.1 and still cannot access. I continue to get the Error 7 Windows Error 193 and now I am getting the Apple Mobile Device failed to start. I can't access any of my music I HAVE PURCHASED. What  to do?

I am getting the same error message - error 7, Windows error 193 running iTunes on a PC Laptop (HP) which has been running iTunes previously for at least 2 years.
I followed the Apple support page and uninstalled (in order) all Apple programmes specified, rebooted, then re-installed.  Two additional errors crop up in re-installation, the first one is to do with Apple Mobile Support Device Services.  It seems that this might be rectified by plugging in said devices before finishing the re-install.  The second reads iTunesHelper was not installed correctly please re-install iTunes.  This persists. I cannot uninstall iTunesHelper using the Control Panel, but I can delete it using Windows.  However, after re-installing again, it still won't run and the original error comes back.  I've downloaded and uninstalled 15 times now and this is taking far too long to be acceptable.

  • How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot get the music off it.

How can I get my old iTunes music onto my new computer without access to my old computer? I left my previous job and forgot to transfer my music. I bought iTunes match and it shows my old Mac as a device, but I cannot access any of the old music. All I can find are what was on my iPhone, but that's not what I want. I need all my old music from my old Mac, which has been wiped clean by IT at my old job. BUT, I did have iCloud at that time and I thought all my music would be accessible through it. I don't understand the Cloud! And I'm thinking spending $24.99 on iTunes Match was a waste of money because I still can't access my old music.

When you are done with this issue, consider the computer back at the office may still
have access to your iTunes account, and it should be de-auhorized. You can do that
remotely, but be sure you carefully do not mess up your other computer iTunes libraries.
    Good luck & happy computing!

    Yes.
On their iOS devices, under Settings>iTunes & App Store, they should use your Apple ID. When they log into iCloud, iMessage and Facetime, they should use their personal Apple IDs.
