Can't access some web pages

For the last week or so, I have not been able to access Yahoo.com via Safari, Firefox, or Camino. One day, I wasn't able to access Apple.com either.
I've repaired permissions, restarted, and reapplied the 10.4 update. What else should I do?

Hello Jerry,
Sorry for your frustration with the connectivity issue you are having.
If you use a router, check for firmware updates.
Here are 3 popular ones.
Airport Firmware updates ◈ Linksys FirmWare
◈ Netgear
Look at this site 10.4.8, WiFi (Airport), and Intel Macs solutions in case anything
here pertains to your Mac.
Good Luck! Please keep us posted.

  • After 6 months can not access some web pages

I can not get several web pages to work when I pull them up. Like Comcast, the main page comes up but not the current TV listings.

Unfortunately this hasn't worked either. I did this several times, after deleting cache files and repairing permissions. Do you think the issue is something that the ISP could address?
Another issue has appeared: I'm unable to login to a site that a friend has constructed; he assures me that when he uses the same login information on his mac there's no access problem. When I try, the login fields just reappear, without what I've entered.
    Any ideas are appreciated!

If you were using Apple's BootCamp and received this message, quit it and open Disk Uility in your Applicaitons/Utilities folder.
Select the Macintosh HD partition on the left and select Erase and Erase Free Space > Zero option and let it complete (important) this will check the spare space for bad sectors that can cause issues formatting partitions.
Once it's completed, try creating a partiton again in BootCamp.
If that doesn't work, then hold command option r keys down while connected to a fast internet connection, Internet Recovery should load (spinning globe) and then in that Disk Utility, select your entire internal drive and click > First Aid > Repair Disk and Permissions.
    reboot and attempt Bootcamp again.
If you still get a error, it might be that you have OS X data on the bottom area where BootCamp partition needs to go. This would occur if you had the drive or computer for a long time or wrote a large amount of files to the drive and nearly filling it up and then reduced some, but it left traces in the area BootCamp needs to go.

  • Can't access teaming web page

Hi, I've installed teaming 2.1 on a sles11 x64 virtual machine. I've used sun java jdk 1.6.21. After install I start the teaming server but then can't access the web page (I've used port 8080 in the URL). I used default network settings. I believe the mysql database has been created correctly. I think the problem is with Tomcat/java. I've included the output of tail --f catalina.out
/opt/novell/teaming/apache-tomcat-6.0.18/bin/catalina.sh: line 309: /usr/jre/bin/java: No such file or directory

the path shown in the first line of this output is not what I specified for java during the installation of teaming (I used /usr/java/jdk1.6.0_21). Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Lou

    Hi Lou,
Have you set an environment var for the JAVA_HOME?
you can set it system wide, create or edit /etc/profile.local, and add:
    export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_21
Then reboot the system so the env var gets set globally.
If the site is still not accessible, rerun the Teaming install choosing to reconfigure, double check the JAVA_HOME path set and see if that does the trick.
    Cheers,
    Willem

  • Can't access some web sites with version 4.0

I recently installed version 4.0 and am in test phase of the server.
With or without ACL's turned on, I can't access the following web site
    https://www.sunnet.sunlife.com/member/signin/index.asp?
    or
    https://www.sunnet.sunlife.com/member/
In Internet Explorer, it sits on a blank page with the little world logo spinning around until it finally times out after a few minutes. I've tried accessing these sites with both IE6 and IE 5.5 and get the same problem.
As a footnote, the web access to these sites works fine with our current Web Proxy version 3.6.
Does anyone have any ideas why this isn't working through the new Proxy 4.0?
    Thanks

I did some additional testing through Proxy 4. All web sites and web pages including secure sites that I tried accessing over the past couple of days all appear to work fine with the exception of the forementioned sites. Access to these specific web pages (which I cannot currently access) are part of our day-to-day business requirements, and therefore will prevent me from using Proxy version 4.0 as our production proxy unless I can figure out why these web pages won't load, and how to fix the problem.
As an experiment, I tried to access these web pages through Proxy 4 with Mozilla FireFox and Netscape 7. None of these web browsers (including Internet Explorer) will bring up these web pages when going through Proxy 4. But bypassing the proxy or going through our v3.6 proxy works fine for these web pages everytime, and with all browsers. This leads me to believe that this web page access problem is not a browser specific problem, but something in Proxy 4 isn't processing the request to display the page properly.
As a reference, the web site in question is http://www.sunlife.ca. On the left hand side of the page go to "Sign In" then "Plan Members". Thats where the request hangs through Proxy 4 no matter which browser I use, including Netscape... but works perfectly fine with Proxy v3.6.
Can someone who is running a version 4 Proxy also please try to access the SunLife Members login page and see if it works or fails for you?
    Thanks

  • Can't open some web pages... DOES ANYONE HAVE A FIX THAT WORKS?

I'm unable to open certain web pages. The pages will start to open and than the application will just stall. This seems to have coincided with downloading a security update a while back. I've tried downloading firefox and it too will not open these specific pages. I've searched the forum and as of now I can't find a solution. From what I've hear, Apple isn't even acknowledging that there is an issue. I've repaired permissions, deleted Safari plist files, all with no improvement. I know for a fact that it is not my internet connection, as my powerbook can navigate to these sites without any issues, however my powermac seems to have "forgotten" how to open some web pages.
Any fixes would be enourmously appreciated!

    Thanks for the reply.
I don't think that reporting the pages to apple would do much good as it's not the pages themselves that are the issue, it's something on my system that prevents them from opening up properly. My laptop will open the pages without any issue, however my desktop isn't able to for god knows what reason. I know others on this board have had similar problems.

  • My MBP can't open some web pages

    Hello.
I have problem with opening some web pages. It doesn't matter on the browser. It happens as in Safari as in Chrome. All browsers are updated. My MPB is updated. Problem is not in router. My gf has the same MBP and she can open the pages which I can't.
    Thanks for any advice.
    Resume:
Lion 10.7.1, the latest Chrome and Safari, other computers in my network works fine (win/mac), example of page which I can't open: www.adobe.com

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Can't access some web sites with safari

Can't access financial web site since time before last of safari update. Any help?

In my original post, not today's, I had said I was having the issues on the Mini, running OSX 10.6.8 and Safari v.5.1.5 for my bank's pill pay. I should have been more specific as to which machine and OSX Safari browser I'm having the T-Mobile problem with. My mistake.
It is on both the MacMini and now the Air too. A moment ago, I was able to log in to my.t-mobile.com on the Air, but after putting into my Bookmarks folder, I can't do it anymore. The Log in button comes up greyed out instead of green.
I'm also still having trouble with my bank's bill pay section on both computers too.
I wonder if it's related to the saving of the log in info or putting in the Bookmark Folder?

  • IP / DNS ?  Can't Open Some web pages

Hope I'm in the right Forum here. Not 100% sure so apologies if I got it wrong. I am suddenly experiencing errors as below.... I get the same error on several web pages but to keep it simple I will just use www.hotmail.com as the example.
    In Safari I get
    Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “https://login.live.com/login.srf?id=2&svc=mail&cbid=24325&msppjph=1&tw=0&fs=1&fs a=1&fsat=1296000&_lang=EN&lc=1033”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
    In Firefox I get
    The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
A few days ago there was some interruption to my broadband service. I had syncronisation with my modem and the exchange (two solid green lights) but no web access on any of my computers. It's possible that the errors above started at the same time but I'm not 100% sure.
I have researched and read stuff about DNS and resetting IP addresses but don't really understand this.
Importantly, I have a PC in my house on the same router which can access these sites fine using IE. Also, if I connect my Mac with my neighbours wireless network it all works fine. So - it's something with my ISP right?
Any ideas on how I can look into this before having to speak to someone who doesn't really know what they're talking about (especially re Mac's) on a £2 per second helpline.
    Thank you

    Chris. I found this post
    http://forums.osxfaq.com/viewtopic.php?t=11628&highlight=firefoxsafari+openhotmail
Read the very bottom of it regarding MTU. I really don't understand these things but I did have an afternoon of downtime with TalkTalk last week and I have also just changed my service with them from normal broadband to the free broadband. Have you also dont this?
My logic says that if my two Windows machines work fine then it must be software related on the Mac. Or perhaps something to do wtih how it deals with cookies as the sites I can't access are those which would use cookies.
Any other thoughts? Maybe we should communicate directly regarding this - I don't know.

  • Can't access my web page from Verizon's ISP

My GoDaddy web page at: http://www.dolittleproject.com can no longer be accessed via Verizon 3G wireless broadband. It has worked in the past, but is now dead.
I contacted GoDaddy. They suggested I try using a remote open proxy. That worked: I could see my web page. (I used http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.dolittleproject.com ) I also tried using Google's DNS servers, instead of Verizon's. That doesn't work. it seems that Verizon is somehow blocking or otherwise interfering with access to my site, which -- by the way -- contains no salacious or otherwise offensive material.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Were you ever able to find a solution to this?  I am experiencing the exact same problem with our website - www.bravegirlsclub.com - verizon wireless broadband (3G) users are not able to access our site at all.  They get a 504 error/server timeout.
I pulled up your site with my 3G connection so I was wondering if you found a solution... although I talked to Verizon's advanced tech support twice and once they were able to replicate my problem and once they weren't, so I don't know if it is across the board for all Verizon wireless broadband users or just clusters/random individuals.  I may just be one of the lucky ones that can pull your site up with a Verizon 3G connection...
I was also able to access our site via a remote open proxy.  (I tried http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://bravegirlsclub.com/ and https://www.megaproxy.com/go/_mp_framed?www.bravegirlsclub.com).  Our site is not hosted with GoDaddy if that makes a difference... I have tried just about everything I can think of to no avail.
